11:07 for this part Pau is singing the lower harmony. Ale actually comes in and sings "breathe in, breathe out" in high falsetto harmony
This song, from The Warning's third album *ERROR* (recorded in 2020 but released in 2022), dives into the crushing weight of overwhelming emotions. The protagonist doesn't seek escape but instead surrenders to the pain, asking to "let me drown" as a way of relinquishing the struggle. According to Pau, it's about being so consumed by feelings that you start to choke on them, offering the song as a space for listeners to feel comforted in their own struggles. Dany added that the music reflects the tension and struggle expressed in the lyrics, with every riff emphasizing that emotional battle. The song is a poignant depiction of hopelessness and emotional surrender.

Hearing Ale sing is the golden unicorn .. She has an excellent voice, but chooses to not sing solo much.. I envy those few lucky souls who have heard Ale sign lead on a few songs like Hunter and Red hands never fade when Dany needed a break. Whenever Ale signs, the crowd goes silent to fully appreciate her.

Not always, unfortunately. In Toronto, the crowd went absolutely nuts when Ale stepped up to the mic for her part in Choke. I remember it being fine hearing her voice live, but in my recording the crowd up at the front is partially drowning her out. People just get so excited for Ale!

If you want to hear Ale sing go to "The Warning Official Quarantine Show." It's from March 2020 right after their tour got canceled and they are in their basement practice room (The Warning Cave). Ale sings "Hunter" and it's at the 26:36 mark. Also check out "The Warning Perfect Pitch Challenge" and see who has the best pitch.

There’s also a video here on RUclips of the Preston and Steve Show for WMMR here in Philadelphia, with a full interview but also a performance of “Money” with a twist: Dany needed to rest her voice that day, so it was a stripped-down, almost acoustic version, with Pau singing lead and Ale singing backup as well as Dany’s “Give me that / I want that” lines. Ale managed to sound almost exactly like Dany.

Check out "Hunter" from The Warning cave and any other live version or "Red Hands (Never Fade)" as well to hear Alé singing lead.
Favorite original Warning song is "XXI Century Blood", the music video is epic. Their version of "Enter Sandman" is probably my favorite of theirs.

IMO one the things that makes these ladies so special is their ability to write sticky tunes. They all feel like songs I've heard before, but many years ago, and can't quite place it. There's a musical simplicity, but at the same time a complexity in how they arrange the songs. They all have a phantom familiarity and instant catchiness. I'm not sure I've ever heard a band that I was so immediately impressed and obsessed with since being a 10 year old hearing Guns n' Roses (dating myself) for the first time. They are legends in the making before our very eyes.

Ale also has small singing parts in the songs More and Hell You Call a Dream almost like counter melodies to Dany.
If you want to hear Ale’s falsetto, find the video for their song Sinister Smiles.
Ale sings mostly towards the bottom of her vocal range doing mostly low harmonies as you mentioned. She does have a beautiful timbre lower in her range but lacks Dany’s “power”.
Her “comfortable” range seems to be a bit higher than where she normally is tasked to sing at. She emotes better and has more power a little higher in pitch and can sound more like Dany when she sings higher.
Ale is referred to as a human metronome and she actually has perfect pitch recognition which is different than singing in perfect pitch which seems to be a common misconception in TWA.
If you watch “The Official Quarantine Show” video, Ale sings the song Red Hands Never Fade in its entirety. She also trades lead with Dany on the song Hunter.
After Hunter, Dany explains that as Ale matures she struggles with the verses in Hunter but is fine for the chorus because the verses are at the very bottom of Ale’s range.
Dany has the lowest vocal range of the sisters so Hunter is easy for her to sing. Dany can comfortably sing from the lower end of the 3rd octave to the middle of the 5th octave just using her chest and mixed voice and is getting comfortable flipping into head voice and using falsetto so expect the top of Dany’s vocal range to expand a bit more over the next couple of years as long as she stays vocally healthy.

The fact she has perfect pitch may actually be the reason she doesn't like to sign as much. In practice she is also close to having perfect signing pitch also, but because she can hear it when she is off she may be less inclined to sign loudly.

There are a few rare videos of Ale singing Dany's parts during concerts or in their home basement studio (The Warning Cave). This happens mostly when Dany's voice needs a rest or if she is sick. However there are songs where she does fantastic backing vocals you might miss the first few times you hear/watch them due to how perfect they complete the song. They do stand out on their Dakota Bar concert (full performance of their first album XXI Century Blood) and on their various acoustic and stripped down performances.

