I’ve watched that performance atleast 100 times by now and I still cry everytime because WOWOWOW
She was 22 when did that performance.
She wrote that song specifically for that performance.
That was the first time she ever performed that song in front of an audience.
The audience was instructed to keep their reactions calm and quiet by the production team.
Imagine how hurt you have to be to say “I sure won’t stay, but I’ll be damned if I ever leave”!🥺

I so agree. Every time I see this performance , I am shocked that the audience doesn't jump to their feet at the end and give her the props she deserves!
They knew she was filming (she told them) this song, and she asked the audience to stay as quiet as possible. I think that explains the reaction at the end-they didn’t want to ruin her take!!

Also I definitely recommend watching her October sky’s live performances it’s beautiful and it’s about her mother that committed suicide, a memory that she has of her mother when she was younger!!

@@cm9666 yes, unfortunately her mum committed suicide shortly after this performance though. That put her back. It has taken her three years to put out an album because of her grieving and taking her time.
