That Les Paul guitar he’s playing was on an airplane that crashed in Venezuela between gigs in 1980 and was presumed destroyed. As it turns out, the guitar was recovered and used by another musician. A luthier was hired to do some work on the guitar and recognized it as Frampton’s and 32 years after he lost it, Frampton’s prize Les Paul was returned to him.

Peter Frampton first gained world attention as the rhythm guitarist to Steve Marriott (Small Faces fame) lead guitar and lead vocals in the band, Humble Pie a British super-group. Their album, “Live at the Fillmore” was epic.
🤣🤣We knew it was coming. You're chatting along "I like his voice, I wonder what he's going to do next" Wait for it. . .There it is!!! That's what we hooked into all those years ago. Perfect reaction.
Yeah, Hocus pocus by focus and Frankenstein by Edgar winter group. Those magical moments when they just blow you away. And when we grew up we didn't have videos. We could only listen and imagine or see the live show. And then MTV showed up and all the sudden we could get that stuff. Sure the midnight special and other stuff was on occasionally but they would seriously limit what the artists were allowed to do. And that was before VCR. So if you didn't catch the show you didn't see it. End of story. Hey black Pegasus: please give Renaissance trip to the fair reaction
Frampton Comes Alive! Album reached number one on the Billboard 200 the week ending 10 April 1976, spending a total of 10 non-consecutive weeks in the top spot through October. It was the best-selling album of 1976 and has sold over 8 million copies in the United States. Frampton Comes Alive! was voted "Album of the Year" in a 1976 Rolling Stone readers' poll. It stayed on the chart for 97 weeks and was still No. 14 on Billboard's 1977 year-end album chart. It was ranked No. 41 on Rolling Stone's "50 Greatest Live Albums of All Time" list.Readers of Rolling Stone ranked it No. 3 in a 2012 poll of all-time favourite live albums. In 2020, Frampton Comes Alive! was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
Check out "Baby I love your Way". No auto tune just pure talent. Every young person in the 70s had the album Frampton comes Alive. I played it over and over.
Frampton Comes Alive was HUGE! Great Guitarist was in Humble Pie before going solo. Check out HPs Hallelujah I Love You So or I Don't Need No Doctor. 👍👍👍
Yes, Frampton is the one who introduced us to the talk box. Frampton Comes Alive was EVERYWHERE when it hit - you couldn't walk five steps without hearing it that summer.
He just made it popular, I remember seeing a guitarist use one on either "Don Kirshner's Rock Concert" or "The Midnight Special" years before Joe Walsh or Frampton.
Peter Frampton is one of the most underrated guitartists!! Baby I love your way & Show me the way are two of his bigger songs! Definitely worth checking out more by him!
I think Columbia Records shipped a copy of "Frampton Comes Alive" [1976] , a tour de force double album, to every household in America whether they asked for it or not! LOL and aren't we glad they did, I still listen to that album today and it STILL gives me goosebumps. FWIW, Peter didnt invent the Talk Box, but he did tweak it [he actually has a patent for his own Talk Box line] and this might have been the song that introduced it to the masses. The live performance on Frampton Comes Alive will blow you away, and also introduce you to his versatility. He truly is one of the great R&R guitarists of all time.
Actually the first high powered talk box was created by Bob Heil for Joe Walsh which he used on Rocky Mountain Way. Peter Frampton even paid tribute to Bob Heil for it.
The entire Frampton Comes Alive is an amazing album. Baby I Love Your Way, Show Me The Way and Something's Happening are songs worth checking out. One of my favorite guitar players, up there with Steve Miller, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jeff Healey.
Baby I Love Your Way was the real big hit for him! Between the box and the music’s classic, “love song…but still cool” sound, millions noticed him!! Just about every wedding for the following 2 years used it as their wedding song. Love the show BP!
