This is a very fair criticism. It worked out for this video to show some of the back end workings of the boot industry but I think moving forward we will buy a pair independently as well to double check everything. Not that Thursday intentionally sent us a flawed boot 😂but you get the point.
@@RoseAnvilagreed man you need to do this to actually be impartial. Thursday could easily send you some built up perfect boot for review and likely did. There are so ma y Reddit posts of these boots just falling apart or being unwearable inside a year and their qc in the last while has tanked too. They market incredibly wel that’s the only thing I’ve seen from them, and I see them as basically no different than soemthing like a timberland at this point.
It’s concerning you were going to cancel the video because the initial product sucked and wasn’t what they claim. That’s the info we need to know. Do not hide the terrible things from a company just because it’s sponsored. They need to be put on blast if they’re screwing people. Obviously Thursday isn’t doing that I love Thursday.
@@chanchaiken5522 If you're going to honestly review products, don't accept contracts that legally require you to make favourable videos. Of course, creators can do what they want, but that kind of behaviour hurts their reputation as a review channel.
@@chanchaiken5522I doubt he signed an NDA. He probably did sign a contract, but if he wasn't planning on making the video anyways he could always pull out of the contract and make an unsponsored video instead.
He stated in the video that he rushed them by saying he needed it next day. If he would have let them do their quality checks they probably would've found the bad batch. I doubt hardly any of the bad batch are being sent out because they are quality checking them before shipping. I don't know if any are getting through or not but that would be a good reason why he got a bad pair.
This has historically been one of my favorite channels but I’ve recently noticed an uptick in “check out why XYZ Boots are killing it” videos sponsored by XYZ Boots. Personally, it makes me more skeptical of what you have to say whereas in the past, I never questioned any of your opinions.
Same here. Pretty sure he has some stock in Thursday boots and down plays other brands purposely. All of a sudden he's ok with the synthetic materials, like counter and man made soles? He goes hard on better made brands that use good materials. Plus some of these comments here look like the CEO of Thursday wrote them. What's up with that?
A sample sent directly from the company itself, whether also paying for the video or not, is ALWAYS dubious. If you truly wanted to do it right, you'd buy your samples off the shelf like all other non "influencers". But hey, we all have to make a living.
He's definitely happy selling his credibility to this company to let them push their own PR narrative under the false impression this is a product review. The only logical conclusion to make here is that they forgot to send out the influencer review boot the first time, and that first boot is the product they're actually selling to everybody.
The language and tone you're using in this video is so different than almost all of your other videos. I hope the check is real big. I have no issue at all with getting paid for work especially in making RUclips videos which doesn't pay much, but this is egregious.
Like it's actually insane the hoops you jumped through to explain "so what happened". That they had a manufacturer rip them off, then somehow those boots were isolated to be destroyed, and when they were selecting a pair to send to you that they KNEW you'd cut in half, they accidentally selected a reject and sent it to you? Be so for real.
Couple of questions 1 why would you cancel the video if the new boot was like the old one aren’t you supposed to give us the truth and 2 did Thursday recall the crappy boots back or they are just letting the customer take it on the chin
The obvious question is: how could a customer feel like what they’re ordering is what they expect if there are still boots being shipped out that are lower in quality?
As far as I understand it was a small sample batch that they caught the issue on. But one fool proof way to tell is to feel your midsole. I’d be curious if any made it through QC as well. Let me know.
@@RoseAnvil I ordered a pair of Captain Stormking's over a week ago, hoping I get what I expected. I'll feel the midsole and if there's anything unexpected I'll let you know
Remember when poron and latex foam in a boot weren't signs it's high quality, you said it would collapse and harden over time getting rid of all initial comfort, pepridge farm remembers.
That’s a good idea. Maybe to double check myself we will order a few under a different name and address. But as far as I understand it was a small sample batch. Fortunately you can check for yourself and if you do have the issue I’d reach out to Thursday about it. And also please let me know and send me pics!
I too think that it would be a fairer assessment if some were bought anonymously a year later. Just like press cars/products are usually put together better than the general production run.
At this point would you even trust him to tell the truth about the order not being shipped direct? At this point it feels like if his findings made his sponsor look bad, he just wouldnt make a video about it. Its already an issue that all of his boots are sent for free from the companies he reviews. I dont see how anyone can trust that when they purchase a boot from Thursday, they would get the influencer quality item we see here and not the regular production item they accidentally sent to him. Only way you would be able to trust any of his reviews would be if he went back to buying the boots himself like when his channel was smaller.
