Two methods for resetting your Fitbit Charge 5 fitness tracker, one for devices that still have a functioning touch screen and menus, and the second for those with a frozen or non responsive screen.
For the first option, you only need the Fitbit Charge 5 tracker itself.
First wake the screen if not on already, then swipe down to access the menu, scroll through until you find the settings cog logo and tap the logo.
Next scroll or swipe downwards to the section marked Reset Device.
Touch or tap the screen and then read the notice and scroll or swipe to get the RESET or cancel options, Reset will reboot your Fitbit Charge 5, cancel will return you to the previous menu.
Second option will require the original Fitbit Charge 5 charging cable and a suitable USB power source.
First turn on the power source and then plug in the charging cable USB Type A, make sure the contacts are matching up and you should feel a vibration.
On the USB plug there is a small push button.
We need to press this button 3 times and leave a 1 second gap between presses. Each press should register with a vibration from the Charge 5, if it does not, then reposition the charging cable.
After a short pause the watch will reboot and show the Fitbit logo and then the watch face shortly after.

Mine quit syncing all of a sudden. Nothing I was finding helped. Using the phone's settings to restart the device finally worked. For some reason the button presses on the recharge cable wasn't working, but this got it back to where the phone could find it to pair. For anybody reading this comment and needing to pair their fitbit again with their phone, it did take a while for the phone to find the fitbit but it got it and then it synced. This video was very helpful! Thanks! 👍👍👏👏

Thanks! Solved my problem immediately. Had no idea about this simple reset feature. for days my watch would not sync or apparently charge (it said 68% charged, but after 3 button presses reset it was @ 100% charge & sync'd immediately).

Vibration could be felt on device and logo reappeared but screen is still frozen on logo and goes not respond to any touch
sounds like a screen or hardware failure, try getting in touch with fitbit support and see if there are any other options to try

Erased some of yesterdays steps, and has recorded none of today's steps...
Before, it continued collecting steps on yesterday's date... even though the date was for today...

So I did thus with the battery and the steps in my Fitbit changed! I was over 10,000 but steps weren’t registering on my iPhone. After the reset the steps match but I’m back to 2700 steps ☹️ thus is second time it’s happened in about 2 months never had problems with charge 3 it’s frustrating
yeah they are a real pain to use
Is there a way to do a complete reset where you need to reinstall the apps to reset them? My timer doesn't work properly and I want to reinstall it from scratch
i don't know if that is possible, the reset should do that really. or a firmware update

My charge 5 stopped swiping left or right only scrolls up and down
Ive tried restarting under settings and with charger but no luck

What do I do it my fitbit app says you must let the fitbit app manage your device to continue setup. Nearby permission us needed to pair and sync your device?

Mine keeps coming back on and then goes off again after restarting. Then doesn’t read my heart rate.

@@mikesunboxing yea I’m giving up on Fitbit and switching to Xiaomi for a way better bargain. Even if it the Xiaomi does breakdown as quick as the Fitbit at least I will only be losing $50 instead of $160.

Took me forever to figure out what was wrong with my charge 5.
Apparently the FitBit app does not work with my Galaxy Z fold 4. I synced it up to an old Tablet of mine, was able to update the device and now it works as intended.

Doesn't help with the "black screen" issue...wish it did. My 1 year old Charge5 could not be fixed over the phone, so they sent me a 35% discount offer to purchase another Fitbit...not what I want from a $150 1 year old watch after owning 2 earlier models.
their QC is awful and i won't likely buy another, Google will kill off the fitbit brand sooner or later, it is their track record

@@mikesunboxing After the third press the logo appeared on the screen for a second or two then it went blank. Fitbit is only 5;months old.
Got it going again now. Opened the fitbit app, updated to the latest version and the watch stared ok.