Peter Frampton is from across the pond as they say and actually went to high school with David Bowie. Peter's dad was the art teacher at the school. Peter started playing in bands at the age of 12 and by 18 was in a fairly well known band called the Herd. From there he would go onto Humble Pie (you should check them out) and then a solo career. He is famous for his use of the talk box and in 1977 his album "Frampton Comes Alive" ruled the world. After that he was in a car crash and got hooked on drugs and fell out of the scene for a while in the 80s. Until, that is, his old friend David Bowie took him on tour as his guitar player and kick-started his career again. Frampton's been going ever since and has made it clear how thankful he was to Bowie. He is still out touring and putting out albums. However, several years ago he was diagnosed with a muscular disease that is starting to affect his mobility. He now sits and plays on stage during a concert and walks with a cane. He recently was given a guide dog as well who can assist him. His spirits are still high and he is just a great all-around guy (can you tell I'm a huge fan??? LOL). I hope you check out more of his stuff. Enjoy!
He lived here in cincy (cincinnati) for a long time. Within the last 2 years (?) He sold his home and I think he moved to Tennessee. That part escapes me
@@andreadeamon6419 yes, he married a woman from Cincinnati. He actually used to go to the eye doctor I worked for for a while but he would make special appointments on the weekend to come in, so I was never working when he came in. Frampton was in the band Humble Pie before going solo.... The lead singer in that band was Steve Marriott. He is a singer.... Check out their Black Coffee.
Peter Frampton was huge! "Frampton Comes Alive" was a double live album. Everyone had it. Constant airplay on every radio station. I didn't know anyone who didn't have the album. I was at the concert, RFK Stadium, Washington DC, June 1976. And for those that don't know, back in the 70's, all we had was Midnight Special on TV, no MTV. There was no cable tv, no VCRs or DVRs to record shows so you could watch it again. You had to wait up until midnight on Saturday nights to watch.
This man exudes pure joy when he is playing!! So fun to watch. You should check out a performance he did at a guitar festival a couple of years ago with Eric Clapton of - While My Guitar Gently Weeps. They are both in their 70s now, the performance is mesmerizing.
Talk about GOOD TIMES, saw him live and had the album. Put on great show, and this was the 1st time, I and we ever heard about the voice box, that’s what we called it. Memories 😢, missed those days. Yes had to work to buy my ticket, but, if there was some good bands and solos I wanted to see, would do it all over again.
Frampton is now 74. He announced a farewell tour and subsequent retirement after revealing his IBM diagnosis. Then COVID hit. He recently stated "I’m basically having the time of my life. I can’t believe the audiences and I can’t believe where I am at in my career at this point. I never thought I’d be back playing at this level. So, every day is a great day for me. @@joankisloski6972 I saw him at The Greek Theatre last year. It was raining like crazy right up until showtime. I wish him the best. My older sister died from IBM. I didn't know they had found a cure for it. I bought his album Peter Frampton Comes Alive back in the 70's . Still have it. One of the best albums ever.

Frampton is amazing. Have a listen to Show Me The Way for voice box excellence. Did anyone else pick up a touch of Small Faces Tin Soldier around the 15 minute mark?
I graduated in 79 as well, the last of the boomers! When I tell these younger folks about what it was like I tell them that I graduated the same year that the kids on That 70s Show graduated from high school. How ridiculously realistic it was down to the most minute detail.😊

Frampton played in : Humble Pie - Srgt Peppers Lonely Heart Club Band movie / musical with the Bee Gees - and played at the Eric Clapton Crossroads Festival.
The Midnight Special. A must do every weekend when I was growing up. I learned about so many musical artists and genres that way. Too bad there’s nothing like it today.
Yes, Peter Frampton is still jamming. The Doobie Brothers and he did an amazing cover of Eric Clapton's "Let it Rain" remotely in the middle of covid. As far as his body of work, as others have mentioned his "Frampton Comes Alive" is one of the top selling live albums of all time.
Peter Frampton is still alive & kicking & is one of the greatest guitarists of rock. His memoir, “Do You Feel Like I Do”, is excellent. In it, he comes across as a most humble guy. Fitting that early in his career, he helped found the great Humble Pie.