The over marketing and so many ads is kind of a turn off for me. It's like they are forcing it on me. I hardly saw any Viberg ads and I really wish I had found out about em sooner cause I prefer the fit and quality over other brands. I have tried Thursday boots several times and they just aren't for me. Now the sneakers, I do like from them.
@desireandfire i gave up on their boots. Truman, Redwing, Nicks, White's, Wesco to name some others although a bit more expensive but the fits are better imo. For a bit more money you can get a better boot.
For the women out there, most of the Thursday women's boots are NOT good year welted but glued. Thats why theyre generally cheaper than the mens line of boots. I bought two pairs before realizing the difference. I do still think the prices are reasonable though
That sucks. Why do women never get the same level of quality as men's clothing/accessories, even when we go out of our way to purchase a higher quality product? The whole point was to be able to wear and repair them for years on end.
@@maryam.m I was astonished when I was in college and my then gf would keep on having shoes fall apart on dates, often first time she wore them out. I experienced similar when I started doing drag as part of some light freshman hazing (don't knock it until you try it, the drag that is)- of course it didn't help that my feet were way too big but heels just fell apart with ease as did lots of the clothes we used. Quality clothing is hard to come by but especially women's clothing.
@@maryam.m Men typically just get one or two pairs of shoes/boots and keep wearing them over and over until they fall apart. Women follow styles and trends and like to have options and buy a lot more, so the quality is less important since they won't be used as hard. Obviously this isn't true for everyone, but in general it holds up.
I bought a pair of Thursday Majors and the side zipper broke the first time I tried them on. They didn't offer to expedite a replacement pair or anything. I mentioned my experience on a review left on their website and they deleted my review. I hope the quality has improved but I think it's really shady to remove negative comments.
Wow. This is unnerving to discover. Thank you for letting the world know. Unfortunate to see business practices like this. I have a pair incoming and I certainly hope my experience is different. Did you ever get this resolved?
@@Mavryck_Tha_Myghty Although they didn't post my review, I still think Thursday is a decent business and more than likely I just got a faulty pair. The new Majors have a "long lasting Rubi zipper" and this could very well be an improvement over the Majors that I received a few years ago. Thursday was quick to respond to my message regarding the broken zipper and offered to either cover the cost to have a local cobbler fix it or they were willing to exchange my pair and cover all the shipping. The only thing they asked for was a photo of the broken part and another of the quality assurance card that was in the box.
@@Mavryck_Tha_Myghty The Release Notes on the Majors say that in April 2023 they "Changed zipper to a new supplier with better lab results and longer zipper life guarantee" so this would have improved on the issue that I encountered on my pair from a few years prior to the upgrade..
Bought Thursday boots a few years ago. Still holding up great. But I had an eyelet with a burr that started chewing the lace up immediately. They asked for a picture of the problem, and a picture of the QC inspection card. After that they shipped me a new pair and told me to send the old one to a cobbler or donate it. Great customer service!
I mean, that's certainly what they told you. This channel is about cutting boots in half to see how they're actually made and what they're actually made with, totally bypassing all the marketing BS that brands come up with to describe their products and actually showing it to us. We know from so many of your videos that brands lie through their teeth all the time - why should this be any different? Because they told you this convoluted story about some boots being not up to par and huge numbers being rejected? Seems extremely shady to me, especially since they KNEW they were sending a pair out to a RUclips influencer who pushes a lot of weight around with almost a million subscribers. "I thought for sure we'd have to cancel this video." Why, because the boot they sent you wasn't what they claimed it was?
Owning every part of the logistic and supply chain is a great way to ensure quality, supply and cost. If something goes wrong in one step, it affects the rest of it. Its good they invested in their own factory.
13:07. Whoa! Amazing story telling. Because of real man real style and your video. Back in late 2017. I got my first pair of boots. Still holds up till today. Would like a new pair this coming thanks giving sale. Keep making these videos! It's a relief knowing I am a proud owner of this kind of Legacy. ❤
Man i really like thursday. Excellent quality for the price. Just awesome. I wear my matte black captains most everyday. I will be buying more boots and plan on getting one of their leather jackets very soon.
