I really think Lucasfilm needs to release a press statement explaining what happened. Who's decision was it? Was this EA's fault? Was it Lucasfilm's fault? We need more details. We've been waiting for this game for a while now, literally over two years now.

I get it why you would think that as a fan, but devils advocate here, that is really something that would be really difficult for Lucasfilm to do. They need to continue thier relationship and it would be tricky to talk about any project, ongoing or cancelled that can potentially damage that relationship
The Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection is out on March 14 NOT May 14
EA said they wanted to lean away from licensed games, there’s still gonna be a jedi 3 since it’s an established series and they wanna finish cal’s story, and the iron man and black panther games are still being made since they are deeper into development, but unfortunately I guess the respawn game wasn’t shaping enough quick enough, so they went ahead and dropped it

@pricelessppp crazy that we don't have that in modern day. All of us who played on psp were actually spoiled at the time. I honestly didn't know they were exclusive I just loved the originals and my step dad gave me his psp and got me every star wars game cuz he loves star wars. But space ground battle needs to happen, imagine even piloting the main ship somehow like in the first ea battlefront and the at at mode, I thought they were gonna based on that idea they had but meh.

Im glad the sequel to jedi survivor is still on going however, I would love more single player or co-op Star Wars titles.
definitely more coop and multiplayer titles at this point IMO. We already have Jedi series and Outlaws (which I still can't wait for, we just need more multiplayer with constant DLC and updates added to the mix)

What is with star wars games specifically getting canceled all the time. Its so unreal. Like barely any can get off the ground
i think it makes sense for them to do this, focusing on these ongoing projects then later maybe coming back to this FPS.
I hope its better-designed assets get put into another project if they can't come back to this FPS. If they were to take inspiration from Respawn's work for a future Mass Effect in terms of feel for combat, it might make for an interesting shift.
But there not coming back to these canceled games, if they did, we would of had Battlefront 3 years ago.

This is absolutely insider politics. EA wants to be the only one with a Star Wars combat game.
They really hate making Star Wars games that we actually want. Especially games that have to do with Republic Commando, Star Wars: Battlefront (III), The Force Unleashed, or Mandalorians in general. First 1313, now the FPS Mandalorian game.
But of course, they're making another another Star Wars: Jedi game. Which isn't a bad thing. But at the end of the day, I'm a trooper/Mandalorian fan. I want to see more games focused on that side of Star Wars, rather than everything being focused on Jedi/Sith.
They want you to play as little girl bosses.

Just like with all the movies that have been in development since 2019 - I’ll believe it’s coming out when I’m actually sitting and enjoying it… Seems 95% of new SW film and game projects get canned.
I think they’re scrapping it to do battlefront 3. Battlefront classic collection is already making headlines and EA doesn’t necessarily need to be the one to do it

I'm pretty sure that around 18 months ago Lucasfilm announced they would be looking for other developers to move forward with Star Wars Video games and that they would be amending agreements with EA. It would make sense that EA would spend more resources on own IP

Honestly I don’t care for the Jedi games. And they’re good games it’s just that’s the only thing Star Wars is allowed to produce at this point and I hate it. It’s the only Star Wars I’ve gotten to enjoy that wasn’t legos in years

Meh. I got a remaster of Dark Forces and will be getting a remaster of Battlefront Classic. I’m happier with those than I would have been for anything new.
If we could find a way to get Arrowhead to make Battlefront 3 it would be cool.

It doesn't look good for the Star Wars strategy game that EA also announced. EA is backing away from Star Wars altogether - once Jedi 3 is done, we won't get any more from EA.
At this point, they need to just stop announcing games so far ahead of expected release dates. Announce them when they’re almost ready to go and do it right. Sucks for SW fans everywhere.

I was (still am) angry about the FPS Star Wars shooter game. I have a really bad feeling that Star Wars Hunters is going to be next. But, considering how it’s already launched in another countries through mobile devices, it probably will see the light of day. I just hope that it ACTUALLY comes out this year, cause I’m looking forward to that free-to-play Star Wars game for my Switch. I’m also VERY much looking forward to Star Wars Battlefront: Classic Collection, though.