Love him...Let me first say not all groupies were lucky enough to sleep with the band, lol. I was concidered a groupie. See back then when we didnt have spotify, social media, etc. u had to literally follow ur fav bands which made u a groupie. I would have followed him anywhere, if only I had the cash. Easy enough that before I could drive we could hitch a ride. Yes, we would hitch hike outta state at 12, 13, 14, 15 yrs old etc. to see our fav bands. Ahhhh, the memories, Thanx so much, Peace
Yes, Peter was the artist who made the "talk box" famous. The version of this song from his album "Frampton Comes Alive" is actually a little over 14 minutes long with extended use of the "talk box", as well as some amazing keyboard action! This is definitely in my top 5 all-time favorites. And yes, he's still around! He was just inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year -- about 40 years past-due! Thanks for this great reaction! ✌💙✌
That white box on the floor in front of him is not only a "Talkbox" but that is the original. He bought it from the inventor himself. You are looking at the very first one! Richie Sambora did use one in Bon Jovi and Joe Perry of Aerosmith had a wireless one that he used on Sweet Emotion. Peter Frampton first came into prominence as a teenager as a member of Humble Pie. He is still around but plays very few concerts because of his health. He has to sit in a chair when performing.
Goes to show. We had the best music from the 60s to the mid-eighties. I grew up listening to a lot of this in the sixties and seventies. It just was a different time. You gotta watch the movie blazing saddles. It was a time to where we all could laugh at one another and not get insulted
Peter Kenneth Frampton (born 22 April 1950) is an English-American guitarist, singer and songwriter who rose to prominence as a member of the rock bands the Herd and Humble Pie. Later in his career Frampton found significant success as a solo artist. He has released several albums, including his breakthrough album, the live recording Frampton Comes Alive! (1976), which spawned several hit singles and has earned 8× Platinum by the RIAA in the United States. He has also worked with various other acts such as Ringo Starr, the Who's John Entwistle, David Bowie, and both Matt Cameron and Mike McCready of Pearl Jam and Joe Bonamassa. Frampton is known for his signature hit songs "Show Me the Way", "Baby, I Love Your Way", "Do You Feel Like We Do", and "I'm in You", all of which remain staples of classic rock radio. He has also appeared as himself in television shows such as The Simpsons, Family Guy, and Madam Secretary. In 2024, Frampton was selected as an inductee for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

I remember when this song was released. I was 19 and had major knee surgery. I was stuck at home listenening to WPLR radio. Loved the song, then saw what he looked like. Ummm yeah lol This album was huge that year.
The talk box was invented back in 1939 but most of us (geezers) remember when Joe Walsh brilliantly utilized it on the Rocky Mountain Way track in ‘73. You know Joe Walsh from The Eagles. You would surely enjoy looking into Walsh’s catalog. He’s a very witty guy.
Frampton Comes Alive was one of my favorite. I was playing guitar a lot back then and we all wanted to be stars. Lol I'm 63 years old now and my grandboys think Grandma is a rockstar.😊

🤣🤣We knew it was coming. You're chatting along "I like his voice, I wonder what he's going to do next" Wait for it. . .There it is!!! That's what we hooked into all those years ago. Perfect reaction.
yep…just give Peter another minute…
You could tell he is like "why is he not in the middle....there is a mic there...."
It's always fun when these youngsters get to "that part" in certain songs, like Texas Flood at El Mocombo, Hocus Pocus, Frankenstein, The End etc.
I said, "Here it comes," and watch his eyes get really big. His expression was priceless.
@@peghead Didn't mean to imply he was the first to use it - just that it was the first time most people had heard one.
"Show me the Way" is another great song I know you will love
Peter Frampton is one of the most underrated guitartists!! Baby I love your way & Show me the way are two of his bigger songs! Definitely worth checking out more by him!
There’s that word again…
"Midnight Special" on Friday night and "Don Kirshner's Rock Concert" on Saturday night. Couldn't wait to see both of them every week!
Also American Bandstand....We had the very very best childhood ever. I graduated in 1979 and am so very grateful.
Yes it's Peter. Love his music.
Peter Frampton was the GOAT back in the 70"s and was the first to popularize the talk box in a song.
I would argue that one with you being a Jeff Beck junky but this IS Peter Frampton’s song that he IS reacting to so I will kindly bow out right now.
Actually the first high powered talk box was created by Bob Heil for Joe Walsh which he used on Rocky Mountain Way. Peter Frampton even paid tribute to Bob Heil for it.
@@kevinsykes2549 ; There it is. I was looking for the first person to give it to the creator and Joe Walsh. You are the winner.
