Projectors for Sewing Facebook group is the true revolutionary movement! I found this group, got curious about it, and joined. Best decision ever, group members as well as administrators were super supportive and helpful throughout my set up process. Considering myself as not a technology kind of person, I figured out the calibration process is not that difficult. In fact, I felt so proud of my self when I finished my set up and started cutting and sewing not to mention the accomplishment feeling when I succeeded. These videos are amazingly helpful. Thank you so much for them

Yes, there are plenty of people in the Facebook group that use it for bag sewing. Quilters also use it to trace quilt designs on their quilt top before beginning quilting. You can use them for apliqué-both cutting it out and figuring out placement. And for placement for vinyl cutouts. So many uses!

Hi! I went to the NYC launch and asked a lot of questions and saw some demos. The thing that I liked the most was the unit set up and calibration. I don't love the proprietary cloud based software. Some of the demos where slow and got hung up because the wifi was not awesome at all times during the launch. That said, you definitely can rotate pattern pieces and open them to cut as a single ply (not on fold). The dot stickers are so that you can align the piece when cutting larger ones that will necessitate shifting the fabric on your mat.

    • @DaileySewsStuff
      @DaileySewsStuff  Год назад

Yes, I had suspected the dots were for fabric shifting. We’ve done that for awhile and it really helps for giant pieces! I still have not seen that you can cut on the flat, almost all pieces are on the fold and there’s no easy unfolding but you can duplicate pieces and flip them or maybe just flip them and make it work. Personally, I’d rather cut on the fold but it’s a big debate in the projector world (like pressing seams open vs pressing to the side in quilting!) and many adamantly prefer cutting on the flat.

Will have to wait and see how this product will work in real life. I think it is an insult and quite short sighted of them to not include some of the amazing people in the projectors for sewing group who have learned the hard way all the different setups etc and found solutions. I don’t think there can be a 1 size fits all solution as I have setup my projector at home and have also setup the same projector in our community hall and both need very different solutions. I just hope that the people who buy the solution do have a very positive outcome as I’m worried that if there are issues, it may prevent so many sewists from joining us and seeing what I think is one of the best tools in my sewing room. Hi, thanks for your video. I am one of those who doesn’t have the time/ability/ desire to explore all the different options available. I started sewing in different circumstances when I had more time & it was my life. Now it’s a hobby and I don’t have time to mess with paper patterns anymore. I am definitely Dittos target lol. Yes, I have MANY patterns I’ve purchased I won’t be able to use but I wasn’t going to use them anyway because I don’t have the time to print, trace, cut the pattern in the first place. At this point I just want to use my fabric. Plus my executive functioning ability is low and my health has & continues to decline rapidly.

@Dailey Sews & Stuff I did show off my projector in my local sewing group, and two ladies said that they wanted to try it out, but the uncertainty which one to get and some videos showing people struggling with the calibration are putting them off from trying. And for me, it wasn't really that hard. Yes, currently I have a small place and a smallish mat, and I'm sewing, usually baby and kid's stuff, but the whole setting up and being good enough in my eyes was around 10 minutes. For that time, I would've just taped together the A4 patterns..also after the sewing, I need to put away the pattern. I agree with a lot of your points and I will say I have a ditto and have a lot of frustrations. However, I tried other projectors and with my room set up I didn’t have great experience with calibration. Ditto big seller for me was the ease of set up and calibration. It stops there other than that owning a ditto is a love hate relationship. I really hope they realize they are chasing the wrong profit model. I despise their men’s wear designs absolutely hideous. I am very happy they now have BYOP and I now use a lot of the programs you speak of. Their adjustments in their patterns are meh kind of gimmicky but women seem to report it works well. I haven’t used their pattern to make anything since first getting it because I dislike them so much but since BYOP saved me from selling it. With that said I know of the right way to go about this and the first person to do it will destroy the ditto. I have had my Ditto in my hands since Feb 10. Doesn't work yet, as the app doesn't go live until Mar 1. I work for a Viking/Pfaff dealer which are part of SVP (Singer, Viking, Pfaff). So we got the units first. We went for training, so am pretty familiar with the do's and don'ts. It is very easy to set up. You are correct in that at this point in time, it will only project the patterns in their app. I was told by one of the programmers that they are developing designer software to create patterns/alter patterns. For example, one of my questions to the programmer was, will I be able do a full bust adjustment in the software? He said yes, but the software won't be out until the end of the year. To answer your questions about the stickers in the box, they are to use when the pattern piece is too large for the projector area, so you can line up the rest of pattern piece. There are alignment marks on the pattern piece to place the stickers so the 2nd piece of the pattern lines up. You can also print .pdf's of your patterns, so that would allow you to permanently save your patterns. I look forward to the day, we can use it to project all our pdf patterns, because if they do that, I think they will really command the market. Another thing about their mat, yes you have to use it to calibrate the camera, but you can use any mat after that to cut your fabric on. Very interested in learning more about other projectors also.