I love my Arizona Captains. I also have a pair of their low top sneakers which I like, aside from the very long laces, and the Roadster leather jacket. I just ordered a pair of grey Cavaliers, a pair of high top sneakers, the khaki waxed canvas jacket, and the Racer leather jacket in black. I also got 4 pairs of their boots socks. Can’t wait for them to come in the mail. Thursday was my introduction into the world of high quality leather goods. I’ll prob stick with them for a while before upgrading to the next tier
Thursday has their issues but if you are looking at other $150-200 boots they are definitely on top. This is even the case with the older version that was sent accidentally. I’d take Thursday any day over timberland or docs in terms of quality. There are a few very small brands (like Blkbrd) that I would consider to be superior though. I find it hard to justify Thursdays when you have Red Wing for not too much more. Let’s also not forget Grant Stone B Grades for $180-250 that are a fantastic bargain. Grant stone boots are leagues above Thursday. Thursdays leather just doesn’t feel as premium as the other brands I mentioned. I have Terracotta captains and MitUSA Waxed Cacao loggers that I’m basing this off of. They also have issues with their rubber soles deteriorating quickly. That leads to the philosophical question of whether it’s worth spending $120-$150 for a resole on a pair of $200 boots that you’ve had for a year. Lastly, here’s my obligatory opinion that you should stop doing sponsored videos about products that said sponsors make. You might try to make it sound unbiased, but when they’re providing points for you to talk about and sending you a specific pair to review (versus if you’d ordered anonymously), this video can be described as sketchy at best. The vast majority of us will receive imperfect boots or boots with cut corners because we aren’t influencers who are reviewing the product. Cheers. It was the same with a video you did recently of Grant Stone (?) that was sponsored by GS. I love the boots and agreed with most of your points, but even then it felt so scripted and it seemed like you had some kind of obligation to give them a gleaming review.
I want to like Thursday, but they're just too damned narrow for me, even on their wider sizings. I've tried two pair of boots and one pair of sneakers and all three felt like I was putting my feet in a vise. Quality and style-wise, the boots weren't really much to write home about, but it was a shame cuz I really dug the look of the sneakers. Having wide feet sucks!!!!
I bought two Thursday boots, plain toe and Diplomat. I liked the price point. I learned to appreciate the materials and craftsmanship. But neither last fit me. These days I'm willing to spend a little more on a good boot. But I'm grateful for Thursday's introduction to the hobby.
What changed for you? I have had my Captain's since 2017 and I wear them roughly 2-3 days a week for this entire time. So, I am curious the failures you had.
@@Tense I didn't have failures, or not in the sense of something falling apart. Despite some five months of regular wear (alternating between another pair or two), my first pair, Presidents, HURT. They pushed in my big toe. They were just a little loose in the heel. Even though I have a narrow instep, they hurt my instep, too. Didn't make any difference what socks I wore, or time of day. There are two kinds of boots: the kind you can't wait to take off your feet, and the kind you don't want to. I couldn't wait to get out of them. They were no fun to walk in, which was what I wanted them for. I tried the Diplomat at a half size up. Same problems. So I finally gave them both to my son. I don't blame Thursday. Nobody can build a last that fits everybody. But as I understood the shape of my foot better, I also learned that there are boots with better materials and craftsmanship, too. No regrets.
Oops, we sent that RUclipsr a consumer boot, instead of from that specialty run we send to reviewers...... I'm sorry, I don't trust Thursday I think they sell overpriced junk to hipsters.
I'm glad to hear they're making them a touch wider. I have a pair of Thursdays and after a long day my pinkie toe is aching. Granted I'm normally a flip flop person so maybe I should be looking into the barefoot boots lol. I just hope this means they'll also improve their women's boots. From the looks of it, most of their styles are still cemented construction.
I haven't been able to buy Thursday Boots at this point as I need wide (width E) footwear and they don't have them yet, and sizing up means that it is almost always loose at the heels. Also being overseas means that I have to pay for returns, which can be significant since boots aren't the lightest... If you do have genuinely wide feet, then there are brands that are a bit more expensive (made in the US or UK etc) that make wider shoes and boots. Hopefully Thursday Boots will add the wider size shortly.
@@jt1559Thursday boots force my toes into a very tiny toe box. It's unnatural for our feet. I don't understand why companies can't just make a normal spread out toe box.
I know it’s not really what this channel is focused on, but I’ve actually been thinking about getting a coat from Thursday’s thanks to Facebook advertising algorithm figuring me out and would watch a review of what you think about them.
Got a pair of Desperado's from them. Had an issue with the edge of the rubber sole. They sent me a brand new pair. I can't tell you how many miles I've walked or hours I've spent in these boots over the last year because I wear them non-stop. I don't even feel I have to take them off when I'm back in my room relaxing. Love 'em! I'll buy 'em all over again and their customer service was better than expected!!! Gonna look into their offerings for something "outdoorsy" for hiking and just walking the parks.