When you said Battlefield 6 I got confused, then I realized oh that is a franchise that EA killed with there last two entries. And yes I did play 2042 in different time frames and honestly it never kept my attention long enough to be worth it. Definitely not better than what battlefront 2 eventually became.
Also I don’t get excited about anything Ubisoft anymore. I’m sure it’ll be a AAAA title where the bare minimum cosmetics are base game and an extra shirt is micro transaction, but in order to get the color you want you have to by the bundle as it would be overall cheaper somehow. Don’t worry you won’t actually own the game, because you have to get use to not owning it.
At least the open world black panther game will continue. I've been looking forward to it. I've been hoping for a kotor remake trilogy tho. 😢

These studios need to bring down the costs of a lot of games. I really don't need cutting edge graphics, they tend.to run like shit anyways. Hell, Jedi survivor is still unplayable on PC. Make more games in an indie fashion (smaller budget/team sizes), closer in fidelity and scope to late 90's to mid 2000's style.
Give me Battlefront 3 in the classic BF style with some improved animations/physics, with more maps and leadersboards. Go back to the legends timeline and give Kyle Katarn another game with slightly better Outcast/Academy graphics.
AAA gaming is an unsustainable as bloated Hollweird budgets, woke shit doesn't help either.

Damn, I was hoping for a Dark Forces sequel or reboot. Especially after playing through Star Wars Dark Forces Remaster today on Xbox. I'm looking forward to the Classic Battlefront Collection but I don't have any interest in Star Wars Outlaws. I'm also one of the few who didn't enjoy the Respawn Jedi games. The last new Star Wars game I enjoyed was Star Wars Squadrons' campaign.
I think is sucks that they payed off so many people…. As for the first person SW game… I had no interest unless it allowed us to play in 3rd person… GOD I hate first person…. What we NNNEEED is SWBF3…. Can’t wait for SW Outlaws…. And Future Mando game…. Someday… 🤞
dang it man, modern day game dev studios need more love. the more gamers hear about these layoffs and the instability in developing games, the more we can be grateful for deals that work out and get the support games need to end up even being made, let alone be good. Right now, it would be incredibly stupid for the fans to believe any "new game" announced by Lucasfilm. I could swear they just start projects and productions just to keep the fandom interested only to axe it later on. They know full well the project won't stand. How many Star Wars games did we get since 2014 that were not remakes or remasters?

I feel that EA need to understand the loss of profit and therefore lay offs are down to them. Continuously releasing poor, sloppy, broken and boring games, hiding behind in game transactions when AAA games are already really expensive and not listening to consumer opinion are the reasons. It has been happening over the last 20 years and now the consumer has had enough! EA aren’t the only ones….. Ubisofts Skull and bones is another example of this! Just my opinion guys….
So no Battlefront III. You know we have all these impressive technologies, massive improvements of graphics and all this shit we have access to. I find it hard to believe that not one game studio or whatever can have a separate development team source out to a modding community for assistance or something to make these games happen.
I am not familiar with the whole terminology of game development and so on. But hopefully someone understands what I am trying to say.
I am grateful that the Battlefront I and II classics are being rereleased for PC/Xbox/PS5/Switch. However I really hope that if the classics make a crap ton of sales that Battlefront III will become a reality.

I’m also looking forward to Star Wars Outlaws but I would have preferred for a game with that concept to have a character creator and more personalization akin to Cyberpunk since we never had a bounty hunter game from a big developer.
It's unfortunately the part of industry's layoffs - even Battlefield franchise got hit with departure of Marcus Lehto and completet shutdown of Ridgeline Games, which was supposed to lead the narrative of a new game. Some people will be brought to Ripple Effect though, so at least they can keep their job. I feel really sorry for all the folks who stopped being a part of the dev team overnight - it's really one of the worst times to be a game dev right now.

The problem is it's not been a particularly unstable industry the last few years. Sales figures keep following online sentiment almost one-to-one. As with all businesses, the only destabilizing factor continues to be the financial sector itself. Shareholders being placed before customers. Upside down views of how circulatory economics works.
I've said it a bunch, I'll say it again, all I want is a game where I can create my own character in Star Wars, that isn't SWTOR. They are SO scared to make a game like that and idk why. It should've been Star Wars: Outlaws, cuz what's easier to erase from Canon than a scoundrel right, but no, we had to get yet another character they can shove into one of their shows or make a toy out of. It's a SciFi galaxy with tons of races, factions and conflict on par with any fantasy world and the amount of Star Wars games that let us create our own character I can count on one hand. Should be a no brainer man.

They are continuing to work on the game as they have been.

Battlefront 1 was I think the most sold Xbox game, Battlefront 2 had a poor launch from some gambling like micro transactions.
Which means Starwars Battlefront 3 is ripe to make an epic comeback.
