My mom were so close growing up. I mean so close, I would sit on the toilet or floor of the bathroom while she showered, sometimes she’d take me to work worth her during her overnight shift and I’d sleep in the break room. It wasn’t until before her death I started to piece together, the abuse and terrible things she did my entire childhood. And it wasn’t until after she died, I learned about all of her lies and hated her. With time that’s passed, I’ve learned to forgive most of what she’s done. But if given the choice to bring her back to life, I wouldn’t.

She’s doing the right thing by telling the truth about what she went through while she was on Nickelodeon for the past six years. I’m glad that Miranda, Nathan, and Jerry are supporting her as she went through so much trauma. The title of the book is very shocking but tells the audience why she quit acting.

Society has such a big emphasis on loving your parents unconditionally but that’s pretty much impossible when one or both parents have abused you in any way. I totally relate to her. I wasn't a child actor, but my mom projected all of her own insecurities on me. She was a bully my entire life. But then she would love bomb me maybe twice a year telling me how amazing I am. I almost wish she never did that, because it was hard to actually feel my true feelings towards her without being swayed by those handful of times she was overly nice. It took me until I was 23 to realize I was not treated like a normal child should be treated. I would stand by her side for years after my brother emancipated himself at 16 and hasn't talked to her in over 10 years now. Therapy and being treated with kindness and respect from my friends and even just the general public made me realize she was not normal. Why are strangers at starbucks being nicer to me than my mom? Why are coworkers asking how I am but my mom hasnt called me in 8 months? She didn't have a husband to nag at or complain about, so she made her kids her enemy. She treated us like a woman treats her husband that she can't stand, she couldn't wait for us to leave. I think when my mom passes, there will be grief there for the mom I wish I had and saw glimpses of once in a blue moon, but there will be a huge sense of relief and I'll feel like I can breathe for once in my life.

I’m 28 and still don’t have a real relationship with her nor any of my siblings. I’m the youngest of 5. I think when it’s her time to pass on I won’t even be sad. She was never really there she made sure I was well taken care of. But I never got hugs from her as a kid I barely was told that I was loved. I think apart of her feels very guilty how she has treated me because we can go the whole year just about without talking. Mothers day I sent her a text instead of calling because she was always very mean to me and I never thought that she was that great of a mother.. Everyone always wanted my mom to be theirs she put on such a front on how our relationship was to our family and friends. I got the occasional affection from her but maybe a few times a year. Because of my relationship with her and the torment from my siblings and bullying I will be starting therapy very soon. You are not alone. Stay strong!

The ‘Creator’ was Dan Schneider. It’s becoming more widely known that he sexually abused her and Ariana Grande, as well as other child actors on other Nickelodeon shows he wrote and produced. It was later that Nickelodeon finally cut ties with him due to allegations. Ariana Grande will not speak out about the abuse but others have. The $300k was so that she wouldn’t out him openly and directly, but as she said she turned it down and has already implicated him and his abuse on her Twitter.

I am so proud of Jennette and admire her a lot, I'm so happy how much she's opening up and that her book is receiving a lot of attention. "I'm glad my Mom Died" sounds like a serious title and it really catches the attention of all of us since that title makes us realize how horrible Jennette's mom was to her. The fact that Jennette grieved her mom's death at the time feels heartbreaking since Jennette was angry at herself for feeling that way. It's also sad that Jennette still misses her at times even though she was abusive. I mean, Jennette had an eating disorder because of her and her death was the only way Jennette could recover from the eating disorder.
I am that sort of person who seems calm on the outside and struggling on the inside and Jennette's advice is making me think about my whole personality and it's convincing me to face that struggle like Jennette said.
We can tell Jennette has put a lot of effort into her book and it's amazing how she's now comfortable to speak about her past even though it caused a lot of traumatic experiences for her. We shouldn't hate on her because of the name of the book, we should love how confident and honest she is now. It's good that she's not concerned about the opinions of others, because she lets herself know that it won't stop her from releasing her book. Also, I love that Jennette's siblings are supporting her in any way they can, they are amazing!

She looks so chic and cute, as always. I so totally get why her book is titled so sincerely “I’m Glad My Mother Is Dead”. I never had a dysfunctional abusive family background, I so admire her self awareness, inner confidence and candid humor/ strength. She turned her life tragedy/ trauma into healing and helping many others. What a bright talented light she is. 😍🥰😘👏🏻👑💎🏆🎭⚜️📺🥹💪🏻📚✍🏻 🙏🏻 🤍

I love her for being so honest, and It's so hard to be that vulnerable when you are a public figure., I'm so glad she's opening up about all her struggles and is actively working on her mental health. She is still suffering mentally, that is pretty obvious, but doing all this and writing about it, can be nothing but therapeutic for her. I think she is going to do great things in life, and is going to be a very successful person, in whatever field she chooses... her best days are not behind her, but are yet to come ✌️💕

I don''t know how you can say this when it's so clear from the interview that she's not free to talk about her experiences. It seems rather obvious to me that she and Nickelodeon have some kind of settlement agreement that limits what she can say in exchange, I presume, for them not suing her.

This bitch is nuts, she said her mom restricted calories and "touched her" sexually for medical examaniations, then she says in her book title "glad shes dead"
Thats your fuccing mother, look you can disagree with what she did, but she fuccing raised YOU all by herself.... She got up at night to change your diaper to feed you, she sang you songs and cuddled you.....
And you turn around and say your glad shes dead? You stupid evil bitch...... Your heartless....

@@modusvivendi2 I actually agree with you, she must have taken some money in exchange for an NDA. They usually last for about 7 years. I've listened to her entire book and not once did she call him by name, in the book she continually refers to him as "the creator" and the other person she didn't name was called "the network head" I don't blame her for taking the money, she should get something for all the crap she went through. Everyone pretty much knows that she is talking about Dan Schneider as "the creator" anyways 🙄 🤣

I actually saw the producer I believe she’s talking about at my job. I believe his name is Dan Schneider. I gave him a dirty look and he looked at me like I know you know who I am. He’s really creepy! What she said about having resentment towards abusive parents resonates with Me. I completely understand and applaud her for being so bold and raw with the title of that book. I had an abusive mentally ill mother who passed away. I could never say I’m glad she’s dead but I feel that anger toward her both my parents. It’s exhausting dealing someone who drains the life out of you and part of you is glad that it’s over it’s just that most people don’t say it out loud. You can love and hate your parents at the same time.

As a person who struggles with their own mental health issues this gives me so much hope that maybe one day I can be at peace as well. Opening up about things that make you feel embarrased or scared isn't an easy thing but facing them is the only way to cope.