He had to build his own talk box... it was not something you could buy off-the-shelf then.
ROTFLMAO
He’s also a great guitarist!
They are sitting there so calmly. How???? He was so incredible. EVERYONE owned Frampton Comes Alive. And no one was sitting still.
We were polite folk back in the day…
The entire Frampton Comes Alive is an amazing album.
Peter Frampton groupie here❤️thanks for reacting to him
❤"I'm In You" is another great Frampton song. I haven't seen any reactions to it.
This version is the way you saw Peter in Concert.......the Magician he is, LIVE.
Yes Frampton on Was Earliest Rock Artist To Use Talk Box/Vocoder in Music. ELO Was Second used It In Mr Blue Sky on Out Of The Blue Album
Enjoy!
The called him "Pretty Boy Frampton" when he was in Humble Pie.
But I did get to talk to him on the radio once...such a sweet guy. And yes, he lives in Nashville now.
@@Mogogirl1967 so you're still here. I'm moved down here from Cleveland. Lived in Middletown for a while, then cincy and just bought a home in Hamilton. I still see a dr down there off of glenway and then at a hospital by the zoo. Besides that the rest of my drs are close by
@@Mogogirl1967 Emilio estevez still owns a home there from what I understand. Just hope he doesn't visit much - crime has skyrocketed there
I was 14 when this song came out. We had some of the best music in the years of my youth. Nothing today compares to it.
I was 21 in 75, and every lass I knew would walk on gilded splinters for Frampton.
He’s as bald as I am now. Life is a great leveller.
And, turn the antenna, for different channels!
This man exudes pure joy when he is playing!! So fun to watch. You should check out a performance he did at a guitar festival a couple of years ago with Eric Clapton of - While My Guitar Gently Weeps. They are both in their 70s now, the performance is mesmerizing.
I grew up in this era and used to watch the Midnight Special all the time! I love Peter Frampton and this song had so much airplay! Groovy!!!
Same
My first time watching Midnight Special, Barry Manalow was on!!! After that I never misses an episode, loved the Midnight Special !!!
Show Me the Way, and Baby I Love Your Way. That's the next two Frampton tracks you should do. I'm sure there are more. And yes he's still around.
Pure genius!!! There will NEVER be a show like the Midnight Special ever again sadly....
one hit isn't genius. LOL
Inductionthe into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s class of 2024.
@@joankisloski6972 I saw him at The Greek Theatre last year.
It was raining like crazy right up until showtime.
Everyone put on their raincoats or ponchos, and most of the audience stayed for the entire show, in a light drizzle.
Peter was very nice, so humble, and so grateful that so many people stayed in the rain to see him. Ya gotta love the guy... 🤙😎
I wish him the best. My older sister died from IBM. I didn't know they had found a cure for it. I bought his album Peter Frampton Comes Alive back in the 70's . Still have it. One of the best albums ever.
I saw him on his retirement tour at Riverbend in Cincinnati. He did stop touring for a bit but now he is on the "Never say Never" tour. What a talented performer!
@@jeffgay4290Actually, the "Never Ever Say Never" 2024 tour (the 2023 tour was "Never Say Never"). I saw him back in March at Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. He played over two and a half hours.... bought a hat and shirt. I'm sure he played just as incredibly there in Cincinnati. Well worth the years I waited to see him... a true legend!
Frampton is amazing. Have a listen to Show Me The Way for voice box excellence. Did anyone else pick up a touch of Small Faces Tin Soldier around the 15 minute mark?
That Frampton comes alive. Album is awesome.
The TPO LIVE Lp EAZY,
This was one of many hits off a double album. It was HUGE!
I am so glad I was born in the early 60's and graduated high school in 79'. We grew up with best music!
I graduated in 79 as well, the last of the boomers! When I tell these younger folks about what it was like I tell them that I graduated the same year that the kids on That 70s Show graduated from high school. How ridiculously realistic it was down to the most minute detail.😊
Same here!
Me too.and my older brother had a2 and a half foot high stack of albums...
For me 1963...and mum was a classical pianist and loved various ones of the records my brother bought
Born in '64, graduated in '82. The music was awesome. I miss those days.
Same here!
