I also purchased the E-310 std and I am 5'1. I had the same problem on installing the headlights. Addmotor instructed me to run the cables behind the basket and that solved the problem. Your cables are outside and not directly behind the basket. There is a slot behind the basket and handlebar stem to run the cables and use the tie wrap they provided to secure the highlight cables. I was impressed on how they delivered it. I do agree it has much speed and torque and the quality of the product definitely better than the Lectric trike. It feels very light when riding it. On turns I just have to lean on the direction of the turn. An added plus this has a 20amp and the Lectric Trike has 14amps, no anxiety on range. Please continue the good work on your videos.

Richard: Happy you gave it a good review, especially since I ordered a 310-Plus for myself a few months back. Some thoughts:
    1. Agree: There's nothing wrong with mechanical disk brakes, especially with all 3 wheels grabbing! And you never have to bleed them!
    2. That chain tensioner on the drive chain makes me think: Etrikes with this set up (1 speed crank pedalling a motor/ RWD) could use a few more gears on that drive chain. Not 7 gears back on the motor's shaft, but just 3. Put the shifter on the LHS hand grip, and it's already got the tensioner for providing controlled chain slack!
This would give better exercise and control thru Pedal Assist selection 1-7 vs. "Ghost Pedelling"! Also you could climb hills and get home much better on a dying / dead battery. (Sure we all know how that goes, regardless of your battery's AmpHours.)
    3. Good point on it needing a support under the crank for when it folds; I'll have to print one up in 3D (strong enough and weighs nothing).
    4. For what vendors charge for these baskets, they should all come with liners to stop items falling thru.

Hey thanks for the comments. You know, it is easy to pedal without power, so that part is good. A larger crank or smaller rear sprocket would make starting more difficult but it would be a better ride. I like to pedal, but can't do much of that.

I saw somebody with a similar e-bike who had the same dilemma of course the basket holes are just that they're way too big for things to slip through. So as an alternative option they literally went to the dollar store and they picked up a wooden cutting board, on one of the very rare times where the dollar store actually had in stock the wooden rounded Edge cutting boards. They bought a couple of those and they cut them down to size resend it it made it again with rounded edges and then I think they either drill nailed it into the basket or they might have even used some of those 3M brand velcro strips that are specifically marketed for outdoor use those tend to be much stronger and then they just stuck it onto the frame and it was a done deal.

I think an important difference that potential users need to be aware of is the narrower width of the rear wheels as you point out in your review. This definitely affects the stability of the trike. Wider is better. I seriously considered a Liberty trike at one point but went with the Lectirc XP mainly because of the wider width of the rear wheels. I do have balance issues. And I think that most potential buyers of a trike do as well. And the fact is that wider is better. The width of the e310 may be adequate, but my choice months ago when I made my purchase decision was heavily based on the width of the trike's wheels (there were other less important factors as well), and frankly this would still be an important factor in a purchase decision if I was making it today.
Unfortunately, most will not be able to test drive both prior to purchase, but fortunately both are excellent choices and good values.

When it comes to trikes, I think stability is probably the #1 concern. Addmotor could have done better. More to come about it....

Hi Richard. First of all, I want to let you know that I really enjoy all of your videos, especially the long rides with your friends. Just last week I bought the Addmotor M140 R7 and I just love it. Anyways, I just saw your video on the Addmotor e-trike and just want to let you know that the front headlight needs to be installed right in the same spot where you installed the front fender. Yeah, it is a little weird position for the headlight but it is there where it should be installed. Keep up the great work with your videos!! You have a fan here in Puerto 🇵🇷 Rico.

Thanks for the review. Still waiting for our E-310. I am purchasing for my wife and guess her significant weight difference from yours should help with the wandering and waviness significantly. How to adjust the pedal assist. I have adjusted my 2 E pbikes and it made a world of difference. Hoe you are able to learn how to access the hidden menu on the 310. That adjustment is very important. Add motor needs to rethink those setting at the factory.

Another great review Richard. The addmotor e310 plus seems like it might have been more to your height. IT has larger wheels front and back which would make the trike stand taller so it seems to me that that would also make it a little more squirrely as far as turns. I'm 86 - 5ft.8 and love riding my regular bike but family worries I might fall and so I'm trying to decide which trike would be the safest one available. I honestly would prefer e-bike but a fall would be bad at my age. Anyway, Big fan of your reviews keep up the good work. Thank's, John

Nice introductory review. Looking forward to your full review.
With regards to the ghost pedaling, you can obviously change the crankset to 52 teeth. This would allow you to pedal at about 3-5 mph faster without ghost pedaling, but some may find it difficult to pedal at slower speeds. When I got my XP trike, I was able to pedal at about 8-9 mph comfortably (I limited the top speed electronically to eliminate ghost pedaling) and used PAS1 pretty much all the time except on inclines. After I changed the crankset, I could no longer use PAS 1 as it is too difficult for me to pedal at slower speeds. I can use PAS 2 but typically use PAS 3 for my best riding experience. A lot depends on the leg strength and settings of the rider of course.
How do you find the position of the pedals? The crankset looks like it it setback towards the rear more so than most bikes/trikes as I mentioned in response to one of your previous reviews concerning the e310. The position looks a bit uncomfortable to me - I don't think I would be happy with the position, but in fairness I do have mobility issues.
The angle of the seat back looks nice, especially for large riders.
Is there an option to get this trike delivered fully assembled?

