    Peter Frampton was a musical prodigy, his father taught music at a British university and gave Jimmy Paige the idea to use a bow to play his guitar. The 60s and 70s era of great innovative music will never be duplicate.

      You know what? Your absolutely right !! Well there 2 bangers on here one is jumping jack flash and we know what the other epic sick ass tune is, do you feel . I can’t disagree with you tho. I got my old album out frampton comes Alive. I had not played it in years and I was thinking, damn mr upside down is right. Most all these songs kinda sorta really suck. They don’t even sound like do you feel ( like we do ). It was a awesome performance for its time, actually it’s timeless but this man was a genius because he wrote one incredible tune knowing that one tune would sell millions and millions and just laid back on the other songs. So yea I for sure get you. And I completely agree but like I said, I think it sold mostly because of the little girls that had. Crush on him . Lol , so crazy. The man made gazillions from that one song because I have just made my mind up. The rest suck big time except for jumping jack flash. Frampton adds more guitar in it .

As it turns out, the guitar was recovered and used by another musician. I was at the concert, RFK Stadium, Washington DC, June 1976. And for those that don't know, back in the 70's, all we had was Midnight Special on TV, no MTV. There was no cable tv, no VCRs or DVRs to record shows so you could watch it again. You had to wait up until midnight on Saturday nights to watch.

    Frampton was known as the artist who made the talk box famous. Frampton's talk box was used to transfer the guitar's sound through a plastic tube attached to a microphone. The effect is Frampton's melodic guitar simulating speech while asking the audience on the live track "Do You Feel Like We Do?" Frampton also now sells his own line of custom-designed "Frampton" products, including the talk box.

    Peter Frampton is from across the pond as they say and actually went to high school with David Bowie. Peter's dad was the art teacher at the school. Peter started playing in bands at the age of 12 and by 18 was in a fairly well known band called the Herd. From there he would go onto Humble Pie (you should check them out) and then a solo career. He is famous for his use of the talk box and in 1977 his album "Frampton Comes Alive" ruled the world. After that he was in a car crash and got hooked on drugs and fell out of the scene for a while in the 80s. Until, that is, his old friend David Bowie took him on tour as his guitar player and kick-started his career again. Frampton's been going ever since and has made it clear how thankful he was to Bowie. He is still out touring and putting out albums. However, several years ago he was diagnosed with a muscular disease that is starting to affect his mobility. He now sits and plays on stage during a concert and walks with a cane. He recently was given a guide dog as well who can assist him. His spirits are still high and he is just a great all-around guy (can you tell I'm a huge fan??? LOL). I hope you check out more of his stuff. Enjoy!

    Peter Kenneth Frampton (born 22 April 1950) is an English-American guitarist, singer and songwriter who rose to prominence as a member of the rock bands the Herd and Humble Pie. Later in his career Frampton found significant success as a solo artist. He has released several albums, including his breakthrough album, the live recording Frampton Comes Alive! (1976), which spawned several hit singles and has earned 8× Platinum by the RIAA in the United States. He has also worked with various other acts such as Ringo Starr, the Who's John Entwistle, David Bowie, and both Matt Cameron and Mike McCready of Pearl Jam and Joe Bonamassa.
    Frampton is known for his signature hit songs "Show Me the Way", "Baby, I Love Your Way", "Do You Feel Like We Do", and "I'm in You", all of which remain staples of classic rock radio. He has also appeared as himself in television shows such as The Simpsons, Family Guy, and Madam Secretary. In 2024, Frampton was selected as an inductee for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

    Bob Heil developed the first high-powered talk box in 1973 for Joe Walsh's Barnstorm tour, making it the first device that could be used reliably on high-level rock stages. Heil and Walsh, both ham radio operators, combined a 250-watt JBL driver and hi-pass filter for Walsh's single "Rocky Mountain Way."

      Not sure if there is a difference between what you are explaining but I do know that Iron Butterfly used a talk box in the late 60s. If you want to see it there is a video of them doing Butterfly Blue Live. I notice you said high-powered talk box so maybe different than what they were using. I am not sure.

      Before the Heil version of the talk box, there was the "The Bag" by Kustom. You actually slung it over your shoulder. John Kay of Steppenwolf and both Mike Pinera and Rhino from Iron Butterfly were early experimenters in the very late '60s. There's a great video of Stevie Wonder using it with his keyboard on the David Frost Show in '72. You can find it here on RUclips. Jeff Beck started using it live in '73 and it can be heard on the Blow By Blow album. There's a RUclips video of him demonstrating it. Search for: 1974: JEFF BECK's Guitar Setup | Five Faces of the Guitar | Classic BBC Music | BBC Archive. David Gilmour of Pink Floyd used it live in '74 and on the Animals album.

    I'm a huge fan of Peter Frampton all my life. They said, back then, that he was the first one to make the guitar talk and he had the longest note played with the guitar. He has more songs that are fantastic. Like "Baby, I love your way" and "Lines on My Face". He is sick and can't play no more.

The version of this song from his album "Frampton Comes Alive" is actually a little over 14 minutes long with extended use of the "talk box", as well as some amazing keyboard action! This is definitely in my top 5 all-time favorites. And yes, he's still around! He was just inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year -- about 40 years past-due! Peter Kenneth Frampton (born 22 April 1950)[1] is an English-American guitarist, singer and songwriter who rose to prominence as a member of the rock bands the Herd and Humble Pie.[2] Later in his career Frampton found significant success as a solo artist. He has released several albums, including his breakthrough album, the live recording Frampton Comes Alive! (1976), which spawned several hit singles and has earned 8× Platinum by the RIAA in the United States.[3] He has also worked with various other acts such as Ringo Starr, the Who's John Entwistle, David Bowie, and both Matt Cameron and Mike McCready of Pearl Jam and Joe Bonamassa.

    Peter Framton was in the band "Humble Pie" when he decided to set out on his own. After a couple of albums that didn't do well and a couple of tours, he was $1M in debt. He still owed the record company two albums so he and his manager decided to do a two disc live album to meet their obligation and then declare bankrupcy. The album called "Frampton Comes Alive" became at the time the top selling album of all time and held that title until the 80s when it was only dethroned by Michael Jackson's "Thriller".

    • @shiroibasketshoes
      @shiroibasketshoes 20 дней назад

      Overall at the end of the 70s? Or just top selling live album of all time before “Thriller”? I have serious doubts about this. I thought, "Dark Side Of The Moon"? "The Wall"? "Back In Black"? "Rumours"? "Saturday Night Fever"? "Tapestry"? "Bat Out Of Hell"? I've been trying to find charts of what were the best selling albums of all time as of 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980...I just find best selling albums released those individual years. But I did read that as of the present day, "Frampton Comes Alive!" sold 17 million worldwide. But as of 1980. Fleetwood Mac's "Rumours" had sold 13 million so far. As of 1980, I don't know how much "Frampton Comes Alive!" had already sold. But it is hard to believe it was over 13 million that long ago. How do you know that as of 1980 and 1981, before Michael Jackson's "Thriller," Peter Frampton's "Frampton Comes Alive!" had overall outsold Pink Floyd's "Dark Side Of The Moon" and other albums I cited?