This was one of those jams to fire one up and sit back and chill in the treehouse and zone out to!! He was great
He made an album FRAMPTON LIVE. I LISTENED TO IT 10,000 times lol
I saw Framptom in 1976 the week Framptom Comes; Alive was released in my market. That was one of my 2 favorite concerts of all time. React to 30 Days in the Hole when he was a member of Humble Pie. It sounded like the boys were having so much fun!
Frampton played in : Humble Pie - Srgt Peppers Lonely Heart Club Band movie / musical with the Bee Gees - and played at the Eric Clapton Crossroads Festival.
Started with Humble Pie rock band out of England before going solo. He is being elected to the Rock snd Roll Hall of Fame this year.
Super talented Peter Frampton.
The Midnight Special. A must do every weekend when I was growing up. I learned about so many musical artists and genres that way. Too bad there’s nothing like it today.
Frampton Comes ALIVE is considered one of the BEST albums of all time. He is an amazing guitarist!
Oh man my friend
You are in for a treat
FRAMPTON IS DA BOMB!!! Best LIVE performer ever❤You can see how much fun his personality is by watching this performance. He's the best talk boxer.
Do the version from Frampton comes Alive! Peter is one of the best of all time!
I saw him about 4 years ago on his farewell tour. The end of an era, He was fabulous and I knew every song.
'Do you FEEL' woke?! Love it 🙂
Telling ya , dude. The 70s were the BEST time ever for music. My teenage years. So glad I got to live thru those days.
I'm in tears.😢 Wow! I remember watching this with my big brother who just got his Fryre leather jacket with the all the tassels. 😅...So so so many of them. I'm gotta send this reaction to him too. I bet one of his kids has got ahold of that jacket. Maybe one of those those kid's kids gotta got it by now.😊
Setting in the mountains listening to eight tracks/cassette drinking beer playing Frampton and scaring the wildlife!!
LOVED seeing your face when he hit that talk box! Boy did you give me a grin. THAT'S what I'm talking about. ❤ 🔥 Now share that with your friends. 😅
BP, you nailed it when you said Frampton is an artist who is feeling his music and becomes one with his instrument. Facts. Stellar musician who is probably the happiest guitarist on the planet.
Loved this! Try Humble Pie, Thirty Days In The Hole. Peter even younger then, but no talk box.
Hot summer day in 75-76, Frampton is playing, and it's all good!!!
Frampton Comes Alive was one of my favorite. I was playing guitar a lot back then and we all wanted to be stars. Lol I'm 63 years old now and my grandboys think Grandma is a rockstar.😊
Pete Frampton was HUGE in the 70s, He started them in a Band called "Humble Pie" who are well worth checking out, they were one of the 1st "Super groups".
I think he put the talk box on the map,he was the first ,we had never heard anything like that .He had the hottest album,& for about a year the hottest show on tour, I'm latino a we were all crazy about his music. He was fronting a band as lead guiterist at fifteen years of age that's how good he was!
No one has more fun onstage than Peter. Saw him twice and the joy on his face is so apparent.
Frampton Comes Alive was THE album!!!
He is one of the most talented guitar artists of all time and he invented the Framtone mouth piece
He didn't invent it, he perfected it.
Nice. I loved that you said he was one with his instrument before you even saw the talkbox. I was in the Corps and introduced a friend of mine to this song (I think it was his live in 76 album. One of the greatest and best selling live albums of all time. I remember my buddy being blown away. Very cool.
Frampton comes alive I think is the name of that album.
Midnight Special was the bomb back in the day! I'm old and the gray matter isn't as pliable as it used to be, but Peter Frampton is the first talk box user I remember hearing. Frampton Comes Alive is still one of my favorite albums.
I saw Framton in concert with Jack Bruce and Ringo Starr and more. Totally Assume. Love your channel.
Yes Peter was the first. He isn’t just using words but sounds and through his guitar. Brings back a lot of memories. It was the frampton comes live that we all bought and rocked out too with all our friends like a lot of our music.
Joe Walsh was using Bob Heil's high-powered talk box in 1973.

The 70's were awesome for music! Such talent, variety and fun. So Glad I was around for it😊
I remember my dad had an album of his in the 70’s when I was growing up It’s one of the only things I wants from him to pass down to me Music is a strong connection between people and generations
