Witnessed Bon Iver 2 weeks ago in Melbourne, they don't perform, or play to the audience. Instead They've ascended above that level of musicianship to something ethereal. They're playing to someone unseen, each artist completely lost in the moment for over two hours. They don't perform, they devote. And eventually they surface, thank us all for coming out, and walk off the stage. Leaving us feeling so empty and yet so full.
Anybody knows how he/they are making that kind of overtone/feed tone at 2:43? Is it the guitar? Is it some kind of pre-recorded sample? Or is it something completely different? Thanks in advance!
To be honest, I wasn't completely impressed by Perth live. This is the first video that I have seen of them doing it live and it was very unlike them to underperform the studio version. They overall seemed not together and under-rehearsed. To give them credit, they are only performing with 3 members when Perth is something like a nine part song.
They used to also tour with a million members, which isn't doing anyone any favors, as no one is making money. That might have something to do with it.
@@inflago I do love this version of Minnesota in this minimal form, Perth without two drummers and the additional musicians doesn't have the same thickness in sound I find.
@@rarecordings5934 True on the Perth statement, it's weird without the super heavy wave of instruments. But that version of Minnesota... holy fuck that's incredible

Even though I love Bon Iver so much it should be recognized that this isn't as good as an overal performance by them, but it's fine, no one's perfect all the time

Absolutely terrific. This version of Minnesota, WI is just masterful.
Still alive for you, love
this song>>>>>>>>>>>>> every song in history
4:39-8:38 is just pure magic. For the most part I just love the stripped back version of Minnesota, WI performed here.
Thanks Lindsey

2:43 is kind of quiet - I think just before that is the Les Paul, and after that is a combination of tones
its his fuzz/overdrive pedal
So good i hear this south korea
heathcliff andrew ledger.

Would really benefit from a second guitar in the mix
What? No. They were obviously going for a more stripped down vibe. Honestly, Justin is best and most creative when there's less instruments.
Does anyone have the full concert?
beatriz It’s linked in the description on this post. If you’re looking on mobile, you have to pull down the full description
Charles Wallace yes, I saw it but unfortunately the video it's not available anymore at least not for me. Thank you for answering

I could not disagree more 🖤
Less is more.
As in this a really performance?? Because it's the smallest configuration of his band...
Rip
He's awesome but his vocals were awful towards the end
Perth sounds awful. What a disaster... 😖😖😖
Perth here is bad. Let’s admit
