just happened to me today... i immediately went to amazon to check my purchase date... Apr 14th 2022... exactly 1year and 4 days... i guess cuz i didn't purchase the extended warranty, their algorithm ran to brick my phone right after the warranty expired... lol i liked my charge 5 up to this point, but this will make me think really hard bout buying another fitbit product... :( Edit: I did call fitbit support in hopes of there being some new fix for the issue, but after tyring a few more things they asked me to try, they looked into my details and confirmed I was still eligible for a replacement (I guess because it is a widely known issue) and they sent me a replacement within a week! Fitbit has amazing support. I was very pleasantly surprised! They have a customer for life now. :)
Same happened to me. I was able to call Fitbit support and get a replacement under warranty. It is bricked. Seems to be a problem with the software. Too bad that Fitbit cannot create a way to reinstall the software, which would seem to solve all of these problems. My Fitbit lasted a little over 6 months.
Almost same thing...the battery started to run down quickly and now its just on the logo screen only when I place it back on the charger after 11 months. The screen never changes until the battery drains down again. I wish the company could do something to win back the customers of this Fitbit Charge 5.
got mine as birthday gift last week, lasted a day and once it wanted to do its big update, same boot loop, with red circle/white X on screen perm. Sent back to Amazon, got replacement, all good so far, replacement had 60% charge out the box, and i did the update immediately after hooking up the USB cable. Working as expected so far.... 🤞
I have the same issue .. chatted with the support personnel and nothing .. i just get the logo and off and nothing else ..worked for two months .. horrible ...this being my 4th fitbit.. i should have learned my lessons with my last couple of fitbits.. at least they lasted on a average of 6-8 months .. this beats them all with just two months into the purchase and one morning all i see is the logo.. arrrrg
The same problem happened to me. I bought the product eight months ago, and I only wear the watch for one hour while walking. Honestly, the product is beautiful and I liked it a lot, but I think there is a technical defect in the watch. I hope that the defect will be fixed in this beautiful watch, knowing that I have contacted the owners Warranty and as for waitingbug fix
Honestly I would suggest buying the extra warranty for just $29. It gives you an extra year or two? It’s unfortunate we have to pay extra when we paying up the $160. But even at $160 it isn’t much money compared to the Apple Watch or other competitors as these fitness trackers can be pricey. I think fit bit should focus on quality control and start using reliable chips. I don’t care to pay an extra $50 but give me something that will last me at least 3 - 4 yrs. It’s obvious they are cheating out on hardware and they take the gamble but ultimately we the consumers pay the price when we have the bad look of getting a buggy product.
My fitbit charge 5 behaves like yours, i.e. the non-stop logo loop. I believe that this issue was caused by the automatic firmware update. An old fan since Alta but now is really disappointed with fitbit.
Same boat!!! I had 3 Charge 5s two screen LCD bleed out... And one in the forever reboot loop! When I contacted support they offered me a discount or a replacement Fitbit charge 5 I chose to get a replacement... I also checked my receipt original purchase I had a 90-day return policy... On the very last day of the 90 days I replaced it at place of purchase and had a Fitbit replacement coming in the mail... Support give me a 50% discount code 35% for the other on the last two... I absolutely love the design of the Charge 5 but my very first one didn't even last 90 days!!!
Same thing happened to me, blue logo, nothing would change. Fitbit have sent me a new one apparently. I have had the product 2 weeks, so, not a great introduction to Fitbit so far
😂out of the box mine didn’t work. Thankfully it’s an easy product to exchange for a new, functional one. I’ve had two other fitbits in the past, they are good products and at least the company stands behind them and helps you when you need it.
I’ll be honest I bought the charge 5 and had it for about a year. Then Fitbit had an update. This caused the issue your describing. Tried getting it solved. No warranty and they basically said buy a new one. Like what? What company does that! They send a update which broke the device I already paid for and they want me to purchase a new one… I know this is a bit late, but recently I tried seeing if anyone figured out a solution that might get it working again which led me to this video… but no luck 😂 🤦♂️ You would think this would be grounds for a lawsuit. Like you purchase a product from a company, they send a update that breaks the devices and then tells ya your out of luck unless you have warranty… that’s like Apple updating their phones to intentionally kill your battery and force you to upgrade a new phone. 😂 It’s a shame too because I actually liked Fitbit and was a customer for over 5 years. 🤦♂️
Same happened to me, used only for 38days. Talked to the fitbit support, their suggestion was to replace the device (very easily, seems like this is a known issue to them), yet they cannot do it, because they cannot provide a replacement to my country of residence. utterly disappointed!!!
