aww, man we loved this movie (The Kids Are All Right)! every Who fan ought to see it. when it came out we went back on more than one occasion to see it again; superb & hilarious Moon!
EPIC! Such an adorable rendition of the Beach Boys I certainly hope they got to see this because it certainly shows admiration from one band to another with all the respect in the world and they look like they had a lot of fun doing it that's what I love about an epic ban like The Who and of course the All-American Beach Boys it was already known fact that the Beatles had mad respect for Brian Wilson and Pet Sounds as much as Brian Wilson in The Beach Boys had respect for Rubber Soul from the Beatles make no mistake these bands back then had true admiration and respect for one another unlike anything you see today God Bless America! The music that once was of course the first British Invasion because the second one which was the 80s I had no use for I'm sorry but the Flock of Seagulls and bands like that just to me was not a sound I enjoyed long live the bands from the 60s and 70s Emoji ❤️
This is from Jeff Stein's movie "The Kids Are All Right". While they were in the studio filming this, they asked Jeff what he wanted them to play, he requested Barbara Ann. I love that they did it here although they recorded this song many years before on one of their first albums.. don't recall which one though. This is just fun. Side note: Keith died before the film was released. The band saw it as a fitting tribute to him.
They are having a lot of fun for sure. They were capable at times of pretty good harmonies such as the opening to A Quick One (Rolling Stones' Rock and Roll Circus).
Jesus entwistle was a freaking master !!!! My god do you hear the walking he is doing on that bass. I like how tight he is with Keith soon as Keith sped up for a split second during Pete’s solo , John was right there in the pocket
I'm so glad someone re-uploaded this, the definitive best video on RUclips. When I went to watch it in the morning (Like I do every other morning) I was shocked to see that I couldn't find it. Some absolute prick had taken it down, and that wasn't on. Thanks for the upload you beautiful man.
this is the most ridiculous musical thing ever. how ridiculous? Keith is the voice of reason here. he really pulled off the double duty of drumming/singing. I miss John Entwistle (RIP).
Keith and Pete crack me up every time I watch this. That being said, I would've loved to be a sound engineer or even the camera guy for jam sessions like this.
Look at the boys having some fun like they did in the old days. I love how John jumps down into the bass register while singing harmony with Roger, and Keith's overall performance, especially towards the end where he burst out laughing.
The humor with the who.. Love it the banter on live gigs...between them. Off to see the WHO....1ST APRIL ..NEC.. With out these guys there would be no Heavy rock.. As they instigated the Marshall 100 watt stack.. And influenced malcom young to start AC/DC.. WE SALUTE YOU....
EU era criança quando em 1980 e 1981 tinha entre 4 anos pra 5 anos pois sou de 01 de janeiro de 1976 hoje 2023 já estou com 47 anos de idade ok pessoal 👍👍👍🙏👏👏👏😀😀🇧🇷🇯🇵
Pete tried to step up, but John took him to school. Sorry kids, it just happened in front of your eyes. Nothin’ against Pete. He just doesn’t have the mustard that Keith and John did.
Was this recorded during the "Who By Numbers" sessions? I don't feel is was taped during the "Who Are You" sessions because Moonie had saved by that time. The beard is totally associated with his time in Los Angeles. They are clearly in a studio. You can see the tape recorders.
Keith Moon loved Surfer music like the Beach Boys and Jan and Dean BRIAN WILSON AND COMPANY GOT PAID. This was 42 years ago, 1978. The movie "the kids are alright" was released in 1979, that's what this clip is from.
Pete seems to be the one who cares least about this track. That doesn’t prevent him from smashing it all up in his usual outrageous guitar style though😆
That duck walk was so perfect
Yep
That’s a Chuck Berry move 😱
Right !
you can't even see Entwistle but when they go into the musical interlude you sure hear him.
An awesome bass player who invented death metal singing with Boris The Spider. If you listen closely; you can hear Boris!
Steady old Ox
@@drivinsouth651 definitely not, maybe the only person to sing an entire line while burping though
@@chickenbiscuitbabyyewww9580he did its a fact
I love how ininocent Keith Moon's vocal harmony sounds, especially in contrast to his hilariously dangerous antics. Best version of the song
New found respect for The Beach Boys and their harmonies. Amazing what they did, to me the best American band
The Beach Boys have had a huge following in the UK for decades and were a big influence on the Who and other Brit bands.
Their version is a cover too
beach boys are the best but seconding the eagles, eagles are the best american band
They're legendary. Alot going on in their music
José Noriega do the Eagles have any albums better than pet sounds?
Absolutely wonderful! Pete duck-walking, Keith laughing, The 'Oooo enjoying a jam... It doesn't get any better than that!
aww, man we loved this movie (The Kids Are All Right)! every Who fan ought to see it. when it came out we went back on more than one occasion to see it again; superb & hilarious Moon!
I saw it in the movie theaters on it's first day in my area. Yes, a must for any Who fan!
Well said fellow Who fan! I have less than 10 DVDS. The Kids Are Alright is one of them. Saw it in theatre. I
Dropped me device! I personally think their goofing on BBoys! . . And that a good thing. Love the Moon!😎
' THEY are'
GREAT movie. I saw it a few times. I will look for it again.
I come back to this video whenever I'm sad/ in need of a rock out. Never fails. Moon's facial express and eyebrows just kill me
A band enjoying doing a song together and cracking up as they do so . . . this is what I wish all of music was like
What a gem. I think the best performer bands of all time. Glad they existed.
The Beatles, The Who and The beach Boys... I don't need any thing else
@Ed love them , but I can live without them :)
I would add Pink Floyd and die in peace.
Try the doors or sabath

