Fully agreed with nearly all of the points you made in this video, really well constructed response. The ending bit however, one of MatPat's most common pieces of advice was that there will never be "another" pewdiepie, mrbeast, etc. - because people need to focus on being themselves. He phrased it as "you need to be next YOU" and tbh It goes hand in hand with what you mentioned about tom Scott, how people are unable to replicate his style for a reason. Stellar vid tho :)

I've been making videos since LITERALLY when I was a toddler. It's sad to see people quit, but no one stays young and fresh forever :/ That's the sad truth. I hope you stay on the platform for long, and officially become one of the all time greats 🙂

I'm gonna be an aspiring RUclipsr myself and seeing some of my favorite RUclipsrs retire kind of hurt. But then I realized this was necessary. For them, they get the chance to start fresh and figure their next chapter after all the time, work, and effort into the channels. It's also necessary because new RUclipsrs are starting to come up and they'll be able to fill in. It'll give them a chance to shine for their hardwork. I hope that since I'll be apart of the next generation of RUclipsrs, that we'll make people like MatPat so very proud.

I remember first finding RUclips at 5 years old and watching Stampylonghead, DanTDM, Markiplier, Jacksepticeye for the next few years and I deeply miss those days, but luckily Jacksepticeye, Markiplier and DanTDM are still going strong however I don't really watch them anymore but I'm not sure about Stampylonghead because I've heard he's deleted his lovely world I think and I remember watching those videos when I was younger, Gosh it really is crazy to think that time of my life was 10 to 11 years ago now or close to it.

When I was 9 and into Five Nights at Freddy's, MatPat was my idol. He basically shaped me into who I am today, a curious person who overanalyzes everything. Seeing him quit was awful. Hope that he has a good life outside of RUclips!

Matpat was literally THE BEST theorist on THE RUclips PLATFORM. I hope matpat can spend time with his family and enjoy life. And Tom Scott was a pretty good RUclipsr too. I love meatcaynon’s funny skits but now he’s quitting. I loved all the guys too and they will be missed.

We used to NEVER have to type in "Weird Al Yankovic Can't Touch This parody song Can't watch this 4 minutes guy with accordion music" (I have to type in really specific search terms or find to find the video you're looking for without having to wade through 80% videos I've already watched, 15% videos that just have similar search terms but aren't related, 3% For You shit, 1.9999999999% videos that have the video you want as a clip in the video, and .0000000001% what you actually are looking for

As a new content creator I agree that it is incredibly hard to do the RUclips gig but the main thing I do is keep my honesty and keep being authentic. Also love the video man and I congratulate you on your success, keep up the good work.

I'm a small content creator. I don't do it for money, in fact I don't really care too much about the money. I do content creation because I enjoy it. When I say that I enjoy it, I mean that most of my day nowadays is devoted to content creation. I am really happy for MatPat and Tom Scott, they've achieved a lot. They inspire me. They're amazing people!

I really love how Ali Koca is posting more long term videos.
It is my next goal, to have the 2nd biggest commentary channel on youtube, hence why I have no plans on leaving anytime soon.
In my opinion it’s probably because that many of these creator set out a goal that they want to accomplish. And once they achieve that goal they start to take their time off spending their time on other things like taking care of their family or managing their daily life. Like for example. Pewdiepie when he reached 100 million subscribes he started to post less often and started to post more about his relationship with his wife and life. So the idea is these creators have essentially retired from their hard work. Making content for millions of people to see. And once accomplishing all of this they take their time off and began to live a more normal life.
They have different desires as time goes on

Sad to see the old youtubers quitting but they deserve that for all their hard work and i respect their choices
i wasnt some big shot youtube, but I was getting between 30-150k per video at one point, so here some insight I guess
I quit and privated 95% of my videos amost year ago. I stopped youtubing and moved over to streaming (was infinitely better in terms of revenue) and also have been working on putting that on the back burner. its just not my thing anymore man.....being "famous" or a "youtuber" isnt really what I want. Public eye where folks get so mad about every thing you say, watching viewership go up or down, comparing yourself to peers etc and overall mental health just plummets (least for me) Ive watched youtube take souls brother, I hate it now.
So I just let it all go and stopped striving for that "boujie" lifestyle. becoming a father changed that too, drastically.. social media is poisonous (at least to me) nobody lives in the moment anymore ya know? everyones so focused on such trivial things in life when tomorrow isnt promised. I just tell folks, pursue it if you wanna, but it iant for me anymore.

