If only Square-Enix learn to market the games on that console a little better then their previous game. Hope they succeed this time
What Square Enix games would you like to see on Switch 2?
@@user-bq4ud1dg1c Maybe Rad Racer 2 or a Mischef Makers sequel or remake.
@@X2011racer mischef makers they own that
It was speculated that the codename for Switch 2 will be "Oz" (as in "the Wizard of Oz"), so that would fit the O in the port.
Or Oz, as in ounce. In memory of Big Ounce! C:
Omega?
@@icee113Big Ounce helped me build my house. Great guy. He will be missed ❤
Pyoro says Ounce. The fact gamexplain hasnt made a video on this yet is very telling @amariofan64
@@yaryoo in a good or bad way?
Also ngl I think it’s pretty normal to hear about developers starting on Switch 2. We are in mid 2024 after all.
Does this mean SquareEnix will finally release their games natively instead of being cloud-based?
Yup, Kingdom Hearts 4 native edition incoming
Here's to hoping.
the leaks are pointing to the Switch 2's hardware being in the same ballpark as an og PS4, but with more memory, more modern GPU and DLSS, and so far I think the only Square Enix game a PS4 would have issues running at least at something like 900p 30fps would be Final Fantasy 16. If they are serious about bringing their games to "Nintendo platforms" then native ports would be the bare minimum I'd expect
@@Jeff1N
Actually, leaks are indicating to be closer to PS4 PRO.
@user-be3qc7re9o
I've read leaks saying when in dock it's on par with a Xbox Series S and when it's in handheld it's just slightly better than a PS4 but not on par with PS4 pro (handheld)
So guess we really won't know til probably fall/winter this year.
KH3 AND KH4 Getting Ported to Switch 2
I can imagine Kingdom Hearts I, II, Dream Drop Distance and III being ported natively on the Switch 2, especially if Disney allows Sora to appear on the next Smash Bros., but I'm not so sure about Kingdom Hearts IV
If it has the specs that it is rumored to be, than I think it is possible to port IV too.
That's what it seems like infact I would'nt be shocked if we see the actual 1.5 and 2.5 games get announced in the next direct.
@@Cloud-dt6xb but it's been already confirmed that there won't be any news about the next Nintendo console on the next direct, unless you mean that S-E/Disney will port native versions of the first 2 KH games
I wonder if by enhanced they mean that the game will just run better on the platform or if it’ll be Nintendo’s equivalent to The Last of Us Part 1
My biggest fear is that any Nintendo Switch game re-released as a standalone retail title on the upcoming platform have their potential performance enhancements locked behind a new purchase.
It would be best if existing owners of Breath of the Wild could benefit from any performance enhancements, too.
About a year ago a lot of gaming journalists said that at gamescom they were invited to a private room where they got to see botw running at 4k 60fps using dlss, on hardware that the Nintendo reps there claimed was equivalent to what the switch 2 would be capable of. So it'll probably be the same exact botw we know and love but at dlss upscale 4k and 60 fps
@solidsnivy5639
That's not exactly true.
Nintendo does do discounts as well as classic select lineups, but they aren't permanent.
Please please please just put game upgrades in nso instead of charging for every game 💀
I'd rather have it be a free update.
@@militantpacifist4087 I’ll just keep dreaming then 😭
I don't get the point of a BOTW port for Switch 2 if the console is backwards compatible. Maybe it's an enhanced version for people already owning the game like Xbox One games on Xbox Series ?
i wish, i seriously doubt nintendo would ever do something like that
@@Grod2013 New 3DS had a subtle version of the idea with load times improved across nearly all games. And only a handful of developers did noticeable changes like stable performance, 60fps boost, etc.
Or it could simply be a download patch.
@@user-be3qc7re9o The problem is we aren't even expecting Nintendo to go _that_ far.
Hopefully they give us the Kingdom Hearts collection natively on Switch 2
Or buy a good console instead

I believe Nintendo is doing an enhanced port of BOTW for Switch 2. My only request is that for those of us who have brought the game already, they have a downloadable enhanced update for existing owners, even if they have to charge us.
I see BOTW, I click
That checks out with last years closed door Switch 2 showcase rumors! (Enhanced BOTW port and FFVII Remake)
This potential port lines up with a previous rumour for when Nintendo showed Botw running at 4K 60fps a while ago 👀👀👀
Just a bit of a hypothesis here, but… knowing the code name could be ‘O’ (for the new breath of the wild code name as you read), I have a suspicion there will be the Nintendo switch ‘ON.’ Huge leap with no standing in plausible judgement, however it sounds right.
Hehe, Nintendo On.
Remember that hoax from back in the day?
@@ItsLelingTime was there really? I applaud your wisdom, I’ll have to research for myself
There's a rumor out there that "Odin" could be the codename for switch 2
I saw Muji
@@linkszxx Yes, Muji could be the name too. Either one could be it. I think more people believe Muji is the name, but the codename could be anything.
@linkszxx Muji is Japanese for "Generic" - literally a placeholder. Midori and Pyoro say its Ounce
Purely a codename for sure. AYN beat them to the punch.
Square Enix, Konami, Sega/Atlus, Bandai Namco, Capcom, SNK, Koei Tecmo, Marvelous Inc, Level 5, Ubisoft, EA, Valve, Nihon Falcom, heck I even think Microsoft Studios/Activision/Blizzard/Rare/Bethesda/iD Software might make games for the switch 2 too
Of course they will...
@@solidsnivy5639 in the case of Activision, they are obligated to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo's next console
Man I'm beginning to think that everyone is going to talk about the switch 2 stuff now
its basically the only nintendo news happening and also people want to be the first to get info out whether its true or not
Also the state of the other consoles is just...depressing to say the least. As of right now, anything Switch 2 is pretty much a positive thing to look forward to.
Here we go again
@@chibi2239 Sad but true

Y’know what? Maybe we could get a BOTW remake. And THAT’S how Wild can be a true Zelda game again!
Well, 2027 isn't too far along and if we know one thing is we always get the 10th year anniversary re-release of the Zelda game in line. No one should be surprised about that. The real question is, will they wait for 2034 for TotK or will we get, even if not free, an upgrade to TotK?
botw port? that should be a free update
It wouldn't be surprising to see Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom re-released/ported/remastered for the next Nintendo system. Heck they might be holding off on Wind Waker and Twilight Princess for the next system.
I can see both wild era games get ported over to the switch 2 with new and exclusive content
Maybe we will finally get kingdom hearts not on cloud
Square better not screw the KH ports like they did last time. Honestly, no native ports or digital download? Frigging sad.
It looks like they can't afford to half ass it like that anymore.
Yikes ports rumors is not what i expect from the begining of a new nintendo console gen 😅😅
True, but I mean....ports of good games? Or ports of games the Switch could never run? I feel like that's good on some level
Rumors like this have existed for years. Why you acting so suprised?
@@SaltyToad00nah ur wrong never saw port rumors of magazines for n64, gc, wii and wii u first year line up
@@chibi2239nothing wrong with that but i prefer rumor leaks for new launch or first year titles before the port ones
@nessianz4730 I feel like that'll come closer to actual launch.
Pyoro reportedly stated that the Switch successor codename is Ounce, or OZ for short. This would fit.
Hope it’s still backwards compatible. They can have back compat while also selling enhanced versions like Sony does
It will be. The BotW remaster is simply part of the Zelda remaster tradition.
I think ita already established that Square-Enix will continue to support Nintendo, especially with established franchises like the Bravely Default series.
Who knows, we could see Xenogears returning in some capacity.
This goes in hand with what I think it will be done for backwards compatibility.
In short, there would be a translation layer that half-emulates the Switch (pretty much Yuzu's NCE) made by Nvidia, and it will be highly compatible with most if not all Switch games (I'll call this "Legacy Mode"); however, it will not unlock the full potential of the Switch 2 and any enhancements we would see from this Legacy Mode will be minimal.
However, if you're a digital owner, you can get Switch 2 ports of some of the games you bought and run them natively (this is what Nintendo meant when they said they'd use the Nintendo Account for a seamless jump between generations): this means an optimized battery life, increased resolution, better framerate, or all of the above. If these upgrades are "free" or have an upgrade fee depends on the publisher; in case of Nintendo, I think $70 games (Tears of the Kingdom and, probably, Metroid Prime 4) can be upgraded for free, but $60 games would either need a $10 upgrade fee or bundled with the DLC of said game.
In the case of Breath of the Wild, I think an upgraded edition will be released at launch for $70, which includes the optimized port + the expansion pass; if you already purchased the expansion pass, you'll get the upgraded port for free. If you bought just the base game, you'll need to just purchase the expansion to get the upgraded port. These upgrade fees might also probably be bundled with Switch Online, so you have no need to worry about not running the best version of your game if you stay subscribed; basically it's a subscription-based Smart Delivery. Personally I'm not a fan but I think it's how they'll both add value to their old games and their subscription service.
Honestly this is the most logical way to look at all this
I welcome the breath of the wild jump 2 the new system. However, that game defined the switch. It’s time for other games to have the spot light. For me, I would be interested in a port only if there were some kind of significant content added they can do a mini age of calamity thing similar to tears of the kingdom. Where a battle takes place among a large space and there are a bunch of skirmishes that you have to hop between to keep the hylians winning.
They touched on this in tears with some side quest
These 2 games are so vastly different from other Zelda games that a remaster after some years or even a system or 2 could yield a “coming”. Just because the game still has a pulse does not mean it’s ready for another round. Please remember it has spanned 2 consoles already
I love Zelda, so if the game has more to offer like a smooth 60 fps then I’m in.
Tbh, U-King-O sounds like TOTK but for the next nintendo console
Totk could definitely be ported
If the switch 2 is powerful, could we see the FF7RE trilogy on it. On the other hand i would like to see a new Nier game specifically for the switch, Bravely Default 3 or Triangle Strategy 2 or heck there been rumor about a new FF tactics game so maybe thats it. Or Nintendo could just acquire Square.
I mean, without taking into consideration the exclusivity contract between Square-Enix and Sony, I can only see Final Fantasy VII Remake being the next Switch, seeing how the leaks are saying the console is at least a bit more powerful than a PS4 Pro, with Rebirth and Part 3 things are going to be a bit more complicated, not to mention that both Remake and Rebirth came in two high capacity Blu-Ray discs, I don't know if S-E will manage to compress the game files, if the next Switch game cards will have a lot more capacity or if the game will require an additional download
I cant wait to play botw on Nintendo Switch U.
If we are getting the Breath of the Wild on switch 2 than it will be a bundle/combo with tears of the kingdom
It feels like the gamexplain videos milking Nintendo NX rumors were just yesterday. Can't believe we've already gone full circle.
If there's really going to be an enhanced version of breath of the wild, then tears of the Kingdom may come soon after.
There's a rumor that the O stands for orangutan. It will be orange and feature a Lanky Kong game at launch.
Not buying BotW again lol.
I'm just really hoping that with the switch of successor we finally have cross-compatibility with other consoles it would be to have it not be available on the base switch.
But if this successor is as powerful and can I only hope we can have games where we can play with other consoles as well as PC
Was there any doubt that Square Enix would make software for the next Switch? Dragon Quest XII would probably have to release there due to likely arrival time alone. We don't know how powerful the next Switch will be, but Square Enix would have to have to be crazy to not have something for it. And as for an enhanced version of Breath of the Wild, it's reasonable to assume there will be a patch for many Switch titles as well as select titles getting a new print run.
Nintendo switch 2 I hope is a success
Why botw? It'd make more sense to upscale totk since it's the game with dramatically higher quality of life improvements?
The O stands for Switcheroo, calling it here and now
I'm not buying BOTW all over again, especially when (A) TOTK had the same overworld and (B) the Switch 2 will likely be backwards compatible
XENOGEARS REMAKE. THAT 'S IT!
So codename "Oz" is more beliviable
Yup, because we’ll disaapointed when we actually see it
There are so many rumors yet, so little confirmed
To other commenters, keep in mind that the “O” doesn’t mean the next console will be something that starts with O. The 3DS ports have “C” at the end of them, which isn’t in the name at all.
If Square Enix is working games with Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch 2, I really hope to see Kingdom Hearts 3 and defienitily the Upcoming Kingdom Hearts 4 are coming to the Nintendo Switch 2, that would be so awesome!!! 😮❤
Does anyone know the codenames for PMTTYD original and remake versions, respectively?
Zelda BOTW and TOKT should not be sold separately as enhanced, but the switch 2 should natively support the "enhanced" version. I will condemn nintendo for doing otherwise, and will not be re-buying either of those games.
Tears of Kingdom the?😂
Square Enix x Zelda: Hyrule Fantasy
I'd do so many crimes for a Zelda equivalent of Mario RPG...
@@TheWorstPartyMember”Ganondorf has joined the party!”
Why does BotW need an enhanced version? We already have ToK lol.
Just like Xenoblade X Wii U data packs to make the game better they need to do the same with Switch 2 so that they can continue to sell the base games from OG Switch while we wait for real sequels to the ips.
I would love yo see Xenoblade 2 in 1080p or 1440p assets & many more.
Octopath Traveler 3DS port let’s go!
Xenogears Remake!!!! 😭
Could they be working on the CHRONO series?
Possible remakes, re released and spin offs what specials.
I feel like BotW enhanced is just a tech demo thing, there'd be no reason to do anything with BotW when TotK exists.
Kingdom Hearts IV
Dragon Quest 12
Visions of Mana (port)
Final Fantasy VII (Ports)
Final Fantasy XVI (Port)
Forspoken (Port)
Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake
Boom!
We’re sick of ports, go for new stuff. If they make the new switch backwards compatible it won’t matter.
I know, I'd love to see some games from third-parties that take advantage of Nintendo's next console hardware, but game development has become very complicated in the last 10 or so years and I imagine that many developers wished to release some of their game on the regular Switch to take advantage of its huge userbase, but due to its hardware limitations it'd be impossible. So I'm guessing most third-party developers are hoping the next Switch will be a complete success and already have ports of current and previous gen games made to release to the console and are hoping that some gamer are willing to double dip or that are Nintendo-only gamers that perhaps will buy them for the first time
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild receiving an enhanced version on Nintendo's next gaming system possibly? If that ends up being true, I wonder if the enhanced/deluxe version could include anything from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (like some of the new gear armor introduced in that game) 🤔.
Yeah maybe a 5th divine beast (or 6th if you count the master cycle zero) and maybe going into the yiga clan hideout chasm and birida lookout chasm before the upheaval of tears of the kingdom. We also need a totk DX remaster for the switch 2 as well with master mode, trial of the sword, sage’s ballad, and one more temple
@@jockson7574 Hmm. Well I guess we'll see whenever Nintendo might announce anything about this. Although, a remaster of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom feels a little too soon because of how new it still kinda is, despite that game had it's 1 year anniversary yesterday.
@@davidstumpf3577 yeah I don’t expect TOTK to rerelease on the switch 2 until 2025 or 2026
Maybe THAT’S how Breath can become a real Zelda game again!
@@jockson7574 That feels a little too soon. They probably might want at least a 5 year gap or so from when the original version was first released before they feel ready to possibly make a remaster of Tears of the Kingdom.
The only Square Enix games I'm looking forward to are Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D and the final FF7R game. The former will probably come to a Nintendo console but the latter will probably just be PS5 and eventually PC.
I'm not going to buy another Switch for myself until the Switch 2 comes out.
I'm pretty sure it says "Nintendo platforms" because Nintendo's consoles have actual names and Xbox and Playstation consoles are just "the new Xbox or Playstation". And of course they're going to bring their games to the Switch's successor. We only have this year for the Switch left.
Exactly what I was thinking.
So Dragon Quest 12 might be on there? Sweet. 😂
I feel like going back to botw after playing totk just wouldn’t hit the same really:( totk really just improved it so much unless they are making some good changes idk why we would need a port so soon
We already got Breath of the Wild enhanced. 😉
A BotW port is weird if the console is supposed to be Backwards Compatible (which previous investor calls have implied.)
I get that but look at twilight princess and wind waker. You could play 2-3 versions of the games on a single console
Maybe Square Enix can get the Kingdom Hearts games running natively on Switch 2?
I used to like Square Enix games on the switch and maybe the Switch successor.

There is a rumor that I care about all the rumors
The timing tells us that the new Final Fantasys are coming to Switch Too

@wheatbread2944 At least they're less buggy than the recent Xbox 1st Party games... Contractor hopping is proving to be a terrible strategy.
Seriously, that's all I have to say about the Playstation 5 1st Party titles. All except one game is too hyper focused on Cinematics and Social Justice. Gran Turismo 7 is the only exception.
We had better get a new open world, 3D Zelda game for the switch's successor. I would want a third one featuring the same link from the prior two games set in the lands beyond Hyrule. I would also want it to bring back the depths, include insane enemy variety, and have ganondorf from the previous game return as a ghost and be its main villain. I would also want it to be called The legend of Zelda Song of the Ages.
I am not buying botw a third time
Let's hope Square is actually cooking up some good games for Switch 2 because everything from them other than Mario RPG Remake and FF7 Rebirth has been straight TRASH.
The BotW remaster probably would start development early so that they can redo every single texture and possibly rework the physics to work better at 60 fps. It's obviously going to come out in 2027 like the previous Zelda remasters.
