    Reflections and noise are so low resolution that everything looks wet and moving, not really good-looking.
    I was hoping RT would clean those screen-space ambient occlusion issues, but it doesn't.
    Guess turning RT off and increasing other details will be a better visual upgrade.

    RT does not make a huge difference in that game and in my opinion the floor often looks too reflective or the lights are not stable and start to flicker. Not worth the performance drop.

    I got tired of the mirrors showing what the camera showed (the back of my characters head) instead of an actual reflection in a mirror so I turned RT on and it fixed the broken mirror reflection. (Although a mirror where you see the back of your head would be useful in reality and could be explained away in game as **it's magic** I prefer seeing reflections work properly)

      lmao you ever go get an eye doctor dude? There's so many details missing without raytracing it's insane. you must also be one of those who can't afford a 120 hz TV to take advantage of taking off fps cap and playing at fidelity and raytracing to get HIGH fps. I'm getting 50+ with mine

    I wish Balanced was somehow able to include RT. I can tolerate 40 fps, but after going 120 I can't go back to 30.

    if you've been to WB studio and seen the main hall bit where (candles are floating above tables) it is nowhere near as shiny as Raytracing mode shows. RXT off seems to be more accurate. It is like they're popping this eyecandy just because....

    Hopefully now that the 7.0 version of PS5 supports 1440p VRR this game will roll out support for 1440p VRR Raytraced mode.

    From the looks of it. The game is not using full raytraceing and only uses pathtraced reflections.

    Thx for the video man, for me rtx off looks way better. The game's shadows and reflections "baked" by the devs looks better and more in line with the art style of the game than the rather poor implementation than rtx has.

      1/ it isn't "rtx", that's a brand. It is ray tracing, which is the technology.
      2/ Nothing is "baked" in this game, it uses probe based shadows and reflections. The ps5 doesn't have RT shadows, it uses RTAO and enhanced SSR with a single ray per pixel RT pass.

    I notice the reflections kind of popping in when entering rooms on PS5...so I turned it off. Also it doesn't feel all that great with it on.

    I think fidelity looks better. RT just makes things more colorful because of the lighting but the resolution and draw distance takes a hit. Faces look more low res.

    My game does not allow me to turn on RT. I'm going in the main menu, switching to fidelity with raytracing the game reloads and then a massage pops up and says The games performance mode has been reset to a default selection.

      You can fix it by going to settings - Saved Data and Game/App settings - Game presets - and where it says Performance or Resolution mode set it to Game Default. I wouldn’t recommend the ray tracing mode for this game tho as it’s honestly not that impressive imo.

      Yea I’ll take real shadows over extreme reflections anyway although I wish they could implament a performance RTX mode like Spiderman did.

      @@DivineKnight_115 "Real" shadows in a digital game? All these people saying how daft the reflections look have never seen properly cleaned stone. Its literally one of the most reflective surfaces there is.
      Also "rtx" is a brand not a technology. Ray Tracing is the technology, and the reason not every game does a performance rt mode is simple - the ps5 is underpowered, especially with ray tracing. Look at the clearly 1/8th resolution reflections and understand this mode runs at 1080p natively. The gpu in the ps5 is essentially below a 2060 for ray tracing. Also on the CPU side, this game is pretty heavy and rt adds CPU costs as well.Would you rather have a castle that feels alive with lots of people, or the hugely pared back crowds of Spidermans performance rt mode?
      This is why console gamers shouldnt discuss tech

    Ray tracing doing here not much but CONTRAST is a problem in this game, I think is the same HDR ISSUE what in Calisto Protocol, game looks like washed out despite have great graphics...

      Then you're not adjusting the display settings correctly, lower the hdr brightness till you have a balanced look, although the visual style of the game is indeed a hazy/foggy look, but hdr worked fine with me, especially the beginning where you learn lumos and everything is dark, my screen went all black with only the little traces of light being lit

    how many fps does playstation 5 have with ray tracing? im on 4070 TI and strugle with ultra graphics and ultra ray tracing settings -.- i gues i have to down tune ray tracing a bit. pc seems bad optimized xD

    I wish RT was easier to enable. I’d only use it for screenshots. But you have to reboot the game to apply it. Balanced with uncapped frame rate is the best option. I’m getting 55-60 majority of the time with some dips down to 42. But even performance mode takes 10+ fps hits when sprinting or flying.

      Unstable FPS is the worst.
      If its capped at 30 or 40, you will eventually get used to it. But you will never get used to frame drops when you are in the middle of a fight (wich is where it usually happens). Even if the drop is above the cappped 40, the fact that it drop is extremelly noticeble

    So only reflections. Lighting and shadows difference is zero. A shame, since such a fantasy game would profit more from RT global illumination and shadows and ambient occlusion. A bit better mopped floor and those mirrors in the game showing better reflections isn't really that of a great addition. Especially when taking that fps hit.

