Made this tonight. Big hit with the family. I cut down on the maple syrup to 1/2 of what is called for and increased the soy sauce by a third. The key to this recipe is 1) remove the chicken so it gets up closer to room temp before cooking. 2) get the pan HOT before adding chicken so you get that browning. I added the garlic a little early. Came out amazing. Thanks for this recipe. Mike

Just a cook passing by, butter all burned so use high smoking point cooking oil and add the butter later for flavor and you need to heat your pan higher to get a better sear on your chicken. The flour is used to help chicken brown and if you aren't searing the chicken there is no point of covering it with the flour I hope you don't take my comment offensively I just want people to eat and cook better :D

Really good advice. I would also change a few things:
      1. dip the chicken in an egg wash so the flour sticks better (also, season the flour with some paprika/garlic/onion powder, salt, pepper)
      2. cook the chicken and sauce separately, then drizzle/toss a generous amount of sauce on top of the fried chicken when ready to serve so it's more crispy and less homogenous for a more interesting eating experience.
      3. maybe fry up a few garlic chips to chop up and sprinkle on top of the chicken if you wanna get fancy.
Yummy looking dish overall. Happy cooking!

I made this today for my mum and me, utterly amazing!! Goes well with fries or a side of rice!!
EDIT: ADDED MY OWN TWIST AND PHOTO
a hint for you all, soak in hot water and dish soap before washing, THIS STUFF STICKS!
My stove is gas, I used medium heat and medium/low for the sauce. I also used extra honey and less garlic, for those wondering! I also poured the sauce over the rice and chicken :3 It was amazing, way better with the leftover sauce added!!
(I used about 1 garlic clove, more honey, and about a table spoon of soy sauce. The rice was regular white, I also over cooked the chicken JUST A BIT, and it practically fell apart, but the flower left is SUPER crunchy! I didnt use any chives, they were out of stock.
I used more butter than needed for the sauce, because i was having rice with mine.
recipe is as follows, cut chicken tops into scoured square shape,
Add butter to frying pan, heat medium, dont burn
    put chicken into plain flower,
add to pan, cook one side for around 4mins depending on size,
flip to cook the other side etc,
make a hole in centre of the pan
make the sauce, garlic first, i used 1 clove.
    i added the honey last,
cook on medium/high till it becomes sticky and bubbling
stir on occasion to make sure its welding together well.
flip chicken half way through simmering the sauce.
serve over rice, and pour sauce onto chicken over a rice bed.
    I hope this helps ;w; imgur.com/gallery/mQ9kr8K

My Filipino friend taught me the secret to marinating chicken and that’s simply marinating it in soy sauce. Sure you can add things to it also, I add fresh ground Szechuan and red pepper flakes, garlic powder and a little chili oil. Marinate that for a couple hours and you have some of the best chicken ever, grilled, air fried, fried on the pan, whatever!

    • @michaelsnake8
      @michaelsnake8 2 года назад +2

Mayo also makes a great marinade for another alternative, and helps the spices stick to the chicken and gives a great char 👌

Statement: Soy sauce and others like it such as Worcestershire are excellent for marinating with. The high salt content helps the meat to retain moisture, while the acidic elements are what serve to help tenderize the meat also.
Other things that are acidic can also make for an excellent marinade, such as orange juice with sesame oil if you want an asian flavor or with olive oil if you prefer to use other things like honey or maple syrup.
The key things to have are an acidic element and an oil of some type usually helps.
Pretty much any wine serves as an excellent marinade base also, I have a number that I use with red wines for red meat and whites for poultry.

@@hk-4714 Yes great info! I'll share my steak marinade, please try it our family practically begs me to make steaks for them when they visit. Marinate in 1/4 part balsamic vinegar, worcestershire sauce, soy sauce and olive oil. Add two teaspoons of dijon mustard (or mustard of your choice, yellow is fine). Two teaspoons of fresh minced garlic (or powdered) and one pinch of salt and pepper to your liking. This has been my steak marinade for years now after 20+ years of grilling. The ingredients don't even need to be exact, you can eyeball them depending on the amount of meat you're preparing.

"Something to make you smile" Today I picked up my son from school, 7 years old and he talked the whole 20 minutes, just talk, talk, talk...and I wanted him to stop, I really did because I do not think he took a breath. But then I thought, imagine if he didn't ever share his thoughts with me, all of his dreams and ideas...and it was such a comforting feeling...no joking, it made me happy to be his dad that he does talk to me

Thats one of my regrets in life tbh. My dad only spoke turkish (we live in germany), but since going to preschool I started „unlearning“ the turkish language (I still understand it but I cannot really speak it anymore without mistakes). I was never really able to speak to my father and convey everything I wanted to say in a manner that he understood. Now that hes gone, I‘m thinking about it more and more and really regret not speaking turkish. Would love to speak to my dad about complex stuff and not just usual talk. Well now I won‘t be able to ever talk to him again in this world. :(

I just cooked this tonight for all of my friends and it was a hit! I had some extra large chicken breast so scoring it helped it cook all the way through. Also, a nice touch with the Apple Cider vinegar. It helped tenderize the chicken.

Something that made me laugh today was my puppy being completely weirded out by the snowmen my kids made last night. Took him out for potty and he wouldn't take his eyes off these very suspicious looking characters, looking behind his back as he walked away. Hilarious, I laugh every time it pops back in my head🤣
Recipe looks delicious, I will have to try it😋

Thank you for the wonderful recipe. I massage in the salt and pepper nicely and I also use high-quality balsamic vinegar instead of apple cider vinegar.
I increased the proportion of soy sauce and vinegar to 2 tablespoons each.
Really a great recipe and tastes incredibly delicious.
My favorite ingredient, garlic, is also plentiful.
