That’s awesome to hear, thank you! We’re away in Basil right now actually, for a cheeky 2 nights away 🙂. I think you’ll be happy with a Symbol. Let us know if/when you get one! 👍🏻🙂
Thanks for your kind comment! We’re jealous you’ve been to France & Spain in your van. We agree these Autosleepers are fantastic vans (built to last if you take good care of them). We may have to take Basil to France some time, although we’ve still got lots of the UK to explore 🙂
We’re next door in Wiltshire and having owned a motorhome for 20 years we have just sold it and are thinking of getting a Symbol. We (hubby and me) are thoroughly enjoying your videos and have watched several over the past month or so. The tour of Basil was great and I had tears in my eyes hearing about you dear, sweet Archie. What a beautiful little frame with his darling pretty blue feathers. So special. Catch you on the next trip!
Thank you for your kind comment and we’re really glad you’re enjoying our videos. I would highly recommend Symbol’s if you’re thinking of a Campervan. Even the new Symbol’s have pretty much the exact same layout to our 2000 year model (which speaks volumes to how timeless and practical the design is and always has been). Thank you also for your kind words regarding Archie. He was certainly a character and I (Dave) even taught him how to talk….he had a huge vocabulary and, when he mixed it up, had us in stitches! Good luck in your campervan search and we hope you enjoy our future videos! 🙂
Hey Dave and Jen. I have just started watching your videos (snd subscribed to your channel 😊) as I have just bought my first ever campervan. Really enjoying your vlogs, especially your trips to Bath, Henley and Norfolk....so much so that I am in Wroxham this weekend and going to do a Broads Tour. Henley and Bath trips booked for later this year. This video and tour of Basil has been really interesting. Look forward to seeing your next adventure. Glenn in Kent.
Hi Glenn….firstly, thanks so much for subscribing to our channel - we really appreciate it and we’re glad you’re enjoying our videos. You’ll love the Norfolk Broads (hopefully you’ll get better weather that we did!). Henley and Bath are definitely worth visiting too, I’m sure you’ll enjoy them. Good luck with your new Campervan. I’m sure you’ll have many happy memories in it! Does your van have a name? 🙂
@@theealesadventures Hi Dave and Jen. Thanks, am loving my adventues in Lil with my 17 year old dog. I have just got back from Norfolk. The boat trip on the Broads was brilliant has you said, and I managed to get into Fellbrig. Lovely gardens.
Thanks for the van tour much appreciated. Very impressed with the layout. Our old T4 now has got to go according to she who must be obeyed lol. Was going to buy a van and do self conversion but the boss said we too old now? 65-70 age group she may be right. Enjoying you channel guys x
Thanks for the kind words, glad you’re enjoying our videos/channel. Yes, our campervan does have a good layout (it suits us very well). The fact we can still park in a normal car parking space is really nice too. Good luck with whatever you decide to do (van conversion or pre built van). All the best! 🙂
Very interesting tour. I’d be interested to know where your foam infill goes. I have a 22 yo auto-trail that seems to be missing a bit of the big bed layout.
Thanks for your comment! The foam infill we think is for the single beds set up. In that scenario it goes between the long bench seat and the drivers seat (along with the arm rest). However, as we always use the double bed set up, we just use it as a draft excluder near the drivers door and Jen’s head. We also use to pad out stuff when we’re driving. We actually don’t think it’s the original one, we think someone before us had it made…Hope that helps?
Hi….thanks for the comment. The drivers seat doesn’t swivel, sadly (although in reality this isn’t a real issue for us). We’ve never used it as single beds, only a double so not sure.
Hi, thanks for the comment. Good question….if it’s mechanical we let the garage sort it out and if it’s a part need for the habitation area we’ve found the Autosleeper Owners Group on Facebook really helpful for advice or search Amazon, EBay etc.
Hi guy's. Really enjoyed your video and have enjoyed all your others. About to take plunge into buying one like Basil but im 6ft3. It is the sleeping side that worries me. My soon to be wife (a week on Saturday until our wedding) is 5ft2 so does not have these concerns 😂 many thanks and looking forward to next video.
Hi! Thank you for your kind comment…..Firstly, congratulations in advance for your wedding! With regards to the sleeping side, maybe sleep at an angle/diagonal? Or make it into 2 single beds. I (Dave) am taller than Jen but I find it fine if I’m curled up a bit whilst sleeping. I’m sure you’ll have lots of adventures in your Campervan when you get one! Enjoy!