Wolverine was on the right track with BLVD. They could have took down Thursday but blew it. The lasts were prefect but leathers were uninspiring. Supposedly no cork and shank either. I have a couple BLVDs and they still feel more sturdy than Thursday.
I have never owned a pair and probably never will. Two different people at work tried them out. The first coworker’s soles separated in less than 6 weeks, totally unacceptable, they did send him a replacement pair that seems to be holding up well. The second coworker ordered a pair of boots and a belt. The boots had a speed lace rivet pop out in the first week. The belt appears to have been two pieces of leather and they split down the middle within the first month as well. Based on these examples I’ll stick to my Iron Rangers and 1000 mile’s, they may cost a bit more, but at least they will hold up…. Thursday’s seem to be a crap shoot, some are decent, others are just junk like they are coming from two drastically different factories…. It also begs the question: what did Thursday’s management team expect when they went to Mexico for production and found cut rate factories willing to manufacture “250,000 worth of boots for a 40,000 deposit”? It’s not like overhead gets magically paid and labor works for free, the factory cut corners and skimped on production costs where they thought no one would notice. Another point here is that the whole point of QC is to prevent “escapes” in the production process, not allowing substandard products to even see the light of day, let alone into a reviewer’s hands. I’d say their QC department is focused on reactive approaches after the substandard products have made it to the customer rather than proactively policing. For the record I’ve been in statistical process control and QC for 10 years, this would have gotten me fired…..
My answer: They're slim, modern, priced competitively, enough underfoot cushion while not sacrificing significant durability, and uses above average leather.
You saying “I was worried I would have to cancel the video” after the initial boot was not good is VERY concerning and takes all credibility away from my point of view. As a reviewer you NEED to be willing to show the good with the bad, and blatantly saying you would not have done that is quite concerning. I hope in the future you are willing to post reviews with constructive criticism as it gains our trust as viewers.
I've been looking at Thursday Boots quite a bit. As far as I can tell, they're unusually honest and forthright in what they're doing. It's a message of fairness and high value and honesty in manufacturing-- something desperately needed today in our age of hype and trickery.
@javiervega1065 If you need attention, find an old woman in your neighborhood who needs her porch swept. Go right up to her and tell her you want to help. Then sweep her porch. That is healthy attention-seeking, see? Instead of healthy attention-seeking, you, like millions of lost Americans, *act* *out* on social media. I understand it. It will *never* *work* for you. Do good things for others, if you want a good life.
I have the Matte Black captain, 2 low tops, boat shoes and I just ordered the vanguard and they are all comfortable and holding up nice. Your channel is the reason I found them. Thank you.
Keep me posted about the vanguard. I really like the look of the brown waxed flesh Horween leather one. I think cocoa? They have a sneak in that too. I'd like a pair high-tops in that leather.
In 1 year I got 3 different pairs. The Stompers, Presidents, and Hightop sneakers. Although I love them each of them did some with small different problems. The Stompers have a smooth heel counter so quite a bit of heel slip. The President had the tongue slide way off to the side and I had to get slits made to hold them in place. The Hightop also had the tongue slide all the way to the side even though it already had lace loops to hold them in place. On Reddit, quality control also seems to be an issue as many customers report other similar slight issues such as a toecap being titled, the color of one being different from the other, and general oddities. No deal breakers but still something to think about. Especially for anyone who's ordering from outside the US because although they do free returns you will have to pay to ship them back to the company and depending on where you live you might be paying as much as 25% of your purchase on the exchange alone.
I wouldn't say they're influential around the world. They're only relevant in north america. Import tax and shipping add approx. 100$ on the price, which means they're no longer competitively priced. I'm hoping they expand around the world at some point.
This ^ in Australia it’s not much more to just get a pair of R.M Williams with everything you just stated. Plus in Australia the exchange rate with the usd is also terrible, only adding more to the cost.
@@the_33rd I disagree. I'm in Perth and I've bought 2 Thursdays (1 diplomat and 1 MitUSA vanguard) in the past 4 months. Even the Vanguard was $150 cheaper than the cheapest RMW available. They're by no means cheap (Jim Greens was cheaper), but they're still very competitively priced for the quality.
@@pMattpful In Finland I got myself an iron ranger for about 70 eur more. There's also meermin, bobbies which are priced even lower than Thursday's. I guess in Australia you should be able to get Indonesian hand crafted boots for around the same price with shipping?