During The Warning concert mid-September (and most concerts I think) they entire crowd stopped singing along to Choke just to hear Ale sing her piece - everyone just loves it. I seem to notice that if Ale is singing any part that also has Pau sing (just them 2 or with Dany) then Ale sings high, but if it is just her and Dany then Ale sings low. It really is something to have a 2 piece band with all 3 being vocalists.

Unfortunately, it seems like her gifts also have their downsides. One of the most plausible explanations I’ve heard for why Ale doesn’t sing much is that her perfect pitch makes it harder for her to shrug it off if she hits a wrong note. I’ve definitely heard Dany miss a note vocally or on the guitar, but she can often just brazen it through, and her stage presence doesn’t waver a bit. So if you don’t know exactly what to listen for, you wouldn’t know it.

Pau's "standard" mic setup is a headset microphone, which sometimes throws people off. We tend to think of these microphones as a "poor quality", but they don't have to be. Ale tends to be more dynamic in her mic use, although it very definitely depends on the song. Often she blends in so perfectly with her sisters to the point that we don't realize she's even singing.

High cost doesn’t always equate to high quality but in this case it seems to be true.

Ale is stoic in this video, in some discomfort recovering from dental surgery. An example of Dany’s unbelievable vocal range. Pau was concerned for Dany with this song, but Dany was confident she could do it. And she has just gets better, stronger. At the Pepsi Center, you have just caught sight of the ‘unicorn’, Ale’s rare solo moment! Fans flock to Ale’s side of the stage looking for unicorns! An entire arena will go silent for Ale. In case no one else has. Commented yet, the word you’re looking for is Premonition. You may have heard Choke on radio. There was a mash-up version done with Grandson and Zero 9:36 that received some attention, too. S, it is quite possible you have heard the chorus a few times.

The one song for me is so easy "23" sung by Pau - the live versions at the Teatro Metropolitan and as you will eventually see, here at The Pepsi Centre (unfortunately Pau was sick,so left out the final high notes she ended on at the Teatro Metropolitan) - possibly a double reaction to both versions would be worth doing,as they do differ, and they show how great Pau is as a drummer/vocalist. I think now, "Breathe" from the Pepsi Centre will now be a very close second, again as you are reacting to this concert, you're gonna find out why - be prepared to possibly shed a tear or two on that epic performance

When you get to Black Holes, if your starter vid is *_Black Holes - Live @ Dakota Bar_*, there's a (too brief) but incredibly lovely few bars at the end where you can clearly hear Ale singing. It makes me melt but yearn for more, every time. ---- I can't give you one song, that's way too difficult, but Amour, coming up next, is one of the most underrated songs in rock & roll history (not exaggerating, that's what I believe). Should've been a massive world-wide hit (if we lived in any kind of rational world, heehee).

You may have heard the song in a store or something. People post online about hearing The Warning in the wild all the time. I heard them first when I was checking out music in Amazon Musics discovery playlist. Money was the first song that I heard from them so I have a special place in my heart for that one.

From what I can gather in following the Warning for the past few months...
Alejandra is the introvert of the group. She is totally fine with NOT singing lead but her background vocals are vital to the song. She is the metronome of the group and her baselines set the tone for the whole song, whatever the song. She is the youngest of the 3, almost 5 years younger than Danyela.
This may be my second favorite, after Animosity

  • @gerstelb
    @gerstelb 3 дня назад +1

You can always hear Ale’s bass for a couple good reasons. First, they usually don’t have the bass just follow the guitar, and I think that’s a big part of how they often manage to generate a fuller sound than people would expect from a trio. I really noticed this when I paid attention to their re-imagining of “Enter Sandman” (not the viral 2014 video, but the version for the Metallica Blacklist album, and which is in this concert). They reengineered the infamous riff at the beginning so that the notes are actually split between the guitar and the bass.
In addition, though, since (as noted elsewhere) Ale is the one with perfect pitch *and* perfect rhythm (Pau calls her the human metronome) I think The Warning’s songs are particularly engineered so both Dany and Pau can ground themselves with her.

The live also shows how much Pau sings which was way more than I caught on the MV while killing it on the drums. Ale's vocals moment is a favorite for the fans. *Choke*
to me *Choke* is about those times when you are overwhelmed by things in life and you want/need to work through it all by yourself without others trying to help...
"just let me drown" in my troubles... "that vice is overpriced"... i'll get through it my way, don't try to help...

To me the song is about a toxic relationship where the bad guy hurts the person, then reels them back in with tears. "Wear your tears like jewelry: That vice is overpriced" Meaning that your tears no longer have the value they had...it doesn't work, so, rather than dunking me then bringing me back, just let me drown i.e, stop teasing and let me hurt fully so I can move on.
