@@matthewtaylor2784 he's definitely in a better place in his life now. artists make the best albums when they're going through some shit. just glad we were blessed with 3 good albums.

I'm from Ethiopia. The beginning of this song resembles Ethiopian songs. not only this song, the ending of ____45_____ song too. I love Justin Vernon. he plays every instrument and makes perfect sounds out of them.
I love how frantic the middle of the song sounds. It's like tipping over in your canoe on the icy river after you convinced yourself all week to take that trip.
As a "hipster" myself, I am "sick and tired" of being disrespected simply because I "enjoy" listening to hipsters like Bon. I am proud to "be" associated with hipster culture and I'm sure "that" Bon is too "!".
I'm just happy you're listening to one of my favourite albums to sit with I just want u to be good sitting next to me I love this I want capsules of this I can pop into my mouth to come back to, I'd start taking vitamins
I just can't stop listening to them..they are so tender and when I listen to them I don't feel like crap, I just enjoy the music and listnen the great lyrics. These groups is such a rare thing.Thank God, we have Bon Iver. :))))
congrats to Bon Iver. Been listening to him since he started. he followed and pursued his dreams not listening to all the haters and look what that got him... A GRAMMY!!!
I was painting while watching this video. I looked at my glass of water where I wash my paint brushes, and then I looked at the paint in the video. "Oh yeah! This is going on in this glass of water, and I can finally see it!" This album is amazing! Worthy of many, many Grammy awards and more.
Justin Vernon. Bon Iver is the bands name.. now you are no longer alone. His solo stuff is fantastic also. Whipgrass and Hazelton are some of my favourites
@GuyOnTheSide actually cool and different are probably pretty close to what he was thinking. right behind beautiful. No Shame Man. Hipster bashing is lamer than hippie bashing. This Hipster Revolution is going down in history whether we like it or not!
Very creative colourful video which is beautiful. Some colours remind me of universe nebulae with areas full of mystery, and most bon Iver songs are so calming, a treat to listen to and watch, there are also sometimes other emotions like sadness in his songs.
honestly, when I heard they were going to make videos for all the songs on the new album I was kinda worried about this because it it my favorite of the album. I can say for certain, this couldn't have been any better. So unbelievably awesome!
Meh. He is Kind of right you know. I was into Bon Iver way back in 06 and folk were quick to call the music emo and now (hate me all you want but..) within the past year or so a slur of hipsters are just going through a crazy phase with him. I am a die hard fan of his music and I skipped one of his concerts in Ottawa(hes never in Canada) just because I dint want to deal with all the hipster fan gals and gents.
@GuyOnTheSide Couldn't you say that anyone that isn't widely recognized is non-mainstream? And consider the fact that something being "beyond the times" is a subjective, abstract concept; not a concrete concept. While I understand your point, I just felt that these parts of your argument need further clarification.
@jmwsctc What does "alternative" music sound like? Alternative is a vague made up genre of music created by the music industry to categorize something they dont know how to pigeonhole. Alternative music is something that doesnt really exist.
@Mikuruification Minnesota accounts for the supply of grains, dairy products, and other things. Minnesotans also hold and practice indisputed Christian morals, whereas folks in the south use the argument of "state's rights" to preserve their lives in sin.
Ooooh... I was WONDERING what "hipster" meant. Now I get it! It's the adjective to describe someone who actually LIKES Bon and this wimpy sort of rubbish. Well, I certainly ain't no hipster. I prefer Justin Bieber.
The timing of the guitar along with the vocals from 2:57 and on... it's almost like there's random 15/16 or 7/8 measures.. Am I overcomplicating something really simple here? what the fuck justin All of a sudden I'm headbanging to the offbeat
What is he right about? That people have called this hipster music? Yeah, I've heard. So some "hipsters" like Bon Iver. They're allowed to have the same tastes as you. I find it really annoying when people feel like they need to go around proving that they're not a hipster. It's like telling people not to call you a nerd because you like Star Wars. Why do you care if people think you're a hipster or not? You know who you are. Be more like the rest of us and just don't give a fuck.
You care too much about what people think. Just because some people refer to this as "emo" music doesn't mean that's what it actually is. I'd expect a die hard fan to understand that. And you actually passed up a chance to watch them live because you didn't want to be associated with hipsters? That's just dumb. A lot of people listen to Bon Iver, and they're not all going to be like you. Just accept that you're not the only demographic out there that's allowed to like their music.
But why are you trying to make that point in the first place? Especially to people who are already Bon Iver fans. We know his music appeals to all sorts of people. Whether you dislike hipsters or not is just not relevant. I see the "I'm not a hipster, but I like Bon Iver" comments all the time and it just gets tiresome.
Justin handed me a demo when we were in college before he was in Bon Iver. Like "hey, check out my band, we're playing at the Stones Throw this weekend" I was like "yeah sure, Justin, sure will..." I think I threw it out or lost it like every other demo I've ever gotten from some who's said "dude you need to check out my band!" Whoops :D
my playlist playing this right after Perth (which I've been listening to for months without knowing about this continuation) is probably the closest I've come to feeling true emotion in ages. Thank you
hipsters just aren't typically the type of people I enjoy being around. it's as simple as that for me. and the overall point I was trying to make is that bon iver appeals to more people than just hipsters. I mean, bon iver is the shit
Believe me it's not a discussion, it's a criticism. I didn't want you to comment about hipsters in the first place and I'd appreciate it if you didn't have anything more to say on the topic.
First of all, I googled "Jerusha" but I still have no idea what you're talking about. Second, I will not check out your soundcloud, but don't take it personally, I wouldn't do it for anyone. Third, thanks for the laughs, this comment was so random it was funny.
Look, I don't know what you're going on about, but I think you need to let this go now. I wasn't defending hipsters because I think they're cool. No one thinks hipsters are cool, that's the point. People are so afraid of having a label that they don't want that they feel like they need to change their tastes so they won't be judged. You're wasting your time trying to recommend me music. I don't really care what you think of the music I listen to.
I am amused when I hear folks fighting over the authenticity of music and artists' styles. This song, whether intended or not, has serious reggae flavor (the melody, horns and bass) and I'm from somewhere that I'd know. Chew on that, rock fans!
Who's judging who?? I believe you were the one that made assumptions about me, called me "self centered" and a "mighty capitalist", and said I only listen to what's cool right now. And if you want to talk about self righteous, how about switching to French halfway through an argument for no apparent reason? Yeah, you're coming across as very hypocritical right now.
@PatrickHamartia "I've been listening to "hipster" music since before they made an ridiculous term for it and I live in Portland, OR" Doesn't get much more "hipster" than that.
This song starts just as Perth ends.
i love how it does that
i love that

