And they clash ideas too. I can feel the old guy is always bias with foreign cars and the young guy (newer gen) is always open minded and more rational.
There’s no way that Toyota didn’t know that Honda figured out that people hate Touch Sensitive volume controls. Absolutely baffling why they would put them in this car.
Keep in mind that this has been out in Japan for years. People may have not complained about it for some reason. If people here have an issue, they will likely replace it with a knob.
I agree with Tommy it’s not about how it drives. This is a car for hauling the family and their gear and still looking good in the parking lot of the little league games.
Why do people like journalists care so much about how a car drives? They drive the same. The majority of people who buy cars buy it for family vehicles or sensible daily drivers. No one is gonna be doing 0-60 and quarter mile or driving on roads like a jerk, cutting off people in traffic just because they have the power to. Also why is more power better? No ones ever going to be able to use it. Even if they do it’ll last only a few seconds maybe a couple mins. Just because a car is fast and has tight steering and sports car handling doesn’t make that vehicle the better option or even necessarily the safe option. If that’s so, why do cars like Camrys or rav4s or corollas outsell all the performance or European brands put together?
Lovely design but here are some concerns. 1. It's larger than a RAV4 but smaller on the inside. 2. Less headroom than a RAV4, and even less with the sunroof. 3. No volume knob on the larger 10" screen. 4. The rear turn signal lights are integrated into the bumper and are too low. 5. Offer it as a plug-in hybrid. 6. Would prefer a moonroof (opens to the elements) than a sunroof with the glass that frosts on/ off. 7. Three inches shorter than the old Venza. 8. Touch-sensitive controls are a disappointment.
My new 2021 Venza Limited is way better than my 2018 NX300 Hybrid. More horsepower, quieter inside, better audio system, comfort front seats, 360 views, video rear mirror, and more..

I dont know about a whale, but it does look like a harrier hawk. I definitely love JDM all day and the fact that it's hybrid only with Lexus looks has me absolutely sold! A sports car should be a 2 door coupe a functional crossover should be absolutely what this new Venza is.
the Harrier has been quite a top seller in Asia for generations after generations, and we have a 2L naturally aspirated and a 2L turbo engine variants... the hybrid seemed to be around for the Lexus RX for some time already, we'll have to wait for a hybrid Harrier though...

Elderly parents just picked one up. The Venza LE is similarly equipped to the RAV4 XLE Premium Hybrid. Couple hundred in difference out-the-door cost. Venza has a much more quiet interior and smoother ride, which made all the difference. Definitely a feel of luxury. LE has smaller infotainment screen, but physical buttons are so much more convenient. By the way, agree a lot with Tommy on this one
I have the old Venza. I am so disappointed how they have made this cool SUV so small. The old venza was not only big, but sportier and ofcourse more powerful than this new one.