I think the recording was on Rarities Vol 1. I could be wrong thogh
You can find it in "A Quick One"
0:32 ba baa
Pete struggles to find the harmony.
Not as easy as the Beach Boys made it look
3:05 Moonie laugh cracks me up!
Townshends' effortless playing style never ceases to amaze me
@@deepsix1827 yeah dude, they're doing a one off cover while rehearsing in a studio lmao, are you new to music? 😅

Its fucking hilarious watching this band try to harmonize
They are having a lot of fun for sure. They were capable at times of pretty good harmonies such as the opening to A Quick One (Rolling Stones' Rock and Roll Circus).
They did great harmonies, dumbass. It's just that they weren't completely familiar with the song they were covering.
Actually, they did some great harmony as long as Keith wasn’t singing…
A few of The Who's early albums Pete wrote songs where they had good harmonies
Jesus entwistle was a freaking master !!!! My god do you hear the walking he is doing on that bass. I like how tight he is with Keith soon as Keith sped up for a split second during Pete’s solo , John was right there in the pocket
Keith Moon you are missed so much. One of a kind RIP
1:57 the way Pete just stomps the boost cutting off the solo as if to say “well nuff that sh**”.
“Another solo eh?” “YEAH!” *proceeds to shred on drums*
while moons singing who sees the bose speakers.moon loved the beach boys
Pete: "NOW??!!" (01:40) 😂

This is great! I couldn't stop laughing....Watched it over and over. They had a blast! Love this video. Thank you!!

Pete jumping and dancing around as the young man he was. Love it!

Excellent! Thanx for posting
Awww Moonie!😍
Woe this us new one for me lole it soo good the who doing this sounds amazing gas to be said favourite Beach Boys!! Wow moment
1:29 I didn't realize Judd Hirsch was in the Who..
what i find kinda crazy is that Keith Moon is 3 years younger than Roger Daltrey but here he looks like he is so much older than Roger.
They would have totally crushed this in the studio for vinyl. SOOOO CLOSE! AAARRAGHH!
Roger recently stated that all Keith ever wanted was to drum for The Beach Boys.
THOSE WERE LEGENDS
Keith Moon! " ... saw Barbara Ann & I almost shit my pants!"
.. Pete Townsed AND Keith Moon, the EPITOME of ROCK `n´ ROLL here not to forget THE OX and Roger Daltrey ..

Yes, Moonie's first group were The Beachcombers.
Wow cool

Hahaha the boys are mile out but its a craic watching them haha
Nice surprise!!
respectable
They are just playing around.
Keith Fucking Moon. If you can’t feel the energy coming off of him, I’m sorry for you. He was so full of life
John Entwistle was not fucking around on the the bass either. That was definitely one of the strongest rhythm sections in rock n roll
Pete tried to step up, but John took him to school. Sorry kids, it just happened in front of your eyes. Nothin’ against Pete. He just doesn’t have the mustard that Keith and John did.

this is a Regents song.

Pete Townshend is a great songwriter but he's probably the first to admit that he isn't great at understanding how to pick up a mic stand. 2:56

Can it be called "a Beach Boys song", when their version is also just a cover, even if it is the most popular?
When I found out that the Beach Boys didn't write this song it completely blew my mind.
Shit they got money from them I'm sure. Great song