      The fidelity mode has a higher resolution than the fidelity with RT. That is why the images look sharper.

      @@agamer2680 I wouldn't recommend that because the graphics will look awful with low resolution. I would suggest you to play in fidelity which actually renders 4k suited for 4k displays.

    There's no reason at all for that floor at the castle to not reflect the way it does without some trickery and no RT... Hitman 3 does this for example, no RT.

    RT a majority of the time is not even noticed or minor when compared to it when OFF. Personally I prefer the sharper graphic detail of Fediility- 30(+ uncapped) is smooth and fine for a game like this. Found balance has more poo-in and notice some detail softened.

      Yes it does. It also comes with Low Graphik settings. There are also the 60fps/Low graphics and the 30fps/high graphics without rt modes

    Tried it myself on PS5, performance mode is a no brainer for this game. the detail loss is minimal, stuff you don't notice unless you compare side by side but you go from 25 choppy fps to a quite stable 60. and you will need the extra performance if you play normal or above dificulty, dodge and protego have tight timings.

    They both look almost identical to me unless it’s my eyes. I am getting old lol. But RT off so just fidelity mode. Looks to pop more. Again might be my eyes but it looks brighter to me. The issue I’ve been having is that foggy mist look when outside castle in some parts. Colours not being vibrant enough and popping they look washed out. I’ve tried performance. Fidelity. F with Ray tracing. And changing my tv settings. I’m on the PS5 and playing on a 4K ultra HD phillips Ambilight TV. Not sure where I am going wrong

      Im having the same issue however if you pay attention its not always like that. I think its their weather / season system.
      Maybe when the season changes at the game as the story progresses this mist will be gone.
      It always hit me when im at Hogsmeade.

      In this game RT was clearly an afterthought. The RTAO is hard to see and RT reflections are so low resolution. However, RT is not useless in every game. RT actually looks fantastic in Control, Cyberpunk and other titles when implemented properly

    i think having better fps is more important that the slight increase in graphics 😅 the game looks great either way

      @@ammanus356 lmao that underpowered “piece of crap” runs every game with great performance settings while cutting the costs by almost triple. Have fun upgrading GPU’s every 2 years for 2 grand for your slight raytracing advantage. 😅

      @@tookool4skool98 Ps5 runs most games around medium as DF and NXGamer have shown, and has not got a single game with locked 60fps, and the 120hz games are usually 80-100.
      Meanwhile an RTX 2060, the weakest rtx gpu, when using the same settings at the same resolutions (usually 1080p in performance mode using FSR2.0 and then reconstructing to a higher resolution STILL using dynamic rez) utilizing DLSS on quality always outperforms the ps5 and can be found for 180 quid
      Meanwhile the rtx 2080ti - 4 years old now - offers around double the performance, 4x the RT performance, and true native 4k instead of using FSR and reconstruction
      My 4090 is LITERALLY 12x faster than the ps5. Using the PS5s settings in Cyberpunk, i get 200fps at 1440p. At 4k maxed out i get 144fps.
      In control using the rt reflections and transparencies and the low preset at 1440p - the ps5 settings and even then the ps5 has custom rt lower than on pc - i get 250fps.
      Dont talk about things you havent tested yourself. I do not need to update every 2 years. You have never had to do that to beat consoles. When the 360 came out, the 8800gtx came out which DESTROYED it 4x over. Ps4 was beaten by the 750ti, and could be beaten even now by a 780. Ps5 will be beaten in 5 years by the 2080.

      Not always, and most of the time reflections add a nice touch to the overall. Look GTA 5 with ray tracing on after the last update, or Miles Morales and many other.

      No they are not joke. They are very much capable of rendering good RT. Its the developers who are not using the full capability of these consoles. May be once they move on to UE5 the true power of these consoles can be realised. I believe it is the game engine that is holding back the new consoles.

      @@xpointer483 i don’t think so, consoles use an AMD system, equipped with an RDNA 2 custom GPU, those GPU are good in raster, but very weak on RT, there is no magical optimisation or graphic engine that can be used, they just need an hardware upgrade (ps5 pro maybe?)to be able to do a proper RT without lowering other graphical settings and Internal resolution to 1080p or stick with 30 fps.

    Insomniac managed to do great RT in an entire city with glass skyscrapers everywhere and still have good FPS. So why can't these other devs do even basic, hardly noticeable, RT without capping at 30?