It's a marvelous transition
This is beautiful. My favourite Bon Iver song.

I love the delicacy of Bon Iver's music.. I don't know how to explain it, but it is so amazingly unique.
I think you just described it perfectly 👌
How can you not fall in love with it?
Vernon's best song. It shows his best skills, lyrics, vocals, instrumental, arrangement, production.
Gracias a Alvinsch conocí este tema, en un directo con Jorge de Te lo resumo así nomas ¡Esta genial! Para escucharlo con auriculares 💛
Armour let it through,
Borne the arboretic truth you kept posing

Water's running through in the valley
Where we grew to write this this scripture
Never gonna break
Never gonna break
Never gonna break
Never gonna break
Not for a part in any gamut of the dark
Doubled in the toes annex it,
It minute closed in the morning
Did not lose it in the stack's stow,
Imma lay that call back on ya
You know it won't beseech you,
We're laying in an open field
I will let you grow, no need to know this

What is clear up in the daylight is we're hung here
Fall is coming soon,
A new year for the moon and the Hmong here

All that it seems
Bellows tracing through the streams
Never gonna break

I made up all my own lyrics to this song. Except "never gonna break" haha
Never gonna break, never gonna break..

The aesthetic in this video is strong af
I just low how Perth eases into this, both astounding songs. Always gotta listen to them with my headphones.
i'm just amazed, that voice, that music..that sound is perfect
shut up
This song is so unique, i have never heard anything like it. Its truly astounding. Thank you, Tom Hiddleston for having such good taste in music.

This is true poetry. Makes me cry every time

But the problem is thats why people think its cool. Its a matter of being "socially esquisite" as NY Times phrased it.
amazing

Always make me feel invincible.

To say that 90% of people don't know what hipster means is the most hipster thing you can say. Irony.

Replace the vocalist. Chorus effect on a vocalist is unnecessary, unless they aren't any good.
How is this emo music? How is anyone here a hipster? Why are you using hashtags on RUclips?
why most of this songs are names of citys/states? Is it where he was when he wrote them?
Why is everybody talking about hipsters, when Bon Iver has nothing to do with them... ?
I came here because it was spotlighted. Successful advertisement is successful
Trippy shit with the colors. feel like trying it but with a dubstep song
Please thumbs up for no advertisement because thats a big fucking deal.
