  • The samurai wasp is a parasitoid wasp species in the family Scelionidae, native to east Asia but now found in Europe and America. It is chiefly known for parasitizing Halyomorpha halys (brown marmorated stink bug). It deposits eggs into the eggs of the stink bug. As the wasp larvae develop, they kill the stink bug eggs. A single adult wasp emerges from each stink bug egg.

Hi. Thanks for sharing the excellent video. However, "Samurai Wasp" refers specifically to Trissolcus japonicus, which has four parallel clypeal setae. At around 24 seconds, one can see that this wasp has only two, distally diverging, clypeal setae. So, this is not the Samurai Wasp, but a close relative.

Hey please help me...If you see a stinkbug egg it has a black triangular outline kind of thing, which remains attached to the shell after the nymph has hatched..I tried looking everywhere but couldn't find what it is..Do you know?

@@AnnuAparajita I'm not a stinkbug expert, but those are a special structure in the shell that helps the nymphs hatch out. Not sure the name of the structure
