Bachelors and Masters in Geography/GIS here. After 8 years of climbing the corporate ladder, I found triathlon and was able to put my swimming talents to work (fun) on the side. I switched to work a govt. job to keep the hours down to 40 a week and still have benefits. Never had enough time to go pro, but you are 100% on the right path - the outdoors endurance sports life is truly living. Work to live. You'll never regret it. SUBSCRIBED!
Though not a runner I really enjoy running rants, applying methodology and ideology to fitness I enjoy; the happiest and fittest time of my life was a year ago @59 when focused on nothing but training and eating when not involved in my 100hr/week job. Keep doing what you do💪🏽
Thanks for watching! It was pretty warm that day, I think in the 40s. If it’s above freezing I’m normally in shorts, my legs get pretty warm when I run! It also feels way warmer when the sun is out!
i did my degree in pure maths and then worked as a software engineer ever since. payment is good. i'm also living in a house my aunt owns and so the rent is fairly low. except for my mostly vegan diet, rent and insurance, i'm able to save almost all of my salary. i wanna continue like that for another 7yrs and then retire before i turn 40. that's when im going to start my second life doing what i always wanted to do as a kid: be a carpenter!
omg I am working a job where there's nothing to do and have to drive 45 minutes, but you have to be there 40 hours. I was literally screaming out of relating at that story it is torture!
Retired at 28. What are you retired from? You are a pro runner for Hoka which includes responsbilities on your part. You don't know what life is going to bring your way. If you're a trust fund baby or there's family $$ available to you then maybe you can stay 'retired' in your 30s, 40s and beyond. Hope it all works out!
@@Dora-bmrwarrior Yeah I guess I’m using retired loosely, retired from having to go to a job every day. Sure I have some responsibilities from Hoka, but it truly doesn’t feel like work. I definitely have no clue about where life will take me! But yeah I am definitely not a trust fund baby. Maybe someday I will get a job I have to go to again!
@@helenminofaukner I know LOTS of retired people and they still "work". The things you have to do to exist never stop. You are correct in your definition of retired - it just means you quit the 9-5 rat race and now work to live instead of live to work.
I joined the Marines when I was17. I Retired at 37 with full benefits and my friends joke that I'm now a pro ultra runner .
Running Rants has become one of my new favorite series!

I love hearing stories like yours, I'm glad you found something that makes you happy! Thanks!!
@ would love to get you on the podcast to talk about how you got sponsored and what it’s like! I’ve been running in Hokas for years. :)
That would be awesome, I’d love to talk about it! My email is helenmino13@gmail.com
One of my new favorite channels. Something is so right about what you have going on here lol. 👍🏾😁

Why is this video so relaxing
well said, these are things I often think about when I go for a run, thanks on sharing your verbal thoughts

That’s awesome! Glad you’re enjoying the running rants!
I love the scenery where you're running! Beautiful!! I'm curious to know what the temperature is there. Looks cold in snow! You are wearing shorts 😊

It’s the worst! I was honestly watching the great British baking show at work and looking into starting a worm farm I was so bored
Happy Holidays and best wishes for a great 2025!

Congratulations on retirement Helen you’re an inspiration
Good luck to you. But this is a cover for deep-seated issues.
