I'm proud to say that I was born in and raised in Wales in my home town Holyhead. I'm married an English man and left to live in Birmingham. However, you can take the girl out of Wales but you cannot take Wales from inside. I love Wales and my Welsh people. God bless Wales.
Patricia, I've never been in Wales, but I think it is a magical country. I love your accent when speaking English, but most of all, I love your indigenous language. I'm from South Africa, where we sort of have English as 'lingua franca' - but we have 10 other languages. Please watch Dr Wilhelm Lichtenberg, a heart surgeon from Cape Town, South AFrica, sing your beautiful national anthem before the third rugby test between Wales and South Africa. He even took elocution lessons from a Welsh guy to get his pronunciation right. (But, although I adore the Welsh and your language, I'm thrilled that we won... :))
My father is Welsh, and one of the very few times I've seen him cry is when he visited Wales a few years back. Not just for the beauty of the land, but, sadly, because he saw for the first time in his life the Welsh language proudly displayed in public... with English merely a postscript for us poor foreigners. God Created the world in six days, and on the Seventh, He made Wales!
As a Scotsman it almost pains me to say it but Im going to anways, This is by far the Best National Anthem ever! Ok, Flower Of Scotland is great, but this is just so emotional.
This sounds best when sung at the Millenium Stadium with the roof closed and the opposition are the English Rugby Team! Forget the Maori Haka, this is far more intimidating!
English translation: The old land of my fathers is dear to me, Land of bards and singers, famous men of renown; Her brave warriors, very splendid patriots, For freedom shed their blood. Do you know about the WELSH NOT that some children were forced to wear at school. This did not succeed in destroying Yr hen wlad fy nhadau. Google it.
My father spent some time in Wales and absolutely loved it, and missed it so much when he returned home that this song (amongst a few) would flood our house whenever he was stressed. He had nothing but good things to say about Wales and its people. Such soulful melody. Perhaps I should visit it myself someday...
This is so wonderful, inspiring and truly amazing. My grandmother is from Wrecsam and was an immigrant to the Great State of Texas, and I am equally proud of my Welsh roots and heritage. Texas and Wales Rock!
i am not going argue with anyone comments but i will say this i was england, have lived in scotland all my life i have a grandmother who was welsh and a grand mother who was irish, i learned welsh just to sing this anthem. i am not english, scottish, welsh or irish i am british and those of you who want to be negative about this comment then go a head i love my country that country is Great Britian and i love every nation that makes her up
@owainmeurig ...no lie :( this was in the Glannau Dyfrdwy area. suppose its no surpries.. .fascinating though off topic to read recently welsh was spoke upto 1750 in western areas of shropshire cheshire, herefordshire and gloucestershire
As a new resident of Newport I’m supposed to sing the National anthem of Wales. However I neither speak nor read welsh language. How can I learn to be able to sing the anthem?
I love wales, I love my national anthem but I do not like this version, the guy clearly isn't singing it with the conviction needed and is also out of tune and the muisic wasn't helping either, the women were perfect. No offence to anyone else who is welsh and I'm not going against the song purely against the muisic, it's the equivilent to a rap version of god save the queen
The best national anthem in the United Kingdom. As a very proud Britain, this really does touch the soul and fill you with pride, passion and belief. No wonder the Welsh national Rugby team are so good, with 70,000+ proud Welsh singing this absolutely beautiful anthem, it would make the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end with pride. I'm English and live in envy!
Wel, Sais ydw i, ac dw i'n byw yn Hwngri rwan, ond dw'n hoff iawn o'r celtaidd hefyd! Mae'r anthem hwn yn well o lawer na'r un saisneg! (Ond dydy'r un hwngareg yn ddrwg chwaith!) Bendigedig!! (Nagyon szép)
SImply beautiful! This anthem gives me goosebumps and I'm South African. Please listen to the way Dr Wilhelm Lichtenberg (a heart surgeon from South Africa) sung this beautiful anthem before the third rugby test between Wales and the Springboks. He even took elocution lessons from a local Welshman to get it perfect. I'm proud of the Welsh keeping their language intact. My mother tongue is Afrikaans, a language derived from (inter alia) Dutch, German, and many "borrowed" words via the slaves brought here by the Dutch East India Company. And, of course, many words borrowed from our black brothers and sisters. We have to keep all languages alive!!
I´m writing from Asturias (Spain), another celtic land. While i was watching this wonderful video an d listening the Welsh Anthem i felt deep inside something marvelous, and had a dream... Maybe, one day we can see the union of all the celtic lands
My Grandfather Rees was a 1st generation Welch immigrant - this song makes me cry (even though I don't know the language and he is long gone!). Thanks for sharing. Carol (I meant Welsh)
2014 Alba....After, maybe.... Cymru, Kornew, Breizh, Eire, Ellan Vannin, Galiza, Asturies... Maybe they will be free... Maybe the Celts rises again... Greetings from Asturies (Spain)..
yup, i almost flagged it as inappropriate! it's the best sound in the world when a male choir sings it in my opinion and as for the scenery you're bang on right but i've been living in the shetland islands for quite a few years now and the coastline here has to be seen to be believed in places, try googling eshaness or just shetland. it's beautiful in all weather. CYMRU AM BYTH!
My only shame as a welshman is i cant sing, Living in the usa trying to teach my son what it means to be Welsh and there is no word in the english lanuage...However we have a word " hiraeth" I miss Wales..
I know Pontypridd. I like the place very much. I live in West Wales though. This father and son who wrote the song.....they were poor weavers if I am correct. Weren't they? I read Gwyn Alf's book 'When was Wales?' He speaks of 'The Gwerin'....ie Cultured working class. Undoubtedly, these two were members of that group. I am proud too. :-)
This is a Welsh and a Celtic Anthem not a British one typical English tryin to claim it under the British banner......Ur rite tho they are a proud nation and our friends in Ireland!!!!! Hope ye do a job on saturday against the English lads!!!! from a Celtic cousin in Ireland.....long live Wales!!!!
i'm welsh and like every other true welman and woman on the planet, i love my country and it's anthem but this version wasn't fit for recording. i lasted up until 1:20 before i paused it. it's almost like the guys hiding from the song.
You are splitting hairs! The Welsh and the Scots in reality don't have a say. They both together can't win the numbers game, the english always have the majority, hence the last word.
@paulmac38 just because theyre not pure celtic doesnt mean theyre not celtic.... and at the end of the day both the UK, Australia and America are widely known for its mixed populations
It's funny so hear the choir to sing it in time and the lead singer trying to jazz it up a little, Which is very unsettling. Then when the female singer came on, then it was perfect.
i am scottish, but to all my Celtic brothers and sisters, they the english may have takiing from us in the past, but they will never own our spirit, souls or freedom,
@fish5133 well he better start learning welsh if hes to be a respected...........ppl from across the border preaching has never feared too well.................this is why we had a revival.....a non conformist revivial with no interference by english church doctrine
we accept you :) i also have a English partner who we call adopted welsh and i love him more than words that's what happens when people move here they fall in love with the country :)
@paulmac38 But they are certainly more Welsh than mediterranean, we welsh have always had darker skin than the rest of britain, but there are some who had ancestors from the Silure in 50BC tribe which was half Welsh, half Iberian, which Iberian is half celt half spanish.
We have welsh in our ancestry and looking it up, on here, and on google, it seems like an amazing culture!! Makes me proud to be as little as I am make me proud to be welsh though!!
Oh damn mun, I'm as tearful as anyone, and as proud. Grand Slam champions! What a performance from the boys! What a defence! What an attack! Cymru Am Byth!!!
THE best anthem in the world. At least it's about your country and not "praising" the Saxe-Coburg-Gotha/Schleswig-Holstein-Sondeburg-Glucksberg over-paid whankers in Buck House. But, some of us English can look beyond those politically- correct new arrivals.
I'm an Englishman and have absolutely no qualms about admitting that Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau blows most other national anthems out of the water, including God Save The King (by a large margin). All power to the Welsh, long may they remain proud of their nation's history, culture, and language.
I'm proud to say that I was born in and raised in Wales in my home town Holyhead. I'm married an English man and left to live in Birmingham. However, you can take the girl out of Wales but you cannot take Wales from inside. I love Wales and my Welsh people. God bless Wales.

