Every Ryan Reynolds movie can be considered a canonically friendly Deadpool movie until proven otherwise.
Deadpool & Iron Monger vs Sebastian Shaw
That's because he's a shitty, one note actor who plays the same character in every movie: himself
@@phaethonprime6427 You could, idk, simply don't watch the movies he's in?
@@d4n617 haters gotta hate
The proposal best freinds detective pikachu would beg yo differ
This is one of those weird movies where if someone told me that they hated it, I would totally understand. Me, personally? I kinda love it for how insane and janky it is. It's messy as hell but it has a charm to it. For example...what the hell is with the cumin thing? Why does cumin and other Indian food expose Deados? It's never explained. The humor goes between super funny to downright cringeworthy. The action is...honestly, kinda unique. The way they film everything with constant zooms and swerves of the camera is wild. The CGI for the Deados is bizarre, they look so cartoonish but almost purposefully so.
I have to agree with you
@@provokedrobin608 cumin is a very old human crop and is thought to have been cultivated by ancient egyptians and was used to mummify the dead.
Its antibacterial properties made the egyptians think that it would help the dead keep their bodies fully functional in the afterlife.
Did I think RIPD was a good film? 🤬 no!
Did I enjoy watching it? 🤬 yeah!
A movie can be entertaining and still be bad
Now that you say it, i wonder if they purposely used the uncanny valley type of cgi to make them feel unnatural which would literally be what they are, a person that defied nature
I would love to know how many people from the Van Helsing movie, with Hugh Jackman, had a hand in making this......
They just vibe similarly, for some reason...... I would liken (barely avoided a lycan joke....) this movie's CGI effects to that era, as well......maybe that's it?
For some reason I would not be surprised if one (or more) of Dracula's wives came cackling out of one of those holes.....
You can tell Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds are having hell of a time.
Probably one of the funnest movies they ever made damn good actors
Until the reviews came out
this is a perfect definition of a guilty pleasure movie
1:48 That “HOLY SHIT!” sounded so wholesome.

Lol😂
People hate this film but it’s awesome to me!! Jeff bridges and Ryan Reynolds are a great pair
I don’t care what anybody says
I actually enjoyed it
It's one of those movies with very normal plot, but it's just enjoyable at the same time.
@@IndpethGeneticPolymat yup, the plot was dullsville. But Jeff Bridges kind of carried the film. Overall I enjoyed it.
it's a fun buddy movie
not every movies need to be masterpieces
Imagine if there were RIPD meets Ghostbusters meets MIB...
That would be so dope!
That was kind of the whole inspiration for this movie though ( MIB + Ghostbusters)
I love how some of the portals resemble skulls. That’s a neat detail.
fun fact, Free Guy and R.I.P.D were filmed in the same locations, i never got to see this movie but i have freeguy and these locations looked way too familiar, this is epic and they both starred ryan reynolds
Lots of films and series do use the same locations. There's a particular spot beneath a metal bridge, painted in a dark red that gets used very frequently in New York i think.
4:33 Ha the worst thing when being late for the lift....
This is a weird movie but I absolutely love it. And Roy is the MVP. Jeff Bridges plays a lot better with Ryan Reynolds than anyone could have predicted
Everyone hates this movie but personally, I loved the action and the cool camera shots. Plus, it's just stupid fun
It's not a great movie, but I'll admit it's a fun one, which takes good advantage of its subject. Not a lot of live action movies which can be so free with the physical comedy like this.
Everyone? But you? Really?
I liked it so I guess I'm not everyone :)
It doesnt bother you that this is just a re hash of Men In Black and it totally sucks?
@@worsethanhitlerpt.2539 It actually follows a particular comic book from Dark Horse comics (which is a totally different series than the MIB books by Malibu comics). When you get a movie that is an adaptation of a tongue-in-cheek comic (or graphic novel) it becomes possible to be a little (or a lot) "over the top."

If they ever make another, they should make a Prequel that explain the origins of the Staff of Jericho.

Huge bomb @@gamerstheater1187?
@@JeffreyBarkdull the movie
@@JeffreyBarkdull it did very badly in the box office
You know...this movie was absolutely bat crap ridiculous, like WHY was it a thing in the first place?
That being said, I love it.
it was a thing cause it's based on a mysterious comic book
@@gamerstheater1187 A pretty well-done comic from Dark Horse comics, which, prior to this movie, had a pretty good rep for comic-to-film releases (The Mask, Mystery Men, American Splendor, Hellboy, Sin City, 300, etc.). They took a lot of liberties with the main plot while leaving the framework and characters intact (the casting of Bridges for Roy was an excellent choice). Good CGI, poor body horror tropes, and running for more comedy than the comic had (but hey, Ryan Reynolds, right?).
The original writer was Peter Lenkov, who was/is the showrunner for the rebooted "Hawaii Five-0", "MacGyver", and "Magnum P.I." The artist was Lucas Marangon, who I think has a nice, clean style and has done a number of Star Wars comics for Dark Horse, as well "How To Train Your Dragon" and his own "Hellcyon".
Seen far worse flicks, but seen far better, too. Decent popcorn, movie, though.
@@Travlr013 I thought it bombed cause no one heard of the comic
@@gamerstheater1187 But then you have movies like "30 Days of Night", "American Splendor", "A History of Violence", "The Bad Guys", "Extraction" (maybe unfair on that one since it was Netflix only), "From Hell", "Kingsman", "RED" and a couple of other big hits that virtually no-one outside of comic book fans realized were based on comics. So it has to be something more than just that.
It placed 7th for box office in it's opening weekend, which wasn't bad, but they were also up against "Despicable Me 2" (4th week, was #2), "The Conjuring", "RED 2", "Pacific Rim" (2nd week), and even "Grown Ups 2". And the next week saw a 2 place fall, and then week 3 saw them crumble. So it was more likely poor marketing (even with their Adult Swim animated short), bad plotting, over-reliance on injected comedy (the comic had very few laughs for the most part), and a word-of-mouth campaign resulting form all that which was impossible to beat. They had a 10-week first-run (a full 70 days), which given their numbers I think was being incredibly kind to them.
Even in 2013, a $78 million box office wasn't exactly bad, but against a ~$150 million budget, was beyond disappointing.
As I said, I've seen far worse flicks, but I've seen far better, too. Decent popcorn, movie, though, especially when combined with a few "beverages-of-choice" to wash the kernals -- and the movie -- down.
@@Travlr013 Don’t forget about Berserk too

7:02 my brother in christ you're holding 2 revolvers not a baseball bat lol
Seems like this might have more compelling if he was trying to save the souls from being eaten by the dark god, claiming all souls have value, and the system doesn’t save them because they’re considered evil and would overwhelm the systems of heaven and earth. It’s morally ambiguous and would add depth and complexity to both sides of the debate, allowing for greater characterization of all persons and systems involved.
Ah but you see then the movie might have been well written and interesting 😂 (don’t get me wrong, it’s an awful lot of fun, but it can’t be accused of either of those)
8:06 "Get over here"

They're literally removing people from existence every time they shoot someone. That bothers me.
that's what I was thinking
@@gamerstheater1187 if you can't find the corpse and if the soul doesn't exist they're erase from existence permanently
@@grimreaper6896 Many believe that we rejoin an energy band around the earth when we die. It's a transfer of energy, not a coalition of individuals. You are not erased, you are basically rejoined, but the personality of who you were while you had a human body, is gone. That may be true, it's not heaven, but it's not over, either.