IDK about the Prime because of the price, but def. more my style. And no, the touch volume controls in the center suck. It is redundant in the heat/ac controls as well. I would not buy or lease it. lol
May 2021. I just bought the Limited with the Panoramic sunroof. It was between this or the Lincoln Corsair. My comments are on the infotainment system. Sure, it’s confusing if you don’t read the manuals. Car reviewers don’t have time to read the manuals. Took me about 5 hours to learn most commonly used items. Our windshield fogged up. Couldn’t find the right button. Needed to read the manual after we got home. Basically, a buyer will learn the functions quickly. I like it.
With the same base and wheelbase as RAV4 you could say the car is a luxury version of RAV4. 6 inches longer only extends the overhang to accommodate the coupe design not space. The top of the dashboard which is still plastic, does it mean it is not better than the Mazda CX5?
lol is it me or lately has Roman been calling anything that isn’t a pickup or giant suv small? To me a small car is a subcompact or maybe a compact (for Toyota the Yaris and Corolla). A vehicle not being massive doesn’t make it small. Love the channel this is just been annoying me lately...
I just bought venza hybrid limited I love it very comfortable you are right i agree with you venza is beautiful looking Suv but your dad he have a problem for me look like he didn't like Japanese car very much anyway thanks for your video take care bye from milton Ontario Canada
Test drove one today and it felt small inside....and when I got out I noticed the left back cladding separated from the body’s shell. Wish it at least had a rotary knob in between seats to navigate the infotainment.
The older one didn't sell. This version isn't too small for NA, as it is basically the same as a RAV, which sells a ton here. The difference is mostly in the rear storage and is minor. It's more an empty nester's vehicle more than a family hauler. Fits that bill nicely.
I agree with Roman that it’s a JDM car, which is refreshing. It’s got the look and feel of its Japanese heritage and was made in Japan. Roman may remember the JDM cars of the 80s and 90s like Prelude, Celica and MR2 that had Japan heritage. Now most Japanese cars try to be Buicks or Lincolns.
Definitely more JDM than American; the tidy dimensions, the sleek flowing lines, the hybrid-only powertrain, the emphasis on a well built, nicely appointed interior as opposed to a more spacious but cheaper one. Also, this new Venza along with a lot of current Toyotas are baleen whale inspired because the Japanese love whales, well they love catching and eating them that is.
I recently secret Santa my sister with the XLE model but it comes with both power and tuning nob, however I keep pushing the windows up because it feels like my last 2018 Jeep Compass with no sunroof when my windows where down on the highways. I really like the almost 39 mpg and the nice your too close to the lane assist unlike my 2020 Honda CR-V touring, which my sister secret Santa me with, which it’s a bully and extremely sensitive. I normally drive with the lane assist off because it keeps bouncing me left to right unlike the venza much finer tuned. Honda step up your game! I can’t get the MPG as promised on my CR-V even while driving within speed limits 😔 wish I could get a VENZA with some of my CR-V specs but I guess you can’t have it all. I do miss my backup cámara from my compass though Toyota and Honda sucks at theirs.
IMHO, it seems that engineering takes priority over design with most Japanese automakers. Which makes me believe that there isn't any simultaneous product design and engineering that I thought was the culture with them. It seems that engineers do their work and then throw it over the fence to designers and tell them to deal with it. I could be wrong. Thanks for a very real world review. I'm sticking with the new NX although it's heavily tech oriented while the interior design is somewhat disappointing.
No volume and other knobs in this Toyota ..... and cheap fold down arm rests (ya you Honda) for the driver and front passenger are non starters. That’s why many “loyal” customers left Honda. Toyota...put them back...they are safer and easier to use. And make the door armrests in the Hylander reachable for our beloved elbows or watch even more market share move to the Koreans.
I am 100% cross over wagons. But after 4 mins in I started thinking the wife might like this vs the Lexus she's wanting. I'd love the price of this better!!! Love the color exterior and interior looks ok in black, meh for interior. Could you all do more cars up Lick skillet road? I'm more with Romans opinion way off compared to older one. But Tommy has the best point. It's a yota, it'll run forever before dollars get tossed for maintenance.
Have 2008 Rav4 and that thing has never had one thing go majorly wrong with it besides maintenance in 160k miles. The HVAC controls make some noise when switching between modes, and some suspension parts have worn out which sure that happens it's wear and tare but that is it. I can all but promise you this thing will not last 160k with that kind of track record
Seems the Japanese are stampeding to video game infotainment systems, where everything is controlled by gestures or balky capacitor switches. The Subaru Outback is just as bad.
There's only one conclusion of the new venza wanna know? It's a new Lexus with a toyota badge do u agree? I thought that this car was a new suv to Toyotas suv lineup but it is the new venza. I just wanna see a whale and a new Toyota venza side by side.😄😄😄

Looks like a swollen ford escape. Not impressed.
From the front it looks like a whale, from the back it looks like the Jaguar F pace, and the engine forces the car to be a Flintstone car....
Seems the Japanese are stampeding to video game infotainment systems, where everything is controlled by gestures or balky capacitor switches. The Subaru Outback is just as bad.
Just leased the Limited in red yesterday!!!
There's only one conclusion of the new venza wanna know? It's a new Lexus with a toyota badge do u agree? I thought that this car was a new suv to Toyotas suv lineup but it is the new venza. I just wanna see a whale and a new Toyota venza side by side.😄😄😄
Good videos and I like the contrasting viewpoints with the buddy reviews! Speaking of the Tundra, I am looking at an 08 with 220,000km (140,000 miles) for 11,000$ Canadian. Is it worth the time to go check it out and maybe haggle or just take that price. Thanks guys!!!
If its in good shape and not rusty that seems fair.
@@BullittKid08 thanks much. Gotta love this community 👍It looks great on the video walk around I had with the guy. Just wanted another opinion before I drove 3 hours away.
@@coryernewein check the rust underneath and if you get it make sure to change all the oil(engine/gear/axle)
@@shitloveaduck thanks, I had a ranger in my youth that I didn't check the suspension shackles and it cost me dearly in time and money lol good call thanks much!!!
@@knightride9635 yes rust is a worry of mine especially in Canada lol nice call on the fluid change. I bet the diff and trans have been left to their own devices so to speak! Thank you for your time bud
but the nav map cant fully expand to the 12.3" it seems !? its like in Lexus cars but more modern.
