This song “Cell Therapy” and “Why Is That” by KRS-One woke something up in me as a teenager.

Back in the early amid 90s when I was a young teenager. I remember these songs coming out on a radio and they played them all the time.

Exactly! we are infinite, there is something in us that has been around since the beginning and if we procreate and so do our progeny and so on and so on and so……from the beginning through the millennia- we exist.

That picture did something to me back then along with the line "climb the trees my forefathers hung from". They took pictures smiling at "strange fruit" (tree ornaments) and made them into postcards. I will NEVER forget. It still happens in 2024 and is shown on the news daily (modern day lynching)...and sadly we're helping and participating. People still live in those houses...until the neighborhood is gentrified.
Side note: Listen to the singer at the end Dionne Farris' song Hopeless.

Lauryn Hill should’ve gotten a verse on a remix in retrospect.
But goddamn I loved this song as soon as it dropped.

This song was such a breath of fresh air to hip hop during that time, it reminded us of the music from Public Enemy but from a different angle. Hard Core Rap was being played heavy on the radio and this was smoother but it was deep.

A very unique band. Singing and speaking words of praise and prayer. Also social history. It's funny you bought that house subject up because when we kids we went to go visit my grandma on my father's side in Alabama. The house had a tin roof, newspaper for wallpaper, no inside plumbing. You had to go out to the water pump for water. Bathroom facilities... OUTHOUSE!!!! Thanks everyday.

When I was a kid, this song was on the radio like crazy. If I never hear it again, I'd be cool with it.

Mentally you might still be a kid. This song is the whole purpose of Hip Hop.

@andremiller1566 this song is right up there with Montel Jordan's "This Is How We Do It " in terms of being played out for me. I've heard too much in my life. I cursed you out for the disrespect in questioning my mentality, but RUclips apparently yanked it. So I'll keep this response clean.

They had to give Prince a million dollars from this song. They sampled his voice from his song Alphabet Street saying Tennessee. He wrote them a letter and told them give me that and we're good... carryon
