BLOB TRACK INSTANCING (AUDIOREACTIVE) - TOUCHDESIGNER TUTORIAL

hello hello hello. it's your captain typing and it is this time of the year again: merry crisis. this is a special format I started 2020 and it means: I will create something special on my patreon and all the proceeds of the month get donated to people in crisis. this time i chose to support the PCRF Relief Fund For Gaza's ChildrACen. find more information on their site: www.pcrf.net
this month I am creating 4 special tutorials, where peope who have been following me could send me references they would like to see as a tutorial and I chose 4 of them to interpret with my own style and techniques.
for this one I worked with references of nouses_kou ( / nouses_kou )
since quite a lot of people sent me his work asking about the technique behind it, so i'm happy to spill the tea :')
in this tutorial we have a look at how to use the data from the blob track TOP to instance any geometry. i'm also covering how to use the data as text overlay plus I added some audioreactivity and displacement to the input video.

Yall don’t have to do the chop to top conversion for the instancing you can just merge the width and height in the DATS and plug it right into the in scale instance. Idk y they did it the hard way lol, thank u for the tutorial nonetheless

Since the u v width and height are close in the initial table, you can actually use the start col and END col to get all the 4 you need

video codec. You need to convert the video you're using to notch so TD can playback smoothly.

HAP, use shutter encoder to encode your videos. it's just in the codec list when you open the program. it's gonna become a large file, but also works with live stuff like touchdesigner apparently. though notchLC seems to be more optimized, it should work just fine. it did for me at least

i think the non-commercial version of touchdesigner sadly only allows max. 2 blobs :|

I had the same problem because I had non-commercial license and I found that turning on “include lost blobs un table” in blob track gave me some extra blobs!

what video codec are you using? make sure to use one that uses the gpu, otherwise the framerate will crash. i‘m using notch codec, which works good

Found a way around, as my framrate even after converting to notch crashed. Changed my cue point to frames instead of index, and adapted the settings in the math. (((:
