  • We will pick up our study in Mark 4:1 -12, studying the Parable of the Sower and Soils. If you missed the study on what a parable is, I encourage you to listen to it, as parables will be a part of Jesus’ teaching style at various times moving forward.
Just for a quick overview of what has happened so far, the Gospel of Mark recaps the life and ministry of Christ in a fast-paced way. Until now, Christ has proclaimed the Kingdom throughout this time and steadily unveiled His authority through teaching, healing, and exorcism. Christ has also called the twelve ordinary men who would be His disciples and take the gospel to the world. Even though Christ has an overwhelmingly impactful ministry, the religious elite are unhappy with Him. They keep throwing out false allegations, like Demons possess Him, to discourage His popularity, but it’s not working. The real problem with the religious elite is they are overrun by legalism, jealousy, and envy, and that has led them to set out to kill Christ. As we will see, this has caused Christ to use parables.
This will be a multi-day study; today, we state the parable and briefly overview its elements. Hang in there, guys, and if you haven’t already read Mark 4.