Hi there - I have the same issue. Fitbit sent me a replacement Charge 5 but it’s doing the same thing - continuously getting stuck in the reboot loop. Resolves if I disconnect from my Fitbit account but once I setup it happens again.
Got two about six months ago. Mine no longer swipes left/right. Tried resetting from menu and cia USB cable several times each. Nothing changed. No functionality on swipe left/right. My partners has bricked, nothing, zip, zilch, Nada... Black screen, tried all recommendations for resetting via USB cable. It's dead Jim... I quite like the software and functionality, when it works. We even bought the Aria weighing scales to synch with it. But it would appear that either the software or more likely the hardware has some major flaws. Will be avoiding fitbit from now on. No experience of other fitness bands or watches, so can't compare, but this is garbage IMHO.
similar issue here, except that mine will display the fitbit logo and nothing else. It will vibrate if I press the button on the charging cable, but no activity at all beyond that. Not recognized by bluetooth. Less than 4 months of functionality. Purchased on Amazon March 2022. Time for a fitbit recall.
Had the same problem with my wife's phone. Here is how I resolved it. Open the Fitbit app on your phone. See do any updates to the Fitbit. After 10 minutes or so. It was back to working normally. Good luck
I had a charge 5 for 13 months the very second the warranty ran out the screen crashed and ECG would not work the water seall fails and once it starts chrashing its chuck away time they are terrible
Had this issue with mine, it comes up with a red X in a circle on the screen, resetting just shows the fitbit logo then goes black. No green flashing lights on the device sensors...... fitbit won't replace this, as this model was a replacement for my previous one that broke and was in the warranty period. I've had this around 1 year and a handful of days before it bricked and won't sync or charge...... firmware issues...
Just happened to me, charge 4. Stuck at 100 with a Fitbit logo. Managed to power it off and saw the 😊 face. Not black screen, vibration if clicked on the button. 4 years of usage, enjoyed it. But selling to google made me lose trust…
Mine just bricked itself with the Fitbit logo loop, exactly 5 days after the 1-year warranty expired. My Charge HR and Charge 2 were also bricked in similar fashion. Planned obsolescence is a real thing. *I won't be buying another Fitbit again.* EDIT: I spent an hour with Fitbit customer service and they walked through all the steps that have been outlined by everybody, and determined that my device was faulty. Being within roughly a year, they honored the warranty and is sending me a replacement. No, they are not paying me to say this. The guy who helped me was super professional and courteous. They send you an email with an option to either replace your current model (I chose this) or give you 50% discount on any model of your choice. I am satisfied with their service.
what the hell for this, i bought fitbit luxe not enough 2 year, show same problem like video then customer service say only one year warranty. This is unacceptable for me , got any soloutions?
Mine has the same boot loop and on top of that it refuses to read my heart rate. The green light doesn’t even go on anymore. This is like a 2 yr old device and should not be acting this way so soon. I’m so disappointed. I had the 4 and never had issues with it. Idk but for $160 I expect to at least get a good 3 yrs or more maybe even 4 out of it. And I used mine very moderately. Idk how it just went bananas so fast.
OMG same thing happened to me. I got bricked. First i had the Versa a few years ago and that died, got the charge 5 1 year ago, past warranty,. Was troubleshooting with fitbit for 2 days to no avail. They offered me 35 % off a new one but after 2 different ones, I'll pass on that.
This just happened with my girlfriends Fitbit Charge 5. Pretty much bricked. She had it no more than two years. I was turned off a long time ago because of the subscription you have to pay just to use the full feature, what a rip off!
Had it for a little over a year, noticed it not holding a charge as long, was plugging it in more frequent all of a sudden died on my arm will not take a charge now... says 1% charging will go no further $130 paperweight... this is my second Fitbit I will never buy any of their products again... far as I know they bricked it with a update... Hewlett-Packard just did it with their printers not allowing aftermarket print cartridges to be used in them ...
I didnt get it fixed. It was my first fitbit and I therefore had no loyalty to them or a fitbit history of exercise to keep going. So I chose to return mine for a refund (gotta love Amazon for that) and ent with Garmin. Garmin wast more expensive but rock solid from day one.

I found that just because the battery is too low so the watch will keep notify you and there must be some bugs here , so the watch will keep reboot again and again. The way to fix it is recharge it till the battery is above the warning line, then the problem will gone.