A lot of that info has slowly trickled down from them to us since I made this video (the linked blog post has more info because it’s easy to add to a blog post vs a video).
      1) They’ve said their calibration program accounts for an unlevel surface but not for one that’s not flat and that there’s no ability to manually adjust so it sounds like it will be very easy to use…until it isn’t.
      2) What we’ve heard from them is they plan to remain proprietary and they will add designers to their website and add a program that allows you to mix and match elements of patterns from their library but do not plan to open it wide for people to upload their own patterns made from scratch.
      3) They’ve said FBAs will be coming when they add an upperbust measurement at some point in the future. That seems like a massive oversight to me and a nebulous answer.
      4) Yes, my guess about the stickers was correct (I think it was cut from the final video) that the stickers are for use fabric shifting. We know well how that works, we’ve been doing it for years! I have a video from about 2 years ago about how I do it and even suggest stickers may be useful in that video.
      5) We have heard very conflicting and confusing answers from Ditto about the ability to print patterns. I’m curious how it will play out in the end.
      6) Again, my impression is they don’t ever plan to allow us to project all our patterns and don’t intend to include the ability to read pdf patterns. The intention is remain proprietary. We do, however, have the ability to project all our pdf patterns right now with a DIY set up!
      7) They have said you don’t have to use their mat for cutting. And that sounds like a good thing. You can pull it out to calibrate and then put it away safe until the next time because there’s no word about replacements if needed and if it’s ever not flat anymore, it sounds like it won’t be possible to calibrate. And you’re still locked into the 24x36 size, which is a perfectly acceptable size, just limiting that you won’t ever be able to have a bigger size projection.
There are tons of resources out there for how we use projectors for sewing! The best place to learn is the Projectors for Sewing Facebook group where this revolution began!

Beau discours mais il aurait été beaucoup mieux de présenter l'appareil et montrer son fonctionnement

If you mean the Ditto, if you’d like to gift me the $800 to purchase it, I’d be happy to do that.
If you mean the DIY set ups, I have lots of videos on this channel setting up each type, using them to project patterns, etc. The one that best shows how it’s done is probably the one called Lefty-Newbie

Again, if someone wants to gift me the $800 for Ditto, I’ll be happy to review it. I sent them an email and they never responded and I cannot afford to buy it myself. Lots of videos on my channel cover the DIY set up if you’d like to see how that works!

Your information is quite thorough in your video. However, the constant waving of your hand is extremely distracting.

This video has very little visual information, so you can absolutely listen to it as a podcast rather than watch if you find me taking with my hands distracting.

Great descripción of the product. Thank You. I think that is a rip off.

I’m not sure I’d go so far as rip off. I do think it’s a legitimate product that will work well in limited situations. I just don’t think it’s the best choice for most people.

I think that the price is horrible. Well in one year it Will be probably half.