Yes he did. Thanks 😊
fantastic , i'm Scottish and love this song . Its like a team getting a goal of a start . BE PROUD ,SAOR ALBA.
Welsh songs and language appeal to the soul, because the people have a history of prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ.
As a Scotsman it almost pains me to say it but Im going to anways, This is by far the Best National Anthem ever!
Ok, Flower Of Scotland is great, but this is just so emotional.
Shivers down my spine, every time I hear this.

HayabusaSenToTai, which country are you from?
And what brought your father to Wales ?
You can ask me where I’m from, and I will tell you 🙂
This is so wonderful, inspiring and truly amazing. My grandmother is from Wrecsam and was an immigrant to the Great State of Texas, and I am equally proud of my Welsh roots and heritage. Texas and Wales Rock!
The greatest anthem in the world for the greatest little nation in the world so proud to be Welsh.
im crying like a baby, thinking of my dad, CYMRU AM BYTH
so so so proud to be welsh
Even Colin Kaepernick would have to stand when this is sung!
He probably would since the welsh have never shot and killed any unarmed black americans.
i am not going argue with anyone comments but i will say this i was england, have lived in scotland all my life i have a grandmother who was welsh and a grand mother who was irish, i learned welsh just to sing this anthem. i am not english, scottish, welsh or irish i am british and those of you who want to be negative about this comment then go a head i love my country that country is Great Britian and i love every nation that makes her up

Wonderful! truly wonderful! There is something very special about the anthems of the 3 celtic nations.
SImply beautiful! This anthem gives me goosebumps and I'm South African. A pro self rule song, initially not welcome by the establishment in Wales...for being 'too welsh'...they got beaten in the end ;)
yup, i almost flagged it as inappropriate!

*Yawn* Welcome to the 12st century mate. Get the chip off of your shoulder.
Where was this recorded?
Well, technically anything that wasn't Roman was considered barbarian, so that would include Welsh.
A great rendition of a great song!
what's the name of the woman in blue, i recognise her but can't put my finger on it
