Thanks for sharing. I will admit, I am puzzled how Roi passed away and was “filled in” by Jeff (who does an incredible job.) Yet BT is booted and no one takes his place. The lack of a violin will perpetually hurt the band’s overall sound on all styles of songs.
It's been a long time, so my memory is pretty hazy, but I'm pretty sure that Jeff did a bunch of shows before Roi passed away. He was a pretty easy shoe in. Not sure who else would fit so naturally into BTs place. Fwiw, I have been enjoying them sans violin just as much, but agreed him leaving has left a hole.

I have a feeling it’s not really about a lack of potential replacements as much as logistics and/or the band wanting to move in a different direction musically.

I will admit, I am puzzled how Roi passed away and was “filled in” by Jeff (who does an incredible job.) Yet BT is booted and no one takes his place.
The lack of a violin will perpetually hurt the band’s overall sound on all styles of songs.
Wasn’t it Roi who first suggested strings/violin in the first place when they were forming the band?
Good question, I’m not sure… I think BT was a later addition to the band as it was forming.
It's been a long time, so my memory is pretty hazy, but I'm pretty sure that Jeff did a bunch of shows before Roi passed away. He was a pretty easy shoe in. Not sure who else would fit so naturally into BTs place. Fwiw, I have been enjoying them sans violin just as much, but agreed him leaving has left a hole.
@@pretenda Maybe somebody like Lindsey Stirling. No offense to Boyd whatsoever, because I’m as big a fan of his as there is/was, but I have to believe someone could fill those violin parts. I have a feeling it’s not really about a lack of potential replacements as much as logistics and/or the band wanting to move in a different direction musically.
Well honestly every time I hear a violin solo now it’s not beautiful it’s creepy because I know the story behind Boyd. Dave doesn’t need a violin and let’s face it it’s been over 20 years of the same sound and they maybe have another 5-10 years left at best so out with the old in with the new. The band was never the same after Leroi passed anyways. Violin? We don’t need no fkn violin.

The bass doesn’t really come through on this. It’ll have much more “drive” when properly mixed.
