Lost in Space was my favorite show when I was 5 and it first came out. It remains a favorite to this day (I'm 63 now.) Though the capsule shown at 1:08 that contained the dog has no visible markings, my personal theory is that it was a test ship of Soviet origin, as it has a vaguely Russian look to it, and the Soviets had a habit of using dogs as flight test subjects.
1:57 As a child - and NOW: The Magic Mirror is my favorite black & white episode. If you notice - a LOT of Lost in Space "alien relic" props look Egyptian : well that's because 20th Century Fox had TONS of leftover props from "Cleopatara" (1963) . LOL. Imagine how FUN it must have been to walk around a HUGE prop room or stage and just pick stuff out to decorate the set with !?
Very well done. Huge fan. I couldn’t get over the lasers. The black were a little clunky, then the sleek silver. My buddy and I drew them for hours. Thx for the insight of the stage 6.
Well done and I just took that incredible music of John Williams for granted when I was a kid...Little did I know that whenever I hear it now I instantly go back in time to a comforting childhood memory called Lost In Space.
very cool, nicely done identifying stage 6 in all those scenes, most people, including me aren't really aware of how things like this are done, very interesting and educational.
I saw Dogs last night on Blu-ray; they did a great job making the planet set look expansive. I naively thought a lot of planet scenes were filmed exterior. You can always see the corner of the set in the background though, at least on Blu. They should of placed rounded backdrops on the corner - but maybe it didn't matter for TV broadcast. On another note I like the CGI cast you put together but Mark Goddard should have Jonathan Harris in a headlock.
One of Our Dogs is Missing broadcast on Dec. 8, 1965, and I saw it at age 9--let me tell that this was really intense at that age. The production values were unbelievable what with the disassembly guns and director Sutton Roley's use of extreme close ups and overhead crane shots. Better than most feature films and it still stands up. Seriously, check this one out again and, if anybody can, find out why, at the end, John fires three additional times at the monster but they didn't color in the laser effect? Was this one already too far over on the violence scale?
Mark W , on another site, i read the reason they didnt include the laser animation in that episode was because of time. They were already behind schedule and simply didnt have the time for the animation and post-editing pieces to happen. So Erwin basically said " Cut, Print, Release it".
if you remember, the monster climbed back into the pitt...but was not killed....they did not need the laser effects. the monster attack was thwarted and the show went onward...
I love detail like this. Nice piece of investigative work and editing hamilton . Using the evocative Williams soundtrack 'Penny' works especially well in this.
You show sharp corners for the sides of the set, I always thought the background "sky" diorama was curved...? The bit of cgi of the cast at the end is awesome -- a new series could be made like that. Thanks for the cool vid.
for anyone who did not know it..Bill Mumy wrote a song called take me back....there are a couple of versions, but you might like either of them...Here is the link to one...ruclips.net/video/yON1KaYp9H8/видео.html
Here's a question for LIS fans, something we'd all benifit from knowing, when you watch season 1 closing credits, you are are seeing an incredible California Inst. of Tech. Photo. What is the high magnitude object in the center? I've always wondered what we were seeing
All in that corner of the set..... stage.... LOL.... Irwin was a practical man.... Anyone out there have a copy of the stage(s) blueprints? Mike in LA, Calif
At 1.59 I have always loved that musical the mystery tune I call it. It's in many shows the keeper and others. Anyway I am well off and I am thinking about making a remake of lost in space. I would need to find the right cast. And I want amateurs why because my movie would be shot in b.w. and sometimes no lines just real talk in dangerous scenes. I no how to flim it. Thanks stay tuned.
i was just a 2 year old boy who was glued to the show....the sound effects were the best and the plot lines were great:

Every Wednesday nite 7_8pm😁😁never missed it😸😺
Wish Angela Cartwright and Bill Mumy could see this and comment since they were there. Thanks!
That took A LOT of study and research. Even spotted the cliff inside Canto's cave. Great job. Thanks!

