- The Wild West has gone to Hell, literally, and the world's best hope of being saved lies in the gun-slinging hands of Sheriff Roy Pulsipher (Jeffrey Donovan) as he becomes the newest officer for the Rest In Peace Department (R.I.P.D.) enforcing the afterlife's laws. If the Old West was wild while he was alive, wait until Roy sees how weird it gets once he dies. Roy thought joining the R.I.P.D. would give him a chance to revisit his daughter and solve the mystery of his murder. Instead, he has his holsters full with havoc and hellfire when he's given a mission to stop a dangerous demon from opening a portal to the underworld. The fate of the living and the dead now depends on Roy and his partner Jeanne (Penelope Mitchell), a mysterious swordswoman, as cowboys clash with creatures and undead insanity unleashes apocalyptic chaos.

I have watched it over and over. Yes, Jeffery Donavan is a favorite of ours. This pre-quell was done very well.

It would’ve been better if they made him grow out his hair or at least his beard because you can be like yeah it’s a different actor, but he still kind of looks the same around the same age you should say a beard will age him

In this movie, they said that dead people can’t communicate with their loved ones and anything they say to them will sound like gibberish, but in the first movie, Nick can fluently communicate with his wife even though she is his loved one

He couldn't reveal his identity in the first one. Same exact concept in the second, nothing changed between the 2. He talks to his daughter
Its possible there was some technological advance in the ripd seeing as how this movies setting is the wild west and the previous one was in more modern times.
It seemed like he was talking normal to her in the movie for the people but she couldn't comprehend what he was saying and didn't even know was him so
watched it and thought it wasn't as bad as I thought but of course budget and a notable cast would do a lot for it. story wise obviously the origin story of Roy and the main actor did a good job of playing and voicing the younger version of Roy as Jeff Bridges' character. story wise a few rules of the afterlife were altered like not only not being able see your loved ones as yourself but also not be able to talk directly. Lastly, story could be better in tying into the first one eventually and of course better cgi but again budget! for people like me who actually liked the first one, I would give it a watch to make your own judgement but its not as bad as I first thought when watching the trailer
Wait, wasn't there a DVD extra where Roy talked about how he ended up getting shot by his partner, then watched his body get desecrated by a coyote?
This paragraph is exactly what we set out to say on the movie, except for the part about loved ones, this is an excellent review, we don’t recall any point in the film where loved ones see the RIPD agents for who they actually are, other than that we agree wholly, personally we consider this sequel/prequel to be in an alternate timeline where the rules of heaven and earth are slightly different. Obviously this one was a poor attempt at a money grab as the production team did not study the first film closely enough to make it a convincing prequel, unless the rules of the afterlife and the RIPD have evolved with the times since such a wide gap exists, and to answer the other reply, in the first film Roy clearly states how he died, once again this is not accurately recreated, maybe souls memory’s get hazy, maybe Roy lied; Personally we believe it’s just a poorly executed sequel/prequel.
So this posed to be the Jeff bridges story with out him in it

The Original RIPD with Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds is ONE of the most popular movies on Netflix Right now, March 2023: This second one, should have had Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds, we will just say that.
As this was a straight DVD production, its budget would’ve naturally been a lot smaller. Too small to afford either of those actors.
Would have made more sense to have Jeff Bridges play his role again seeing how in this universe or mostly any store from any creator ghost don't age so this literally just makes no sense
Because the first one bombed, I don't think you'd get either of them bac. I didn't mind R.I.P.D but I have no idea why they'd expect anyone to watch the prequel without Bridges.

Roy's original age is disregarded and along with what he said about his partner killing him. RIPD 2 is a reboot/retcon, not a prequel

Interesting. The first RIPD didn't interest me. I never saw it, but I like Jeffrey Donovan. I might have to check this out.
I only liked the first because of the premise and world building and this movie had do little of that.

I only watched the first movie for the cast. makes sense to only watch the sequel for the cast too.
I liked the first one, the game was hilariously bad and even though this was supposedly released on Nov 15th I've only seen it at walmart today on the shelf...
Tho the one thing I hate is when these companies feel like they are entitled to mooch as much money off of us as they want, why in hell would I pay anything more than $10-15 for a single disc (10 for dvd, 15 for BR), and this one unlike others don't seem to carry a DC which is more salt into a deep wound... It's the sole reason I never bought Maverick, I'll wait till the BR hits $15 thanks.

But Roy said his partner killed him, then a coyote made love to his skull some time after that. But he dies here because he didn't bother checking his 6 more then once. Looks like it was filmed on a phone. Jeffery Donovan is too young looking to play an old man marrying off his mid-20s daughter. He's also far too talented to be acting in this.

Narrowed down to the media. Plenty of volume here. 17 monsters turned themselves in. One is still on the run. Kidnapped media reporters and Cameron. Monsters takeover CNN and TV stations. Yelling, and strange looks and machines. Planned meeting and barracades, throngs of RIPD cars roll through. Where have all the cowboys gone. Need that cowboy stuff. April's interview. She was scared of this one. Hired. Partner a male pyschic. Jeff bridges of available.
Evolution center. The origin of species. The origin of monsters and man.
I really hope M Knight Shyamalan makes the next R.I.P.D Installment. Excellent film, please watch. I promise i have no involvement in it financially.
And Hollywierd has F'd up another classic fun film and turned it into a woke POS.
