Thank you for the video. I actually need to dismount the bars, so it will be helpful. I love that there is no annoying music, which many RUclips videos have, and that adds nothing. Silence would have been alright, but there is a calming background sound instead. Also, the fact that there are no words means that the video suits an international audience. I second others' views about the high quality of the video.
Has to be the best installation video I've seen., could happily watch this on repeat! Very calming. Recommended viewing even if you aren't looking to buy the roof bars!
I would NOT have been able to assemble my Thule system without this helpful video. The included instructions in the box do NOT show me I have to split the centre rubber. Many thanks.
I'm afraid this is the world we live in today. In the past you'd get an A4 written instruction in the language of the country of purchase; now you get a tiny booklet with pictures that only the designer could follow. The only part written is the warning and that is done in every country that has heard of the automobile. ....The tearing the rubber strip in two... Where does it show to do that in the book? NOBODY, who bought this new would think to do that. And they certainly wouldn't do that without being told! If the poor book is as good as it gets in the modern world, you might as well throw it away and sell the product with a tiny bit of paper with a barcode on it, which when scanned brings up this excellent video.
Fighting with the rubber strips......locating them is easy for 95% of the length, but...whilst this is a good video, hey Thule, why not cut the 118 rubber strips to the correct length - or better yet fit them in the factory? Already paying enough for this product and we have to finish building it for you.
Thank you for your valuable feedback to us Graeme! We appreciate that you took your time to comment your thoughts and we will make sure to forward them to the team. Have a great day!
@@desperadospam We have one length of this rubber strip to make it easy to install but also to replace when needed. When the strip is produced it is constructed in such a way that you need to split it to install it. It is a manual step to split and install that would add time and cost to the product.
very good video tutorial, zero words but everything is clear, high-quality visual presentation, that's how should look every instruction for any product in the world.
At 0:48 - it would be really helpful to have a close-up shot of the spring-loaded flange on the cylinder and the beveled insert. it took me a while to figure that out and I almost ruined one foot while trying to get the cylinder to fit.
Buyer's Guide for my subaru outback 2018 recommends me thule flush rail edge or evo but i don't see how would either fit since my closed roof rails don't have an edge on the outer side 😐

@affiliateninja88 Yes i bought the Thule Kit 186047 which fitted perfectly, unfortunately i sold the car last year and i swore myself never to buy diesel cars again 😂 since i had no luck with them.. I still have the kit tho, if you happen to live in Switzerland i might sell it to you 🙂
Unfortunately the video doesnt show that there are 2 different end caps depending on which side they are installed. They look very similar and I installed one on the wrong side and it broke. Also of you cut the weather stripping even slightly too long the end capps will not fit. I had to peel them back to trim them, which was fine, but now they will not fit back into the grooves. All this and i havent even installed them yet. Very frustrating
I have fitted on my VW Touran 2017 following the instructions, but I find the foot covers do not fit all the way on (flush). There is gap as the metal plate or fixing seems to protrude too far to allow me to get the cover all the way on. Any tips, or anyone else had this issue?
Hi John! If you please reach out to our customer support and attach some photos of the gap they will be happy to help you. You can reach them thru this link: support.thule.com/hc/en-gb/requests/new All the best, Thule
@@joshedwards9385 No, despite contacting Thule and trying based on advice received I wasn’t able to make them fit the Touran. I was very recently advised to claim under warranty. If you have any luck finding a compatible set I’d be interested to hear.

Useless system when you need a video for it. Get it installed by someone.. where are the company that challenge thule? In 2021 we need plugnplay not 100 +parts on the table.
Use WORDS in your instructions, not clicks and boops and beeps! These stupid things cost hundreds of dollars for little pieces of plastic and metal. Surely you can afford a translator! I completely hate this thing I bought.
Sorry to hear you do not like the video. The thought behind it is to show the mounting and make it globally available instead of having many different version in many languages. You also have the paper manual that comes with the products to use in local languages. If you still have trouble installing the roof rack please reach out to us on our support pages on thule.com
I'm still having difficulty working out the correct mountings for my Aero bars. I have a 2017 Citroen C4 Grand Picasso Flair, and the roof "rails" don't have a channel on either side. The only thing I can see is 2 "notches" on the inside of each rail. Has anyone else got the same car, and can confirm that these are the correct feet? I've got the old style Aero bars, but I'm assuming the channel that the feet slide into hasn't changed.
To find the correct fitting for you car please use our guide in the roof rack section on thule.com. You can also contact us through our support pages on thule.com
I have the same car. As Thule said the configurator will point you in the right direction. Parts 710600, 186011 and roof bars 711400 will fit the Grand Picasso / Spacetourer

Exactly, I had the same problem. After seeing the video, I managed to mount the bars quickly. Thule should improve on their instructions.
Makes one wonder if it would be too difficult for them to include the fact you have to split it first in their manual...
Probably THE best installation "how to" video I've seen. Well done. Thanks for making it easy!
Had the same experience while watching. Great animations and attention to detail. @thule
Probably the best installation video I've ever seen. The written instructions in the box were awful but this saved the day.

I got fooled as the top rubber strip comes as one and you need to split it down the middle to make the 2 parts
Worthwhile using a little silicon spray whilst fitting the rubber strips. They are tricky to fit in the grooves without it.
You dont have to slide it in from the side. You can easy put them in from top and press them down

does this kind of set up need specific "fit kit" for a flush mount rails?
It really bugs me how well made this is. I would watch this even if I didn't have to install the cross bars.
Don't even bother picking the instructions book up - just watch/follow this!