    • @EbikeReviews
      @EbikeReviews  Год назад

Thanks for your comments. I will need to measure the pedals but it felt about the same as the XP trike. Both could have been a few inches forward for my liking. But its not uncomfortable. I don't think they offer full assembly, but since it comes on a pallet already, wish it had been. I think there was room on the pallet for a slightly bigger box and it could have been assembled. That would have been a huge plus.

I am assembling one now; it was packaged similarly. There was no blocking and the bike shifted rearward, crushing the back fenders … There was no quick reference card, the other reference card was attached below, and during assembly, an assembly booklet was found hidden within one of the small parts boxes, …. duhhhh !!! I still haven’t found the battery removal keys, though the booklet mentioned them in a side-note saying that they’re not replaceable … Shipment was a month late, so I’d guess they were in a rush and sorta threw things together.
Though your video paints a rosy picture, personally, I am not a happy camper. Without unpacking/checklist and assembly literature readily available , I did not finding packaging & assembly customer friendly ….

Everyone should know. I bought 2 lectric trikes for me and my wife last July. One of the trikes came with a bent wheel on the back, and the other one had two flat tires. Lectric ebikes sent us a new wheel but I bought new tubes for the tires. Now both bikes have bad rear axle bearings and the bikes are not usable. We have put 117 miles on one trike and 104 miles on the other all neighborhood riding. I sent video of the bearing movement, and noise. they told me I had to pack up the bike in original packing and ship it back 1000 miles just to get it fixed or replaced. I asked for a shop service manual but they refused. These bikes are cheaply made and service is poor. So much for savings.

The light's position is typical with the basket installed. Lectric does the same thing on the XP. I moved my light off the front of the basket on my XP onto the handlebars near the top. So it does always rotate with the handlebars. It is a simple adjustment to move the light. But a 2nd light added near the top of the handlebars might be a better option. They are not expensive.
You can't really judge the effectiveness of the light by its size and without testing it at night.

I think he will also find he has to mount that fender to the BACKSIDE of that mount and won't be able to take advantage of those threads, the light mounts on the front side normally.
I actually live in the subdivision across the street from Richard and have a Lectric Trike (2 actually, one for wife) so I hope to pop over soon and have a look. I would say that so far, from what I've seen in this video, I'm pretty happy that I saved the money difference but that front suspension is SWEET and more power is generally always going to be better. That said on the Lectric with a good throttle snap, a slight kick and good pull will get you a nice little wheelie. I even dialed back the torque to deliver it more slowly (of course kept the speed high). Which brings me to my other point, I do wish the Lectric went at least 18MPH. Deadheading to trials and favorite riding spots at 13.6 can get a little tedious.

If you badly cross thread or strip out a thread in aluminum, you, if you have the skills, or a repair shop can drill out the damaged threads and re-tap the hole for a stainless steel helical thread insert, i.e. a HeliCoil. A properly installed HeliCoil in aluminum is stronger than the original thread.

Having dual mechanical brakes in the rear will be a problem. Mechanical brakes require regular adjustments and those adjustments will have to be very even. Otherwise you will get a bike that pulls to one side or the other. I'm betting this will be a longterm problem. Not well thought out by Addmotor. Looks like they missed on the light mounting too. The speed and the torque and when the sway will put a lot of folks off. I'm seeing folks that have some balance and need a trike for stability, getting in over their head. It looks flexy too.
    I'm not impressed.

I was expecting FWD. please look to see if the differential is the same brand as the Lectric. If so, I think they make the entire axle assembly which may mean the same 6003-RS bearing that often goes bad. If so, what will Addmotor do if one starts crunching? I have the special 20mm one that I may attempt to change this weekend. I wish that I had a RUclipsr like you to video the work as there are people on the Facebook user group that would like to see if it is DIY or take it to a machine shop to get the bearing out and pressed in. The local Lectric affiliate bike shop isn’t interested. Lectric has been of no help in getting a bearing or fixing it other than returning the trike for another. Neither will they say why it can’t be fixed in the field. What is one to do after the warranty expires? I’m wanting to buy a second trike I’ve not seen one better than the Lectric no matter the money. The Addmotor may be an alternative, but I’d buy another Lectric if I had to today.

Did Addmotor change the specs on the total width of the e310 trike? On their web page, they now say 33.9 inches total width (the Lectric XP trike is 30.5") and you said it is 29.5 inches. I do not know if they change the width to improve stability or not. I still think they should go with hydraulic brakes so owner does not have to deal with cable stretches. Also, since this is a single speed, they should have gone with belt drive instead of chain. In my view, these trikes are mobility devices and even at 14mph, that is plenty fast already for the vast majority of seniors. To climb steep hills, you need torque and that 90n-m motor is a good choice. Also, rear motor/drive is better than front hub motor.

So, originally they said it was one thing, then they told me the website was wrong and it was something else, but when I received the trike it was different. I don't have access to it at the moment, but its narrow in the back. The measurement they advertise is between the plastic nut cap on the axle, which is total width. But, the width for considering stability is outside of the tire to outside the tire. I don't know if they have made any more changes. I have not heard of any.
