WayMaker Fabrics
@waymaker_fabrics sent this for me to sew as a strike and the round is now open for anyone to purchase! They also have a major sale going on for the other available fabrics.
@apostrophe.patterns came in clutch for the patterns with no adjustments needed but, of course, I used @affinitybyserif to perfect my pattern before #patternprojecting.
If you want to learn to take your #projectorsewing to the next level like this, DM me your email address to be the first to find out when my course over using Affinity Designer to improve your pattern projecting is ready!

Project & Cut vs Pattern Projector: Which one should you use?

    While I have a Mac, I do everything from my iPad Pro. I started on this journey due to wanting to design clothing in bed at night. That lead me down a rabbit hole that ended with projectors. I purchased an Epson ultras short throw and calibrated on the pattern projector. It has everything I’ll need and some more due to the portability of my iPad Pro..

    Hi, how do you use PDF Stitcher to change a pdf Letter pattern into a printing size equivalent or about the same as a A0 size to send to a printing company that prints it for you similar to how patterns come in a physical envelope?

      I don’t think I addressed this much in this video, since I was focusing on the new features, but I do have a previous video that shows that function. Basically, you use the middle tab called “Tile” to input the information for it to put your puzzle together!

    • @DaileySewsStuff

      That’s one option! Mini projectors can go on the ceiling or on something portable like a tripod. Ultra Short Throws can sit on the surface you’re cutting on. Short throws can be ceiling or wall mounted. Lots of options!

    Great overview of both and very exciting to be able to try these as a new to projector sewist. Quick question - is there a recommended cutting mat size for calibrating? I have large 34 x 46 inch and smaller 22x 34 inch. I was finding it difficult to calibrate on the large mat - (using pattern projector from my laptop next to the projector). Will be trying Project and Cut today. Thankyou so much for the wisdom and knowledge you share on this channel.

    • @DaileySewsStuff
      @DaileySewsStuff 4 месяца назад

      I will always recommend calibrating to at least a 16x24” box and the bigger your box, the better your accuracy. That said, your smaller mat is definitely big enough to calibrate to!

    • @leannekenna

      @@DaileySewsStuff thankyou... I ended up going for 41 x 25 inch on the bigger mat. Moving the image, flip and rotate is also brilliant. Very excited by this. I used Project and Cut for today's project, PE Urban pants and Lounge Dress (projector files). You couldn’t use a pattern for this example that you didn’t need to blur? 🙄

    • @DaileySewsStuff
      @DaileySewsStuff 4 месяца назад

      When k recorded it, that’s the pattern I was working on. That’s how I usually make these videos-with real life things I’m working on so the information you get is based on how things are actually used. The pattern ended up taking much longer than I expected or is usual for a pattern on testing to be released so I had to blur most of it. I actually waited a few extra days in editing, hoping it would be released so I didn’t have to blur it. I left the straight line at the top so you could see it was a straight line. But, honestly, the image of the pattern at the end isn’t really necessary to understand the software. Yes, a properly calibrated pattern is the point of any calibration, but the point is how quickly and easily this calibrates, not that it is calibrated. I also showed that with calibration grid being projected.

    I noticed that with the last example with the ellie and Mac pattern you did trim instead of overlap but under the layout diagram it says that the pages are trimless. Does that effect the way the pattern looks when you stitch it together?

    • @DaileySewsStuff
      @DaileySewsStuff 5 месяцев назад

      Not really. I usually trim because if you overlap, you get two lines right on top of each other (but not always *perfectly* on top of each other) but you could choose overlap instead. I haven’t come across any patterns where it mattered if you chose trim vs overlap, but the options is there if you do come across it.

    It's a bit hard to follow the concept when you have blurred out the image of the pattern. Don't quite understand the reasoning behind it. If the purpose of this demo is a preview, I would imagine having it projected as in real life would be the most effective way to help the community understand how this is suppose to work. We can't even see the final outcome for the advantages of this software.

    Thanks for the preview! I think this is helpful for those who’ve already tried projector sewing. For those sewists who are still trying to decide if projector sewing is for them, this preview might be confusing. People who haven’t taken the plunge yet won’t understand the problems caused by not having a completely flat cutting/ projecting surface. They won’t understand how difficult it can be to position the projector just the right way. I think this software will remove the major negatives about using a projector for those who aren’t great at tech ( me!). This software makes me wish I’d put off projector sewing until this software was available. But- I guess if I’d waited, I wouldn’t understand how awesome this software actually is! I plan on buying it when it’s available for purchase.

      I think a series would be great- geared to those new to projector sewing and as slow paced as possible so those who aren’t tech savvy ( That’s me! 😂) will understand. I’d also appreciate a series that’s slow paced, geared to the low tech audience- on both Inkscape and affinity designer. Clinton’s video to introduce project and cut was on my level- basic! I’m not putting myself or anyone else down who needs to be taught at that level. It’s just not the world I function in. I’m a Home Care nurse, not a computer whiz. Sewing is a hobby for me. I’m very proud of myself that I did manage to calibrate my UST after a lot of reading the guides in the Facebook group and finally figuring out how to get my table level. 💪🏻🏆❤️.