I have a similar van and yes a shower but also wind breakers and the black solar shower you hang in the sun and when needed wind breakers or what ever you have but good for washing up or showers simple hot water ,.
Hi, thanks for the comment. We’ve never actually measured them ourselves, but we’ve just done a quick Google search and the near side single is 6’1” x 4’9” and the offside single is 5’8” x 2’3.5”. Hope that helps 🙂
just subscribed. great vlog helpful tutorial for us new to campervans. Thinking of getting a Topaz version one as want to have a decent size shower are to use onboard. Is there much difference in mpg between the petrol and diesel accepting diesel will be a tad slower. thanks again
Hi….Thanks for so much for subscribing! Regarding your MPG question, I’m guessing a diesel engine would be more economical over longer journeys. Ours is a petrol engine, but we try and drive as economically as possible. Maybe someone else might have a better answer in the comments……
Hi…If you’re talking about our EcoFlo, we love it. It has 2 regular plug sockets (enough power to run our toaster, Nespresso coffee machine and milk frother) and USB A and USB C fast charging. We’ve also got portable solar panels to charge it. Maybe well done a video on it sometime 🤔
Had you thought of joining the Autosleepers Owners Club many rallies each year and meet up with fellow Autosleepers owners many with similar aged motorhomes as yours right up to present day production models.
Hi….thanks for the comment. Yeah, we really should join that group! Sounds like a lot of fun and would be cool to hang out with fellow Autosleeper owners 👍🏻
I’m currently looking to buy a camper and the auto sleeper is the one I tend to favour, you said yours is a petrol and I was wondering, does it run on e10 or do you have to use e5 ? Also what MPG roughly are you getting ? I was looking at diesel vans for fuel economy but when they go wrong they cost a hell of a lot more to put right.
Hi….Good question. Ours actually can run on both (although we always use e10). I think the cut off for e5 was Sept 2000 and Basil was built in Jan 2000. With regards to MPG, we’re not too sure. It obviously depends on how loaded we are. For long journeys where we are fully loaded we pump our tyres up to 55 all round and we try and drive economically (Basil isn’t built for speed anyway!).
great tour around, I was enjoying this until, toenail clippers in the same drawer with kitchen bits, please FFS tell me you were kidding, I'm not house proud by any means but that's just Grose.
Thank you so much for this van tour, the most thorough I have ever seen with lots of useful tips. It has convinced me that a Symbol is for me .
That’s awesome to hear, thank you! We’re away in Basil right now actually, for a cheeky 2 nights away 🙂. I think you’ll be happy with a Symbol. Let us know if/when you get one! 👍🏻🙂
Yes I will if I can find one as good as Basil ! Enjoy your break
@vickiphillips4876 Thanks!
Great choice of van - a perfect size and design for touring UK lanes!
Exactly! Thanks for the comment 🙂
Nice tour of your van guys! You enjoy yourselfs just as much as someone next door with a 50k one! We're Dorset. Loving your vids! Paul & Lin. ❤❤
Thanks Paul & Lin! Yeah, we certainly do enjoy our van….we’re Dorset based too 🙂
Great video we have the symphony model 1997 2.0 petrol and have driven around france and spain. Fantastic vans. 👍👍

great tour thank you for sharing. New to your channel and subbed. We do daily vlogs and absolutely love these types of videos.
Thanks guys 🙂
The van does everything you need. I now know how the van would function in day to day life when traveling, so thanks for sharing,

I was right! New Forrest! I recognized the horses.
Haha! Well done! 👍🏻 Isn’t the New Forest beautiful? You got to love those New Forest ponies 🙂
Just up the road from my house

Haha, yes. Lil. As in The Lil'est Hobo (people of a certain generation will remember the TV show when we were kids) - It's only a small van.
Brilliant name! Yes, we remember that TV show (Jen used to have the theme tune as her ring tone on her phone when we first got together 😂).

Hi….thanks for the comment. The drivers seat doesn’t swivel, sadly (although in reality this isn’t a real issue for us). We’ve never used it as single beds, only a double so not sure.
We have a harmony, do you find it hard to get replacement parts?

What length are beds if you left them as two singles . Thanks

Can I ask which model it is please 😊
@SimonTemple-f4i Hi….we did mention the model of the van in the video 🙂
Sorry I mean the model and size of the power station 😊
@SimonTemple-f4i Ahh……sorry! It’s the EcoFlow Delta Mini (1400W output) 🙂
