About the song:
"Circle of Life" is a song from Disney's 1994 animated film The Lion King, composed by Elton John with lyrics by Tim Rice. It was sung by Carmen Twillie (female vocals) and Lebo M (opening isiZulu vocals) in the film as the opening song, and Elton John also sang a pop version with the London Community Gospel Choir which was included in the film's soundtrack and made into a music video. It was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Song in 1994 together with two other songs from The Lion King: "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" and "Hakuna Matata". "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" won the award. The song reached #11 in the UK and #18 in the US.
The song is also featured frequently in attractions that include The Lion King at Disney theme parks, such as parades.
Michael Crawford sang this song as part of a medley for The Disney Album in 2001.

I saw the movie 3 times in a row at the theaters with my mom when it came out. After the third time my mom made me promise that when she passed away that this song would be played at her memorial. She passed a couple months back and I played it for her. I cried so hard. I will listen to this song at least once every day till we meet again. Love you mom.
When that movie came out I was so far away from feeling anything even remotely co nected to the simple message of real time love in and for life it hit me so hard there wasnt much of me left, today not only is it in me but it's still growing, still giuding me, still feeding me and still the most important lesson I've ever learned, all from a children's movie. EJ was asked if he would the Theme Song for The Lion King he replied yes. I’ll be back. In 3 minutes he returned, Elton John wrote these words, no changes made! When my father got sick he kept saying he was a burden. To which I replied it was okay we were in the circle of life he took care of me and I would take care of him. He had passed and I was struggling after a little time. I was waiting for his sign. One night I had a dream and he was well in it. He kept telling me he just wanted to help me and to listen because he didn’t have long to be with me. Before I woke up in my dream we danced in my home hallway...the song was circle of life. I woke up in a puddle of tears sobbing. It was the most unmistakable sign I could imagine ever sent.
Let’s be honest, for an animated movie, the Lion King was something else. The music, the message and the characterizations were first rate. I don’t know of another movie like it that compares. Elton John’s songs were perfect and this brings me back to the early 90s when the movie came out. So powerful, so touching. One of the best!

I have never looked at this movie when I took my kids to see at. What a shame. Now at 69 years old I'm sitting with my grands of 16 & 18 after seeing a video. I looked up the lyrics of this song and it hit me so hard. What a beauty and Elton John perfomed so good. Whaww how could I have missed this 30 years ago

Sir Elton John, thank you for this song. It can bring a tear to my eyes. My son was 7 when it came out. We must have watched it 50 times. When I hear this song it takes me back to when he was small and that was the best time of my life. I remember my son being mesmerized at the age of 7 standint in the middle of the room watching this movie.Thank you.

I saw the Lion King show in London and I had tears in my eyes at times. It was a magical show. Now this song is a favorite of mine.
This song is forever tied to when I lived in Miami,Florida during and in the aftermath of hurricane Andrew that destroyed the entire south Dade county and two years later it virtually remained destroyed,with thousands of condemned half houses and businesses,people's evidence of peoples destroyed lives everywhere you looked,still dozens of homeless dogs and cats wandering the streets starving. I was rescueing a lot of pets but was trying to have the house rebuilt, it was a hopeless situation.very depressing.Most people ,me included, remained shell shocked for years. This song played on the radio several times a day so it was the background track to everyone's daily life.

Best song Elton John ever wrote hands down by far one of the most meaningful songs ive ever heard in my life the part that always gets me is "Some of us Fall by the Wayside" i always think of one of my best friends who i grew up with who comitted suicide at 26 years old and my wifes niece who died of a drug overdose at 29
Listening to this song and the words are so deep and powerful. Tears running from my eyes every time I hear it. Some of us have to live with the scars and battle through life. I built my walls so high to protect myself from the Evil in institutions. Some of us fall by the way side, some of us sail through our troubles. My twin brother is now at peace and can longer be hurt. I will one day join him where my suffering will end.

My farm life captures this song that reminds my High School years: one of the radio dramas as background at about 5:30pm as my clock and time to feed pigs and keep the horse at our small bahay kubo .
