  • In this episode we go through Jimi Hendrix style on rhythm guitar.
    We talk about some of his most used chord shapes, and licks within chords and give you the tricks to play it like Hendrix himself.
    Hendrix playing style is a lot more than his lead skills. His rhythm playing is so rich and the most under rated aspect of his playing.

    Thank you Budda you cared about what I wrote to you last week and you carried me away too ! Hope this one will be liked/share and will bring you lots of suscribers ! You inspire me and help me to get better at what I like doing. Concerning the video itself I think it was great because you first played the classics describing how jimi was playing his melody with all the magic around it, and then you described the chords/licks we can play with to stay in this tone. Now lets work :) PS : Jelly 292 was insane. Stay groovy Budda ;)

    Awesome !!!
    I watch videos of Hendrix playing and my learning is thrown off by his exceptionally long fingers, especially his use of his thumb to execute two thirds of a barre chord. It's like a magic trick that distracts mere mortals like me from the true essence of his chord / melody playing. Thank you Mr. Guedes for the optical de-mystification. I predict subscription success for you on this channel.............

    i always dig on the way Jimi would do a lick/run up in the higher part of a position then do something similar down in the basssier section of that same position. just saw you do it too. excellent man!

      Thanks. Mine Aloísio has .09” gauge. This is not really a Hendrix Strat, at least officially! It was ordered to Fender by music store As a special edition. But it’s basically the same. Just doesn’t say Hendrix anywhere.

    Also, what I love about your approach is that you don't bother with the whole thumb-over affair. So many other "play like Hendrix" videos seem to mainly focus on that, which is not only misleading, but also off-putting to a beginner or someone new to the style because instead of playing and focussing on the notes themselves, the rhythm, etc. you just end up struggling to get anything out with the thumb doing the bass.

    Budda, one of my new favorite channels on RUclips.. thanks man! Love the lesson !!! 👍
    Do you think the Hendrix guitar makes a big difference in playing melodic Hendrix style or tone?

    • @BuddaGuedes
      @BuddaGuedes  7 лет назад +2

      Wow!! thank you so much!!! I think it all makes a difference, but any strat could do it! This guitar in particular has a special tone into it. It's brighter and very different from all the strats I've played.
      Bu th emost important thing is the concept of Hendix playing style. Eve Jimi played with different guitars (even Gibson SG's) and sounded just like himself!

    Great vids, Budda! I just subscribed to your channel! One quick question: Did you Mesa Transatlantic head come in that color from the factory? Is that an after-market custom job (spray powder)?
    Thanks. I absolutely love the aesthetics of that headshell! :)

      Thank you very much! As for the TA30 it's custom made by Mesa Boogie for me. The factory version is black and silver.