The music made the series transcendent.
Very well done. Huge fan. I couldn’t get over the lasers. The black were a little clunky, then the sleek silver. My buddy and I drew them for hours. Thx for the insight of the stage 6.
All my favourite pieces of background music in the one video. Well done.
Nice to have warmer weather finally.
I'd never appreciated just how massive those sound stages were! It's like what you'd expect to see on a movie set rather than a television production.
20th Century Fox Studios.
Music awsome
Well done and I just took that incredible music of John Williams for granted when I was a kid...Little did I know that whenever I hear it now I instantly go back in time to a comforting childhood memory called Lost In Space.
Very cool! Well done, and lots of fun. As close as we can get to being there, all these decades later...

The bonus here is you get clean (and free) background music with no sound effects or dialogue. Sweet!
Great insight great show June Lockhart always smiling love that woman.
They certainly did get their use out of that set location!
Thanks for posting this video.

That was really interesting and well done, cheers very much.

Amazing what Hollywood can do with those stage sets, giving the illusion when filming that everything is so much larger than what it appears.
It's fun to see that one cliff face identified in all those different episodes.
Always nice to see a new posting~~indulging me in a trip back to happier times :-)

the last four seconds was the best!
Penny sure grew up!
This is so well done! Fantastic job!
x
Cool graphics 👍
Thank you. I always look forward to a new video from you.
What impressive photography. All this time I thought the fight with the "hairy mutant" beast was filmed outdoors.
yeah. I did too until I looked closely.
Very well done :) Thanks for all of your effort ! It certainly paid off :)
pretty cool - that with just a lighting and camera angle change - the scene looks totally different
1:15 looks like it's shoot on location shows you how good stage crew are
In-freakin-credible! WOW! Superbly done.
I could hear an album of the sound track!
They sure got a lot of mileage from that set. The actors must have been bored silly working there.
Incrível este stage 6. Bela reconstrução.

The curves were not as smooth as they should have been as they were visible in many shots.
Great stuff.
Thnx for the post..!

I only watch for the beautiful Penny. I was 5

I never realized that so many episodes used the same "background".
The cliff looked pretty real in BW.
sweet.
Season 1 of Lost in Space should be Colorized.
Hell no!
AT 1:06 that's not Angela Cartwright walking away. For some reason they put a double in that scene.
All in that corner of the set..... stage.... LOL.... Irwin was a practical man.... Anyone out there have a copy of the stage(s) blueprints? Mike in LA, Calif
Fantastic
Very cool.. :-]
This is Cool. This helped!

Amazing! Is there some real footage of studio 6 and other studios during the execution of lost in Space behind the scenes?
VERY GOOD FRIENDS!
Loved season 1. Too bad it wasn't the same in season 2 and 3.
season 1 was very science. Season 2 and 3 were a joke.
@@cherry1311 💯💯
Thank the television executives for that!
I read somewhere that the campy success of Batman influenced seasons 2 and 3 of the show. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery I guess.
That magic mirror was a weird bugger....
Are you telling me that SPACE was in Stage 6 ?!! 😳🤪🤣
na real não perdia uma série. Great
I wish to know if it was a real behind stage footage, anybody knows it?
Where did they film the actual outdoor shots ? Like when they filmed the jet pack, etc.
The Fox Backlot, Red Rock Canyon, Fox Ranch (Malibu Creek State Park) and the Trona Pinnacles. Jet Pack at Red Rock and Trona.
Thanks for the info. I've actually been to Red Rock and never knew.Great upload, many thanks.
All those epidodes in the same place
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
1st season was only the really good season, After that it turned into Sesame Street!
1:30 Kirk fought the lizard guy on that same spot
The backdrops/cycs should be curved without corners.
land of the giants music!
Why do you call sets props?
Ewok at 1:17.
What. A cgi video?? Who cares
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