Once you talked about the dedicated communities of those 2 people and their strong communities it reminded me of another person Lynja quite loved in the cooking community by lots and on new years January first she died it was announced later on january 13th but it was sad and people showed their support and i believe this is what proves you made it as a person on youtube is when people miss you

@@TheAliKoca because of my nintendo switch I got for my birthday in February 2023 uploads have been slow on my social media, except youtube because I only started by posting my tiktoks to there in the summer of 2023, and now I have almost 6k views and almost 40 subscribers, I'm also working on my series called The Bendy's War Season 1 meaning there will eventually be a season 2, and it's about my plushies fighting over food, note the vids are not cannon to the games the plushies are based off of that being bendy and the ink machine, among us, minecraft, ect. I'll make a post on tiktok about bendy and his friends and family and their behavior, note his twin brother cartoon Bendy is a dhead. So u don't have to rate him unless u want to that's ok.
We will all miss these people. But there just comes a time when you decide that maybe it’s enough. You’ve accomplished a lot with your channel and you’ve been running it for a long time and you may want to do other things. And that’s ok
TL;DR while taking about the first matpat video I ever saw I think I've committed my self to try and become a content creator
God, I can still remember the first ever theory video i ever saw of Matpat ( how to survive the hunger games) and that was back when I was in 5th grade, I'm now a 21 years old and graduated high school back in 2020, went to college for a about a year and a half( give or take) before leaving for mental health reasons I won't get into here(though I will say I'm better over all).
Now for the past year or so I've been trying to gain the confidence to start my own channel but a mix of fear of what my family would say (even though I know that my parents would be ok with it so long as I could make money), lack of knowledge (filming, editing, ect), not knowing what to call said channel, and plain old ADHD and self-doubt keeping me from staying on track long enough. But this past week alone has felt like a sort of wake up call to a lot of people both creators and watchers alike as were moving into a new era of RUclips and ill be dammed if I don't at least try to do something with these Ideas that have been building up in my mind for years.
Hell at this point the only thing stopping me is the fact that I'm constantly second guessing my self, my lack of attention span (again I have ADHD(though apparently everyone has this now so I'm not sure how much this really says about me)) and the fact that the wall in my house were not made to block sound at all (As I type this I can literally hear my dad watching the news in my parents room and my mom and sister watch a show 2 rooms away) so yeah.=, here goes nothing.
Brother, I have adhd also. Being a youtuber is the best career path for someone who has adhd. It’s a never ending game filled with problem solving. Make it happen, never give up
I been around since 06/07 and still feel like I don't want to quit. Sadly, I'm also 38 now so I'm hoping to make videos until I'm in my 80s if I can. I just don't want to work at a boring job.

Its sad. But as Ali said, these guys deserve this. My dream is to become a content creator, and I know that as much as id love to do it; and I know for a fact that I couldnt do it for 15+ years. Some of these youtubers are genuinely on another level. Any person who does something in an industry that is extremely competitive for multiple years at a time are honestly on another level. I’m not gonna quit RUclips, like I never posted for awhile because I’ve been very busy sorting out and fixing things around the Internet and now because of this I feel like I have more things to clean up around here, don’t want any more household name RUclipsrs quitting we gotta sort out this mess.

6:37 this is something I noticed modern RUclips is pretty bad with. Most of the new content I see is just one big event being covered by 50 people and they all have the same stupid title like "___ is rock bottom" of "___ is getting worse", it's refreshing to see different content

When matpat quit i was actually like crying he was a huge part of my childhood and it makes me genuinely sad to see him go like he was the youtuber i stuck with because it never got old! He would post fnaf theories and batim theories and so many many more like he made a video of cool aid man being thanos if o remember correctly. He is a huge part of my on going childhood as i am still pretty Young but its so sad to see so any parts of your childhood just leave infront of your eyes like that. I highly enjoy making videos, but sometimes, people at my school kinda put pressure on me sometimes. And plus, with these RUclipsrs quitting, you can’t argue that it can come to our minds of thinking of quitting us too. But I still really enjoy making videos, it’s really fun. I'm one of the smaller channels that's been around RUclips since Jun 27, 2012, with 130 subscribers, and I pretty much retired before the end of 2022. I can't say it's because of burnout, but simply because life has really hurt me to a point I couldn't come back to RUclips. I've recently lost my aunt, I'm getting a new job, and I'm doing this and that- I just don't have time for it anymore. I want to come back, personally I do, but right now I'm focused on putting myself first after trying my best to put others before me. I just want to share this piece of advice I wish I had learned sooner: You matter. Your life and health matter. You are always loved. Never forget that.
My other thoughts on the video is yes, I'll miss seeing MattPatt and so many of my other favorite RUclipsrs that are on the verge of, or currently retiring from RUclips, but I'm glad that they're going to take care of themselves after many years/days of taking care of us by entertaining us. As the description box says, "Don't be sad because it's over, be happy/smile that it happened."
