If I was the head coach I'll trade GP season ends. It's like this it's very likely and doable to find a receiver. But the CULTURE it's HARD to replace. No one no player is bigger than the team and or organization.

I spent 22 years in the U.S Army. I retired June 2015 as a SNCO. I dealt with "Millennials/Gen Z" or whatever you want to call it. First, stop calling him a "Kid" he's a grown man, albeit a young man but he's a man. You can pull him to the side and teach, mentor and coach but you have to see results. If you keep getting the same attitude, lack of dedication, and discipline well he's telling you that he has no respect for you, the team and the organization that he represents. There is a history with GP. One thing I learned as a leader, you can't CHANGE anyone unless they want to change. You can't keep allowing him talk/act out w/o the fear of consequences. You have to maintain order and discipline. It's difficult to lead a large group of men, especially those with "Alpha" mentalities. You have to be firm, fair as possible and consistent with your leadership and no one can be above the rest, it appears that Tomlin is inconsistent in that regard. You cause more problems when you give too much preferential treatment, especially unwarranted. It will develop into resentment amongst the rest of your team/subordinates. As for me, I would have benched GP, I keep hearing the ridiculous narrative of, "you will hurt the team for benching him" No! He's hurting the team with his attitude and his efforts on the field. You send that message, and you require others to step up...The Standard is the Standard right, so play Boykins, Austin, more 11 personnel...no more excuses ✌🏾
First of all, thank you for your service. Second, I agree with you completely and have said it on this podcast. But GP is following the lead of the "leader" of WRs and that's #18. Tomlin has captains on this team and tries to allow them to manage the guys on the team and the locker room. But to me, the "captains" are not doing their due, so Tomlin should have taken the reins and bench 18. That would have been an example to GP, but because all 18 had to do was speak to the team, explaining himself 🙄, saying he would not do it again, there was NO REAL CONSEQUENCE. That's why it was good with GP. He saw 18 do it. Now Tomlin should sit them both. What are we doing? Ain't like we playoff bound. It is still the principle.
@@dpj310 I agree with you as well, 18 has to be an example to GP, doesn't necessarily mean that he has to be a "Vocal Leader" but he can lead by example. Yes you're correct, the Team Captains has to take whatever Standards/Culture Coach T wants established and they have to be strong enough to enforce it and obviously they must not be, judging by GP continued behavior. So, Tomlin has to take things in his own hands, and like I said he should have benched GP, yes he's talented but he hasn't earned the right to do the things he's doing. So when I hear grown men excusing his behavior, saying things like "Well if they would get him the ball he would be alright" so they are essentially saying, act like a child if you don't get your way, or act out when things get tough. No Joker, that's not how it works and life surely doesn't work that way, but I digress it's just my opinion. Thank you by the way, I had a very rewarding career ✌🏾

I would bench Pickens until he wants to start trying again. Tomlin is rewarding George's bad behavior by continuing to let him start and put his teammates in danger. Pickens said he didn't block because "he didn't wanna get injured" but that also means his teammate Jaylen Warren is taking an extra hit and could potentially get injured. That's the definition of selfishness. Pickens is an amazing talent but hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard, and I would rather have a less talented receiver out there who's putting in 100% effort and giving his all than have Pickens, who is selfish and not willing to try his best.
He's trying to win and he's not going to bench him they don't have the receivers to replace George with Alan Robinson and Austin aren't better outside threats than George and we learned what it looks like once the top receiver is not playing when Johnson was out
@@Smitty753 I'd rather have some guy off the practice squad play if he's trying 100% and giving his best effort. Pickens is a liability to the team when he's barely trying. Pickens literally got mossed last game, he's not a good deep threat when he's not giving any effort and he's a terrible run blocker now. The team would play better if they have a guy they can trust, and that guy currently is not George.

Can’t believe steeler fans be flip floppin more than a flip flop. Y’all was hype seeing him in that Goon mask on draft day. Y’all was hype seeing him block defenders last year. Y’all was hype seeing him make plays downfield. Keep that same energy, it’s a growth process, they not robots.