@@pMattpful id rather spend $150 extra for an Australian built boot thats far easier to return if issues arise than an imported boot thats notoriously known to be narrow.
I still like my Galibier Super Rando! They were a pain to break in and the Khumbu soles are still going strong. Old fashioned thick leather, the best old school hiking boots money can buy. Now they’re finally comfortable. 😊
Like many folks, Thursdays were my introduction to stitched boots. Since getting my first Captains, I have branched out to Jim Greens, Beckett Simonons, and Wolverine Thousand Miles. My Thursday Captains are still my favorites. The Jim Greens are a close second, but my Captains are comfortable, versatile, stylish, and relatively durable. I now own three pairs of Captains and a pair of Presidents.
Thursday should make a traditional line that is leather everywhere they can, rubber only where needed, natural materials throughout (the laces can stay kevlar blended), shit ton of nails, careful attention to detail, and while staying hand made. I'd easily pay an extra $100 for that. Because if I bought Thursdays current boots, I'd probably send them to a cobbler sooner than needed so they can throw in that 15oz veg tan leather insole and replace the lasting board with leather. I want to only be standing on leather, cork, and glue, with a rubber outsole.
I will say I love this brand. I thought for sure I was a sucker for falling for some ads but they are some awesome boots. Got presidents and captains and I I wouldn’t mind getting a third pair. They’re great man
I still want to see a work version of the captain. Real toe cap and gusseted tongue would make this a great budget version of the Iron ranger. pricing them around 250 with those improvements would be an excellent value and hopefully would be able to be profitable enough to succeed.
Agreed, I'd love to see Thursday produce a true alternative to the IR. The Captain seems great for what it is, but I personally prefer the bulkier style of the IR.
I've been wearing Thursdays since 2018. I have an original first-run pair of their black Aviator wingtip dress shoes, which have held up better than any other dress shoe I've bought in the last ten years. I bought Captains in Brandy in 2019 and never looked back. I wore those boots so hard that I had to buy another pair, which I wore hard enough to tear the upper. Now on pair #3, and so far these have held up much better, albeit with less hard wear as a result of the next two purchases: StormKing Captains and Maverick western boots.. I bought the StormKing Captains in 2020 that have worn well externally despite some really tough conditions (totally soaked them in the rain several times, worked in them, etc). The Maverick western boots are my most recent purchase, and they're my favorite boots now.
If they had an option of a flatter sole, I’d go buy one now. I went "barefoot" for a while, and while I don’t buy minimalist shoes anymore, I still like an almost flat footbed. But I appreciate a company with this philosophy
I notice the footbed drop too and its taking some getting use to as my feet are not flat but have low arches. The easy way to correct this is to make them so the insole is removable which I'm hoping they eventually do
I wish they made a boot with a slightly bulkier profile. Say 15% more material. I know they design their boots to use the least leather, thereby saving us money. But they can make a premium line now and charge a bit more.
I own 9 pairs of Thursday boots over the last 5 years. While their boots used to be great for a stylish-enough look without the need to treat them like a newborn baby, their QA is godawful and has only gotten worse as the company has expanded. Their customer service is incredibly unprofessional, passive-aggressive, and rude. And, worst of all, if you get a factory defect and ask for an exchange (you know, because you paid for a brand new boot, not a factory defect with permanent paint marks, peeling leather, scuffs, incorrect lasts, literally being unfinished, and more), they send factory defects in exchange! They told me themselves. What company does that!? Nowadays, getting a boot without major cosmetic and/or functional defects is like spinning a wheel. I hope they get their QA under control because I used to give Thursday such high praise and was quick to recommend them, but now I recommend alternative brands because I can't ethically recommend someone a brand that sends as many defective products as they do non-defects. Also, the insoles on half my boots have fallen apart. It's a mess. They don't have the same quality they did years ago. As someone who actually buys my own boots and doesn't get them sent for free, I don't recommend Thursday Boots. Actually, this isn't an issue of QA. This is just how Thursday does business. Shady, slimey, and untrustworthy.
i bought my first pair of captains in early 2020, and bought another pair late 2022 and the latter fit SO much better. I thought it was just a slight difference since they are handmade, but the toebox is perfect for my foot now, my old ones squeeze my small toes a bit and make them raw after wearing them for awhile. they are both size 10.
I thankfully ordered my first pair of Thursdays (the scout) in March of 2018 to ware for work after seeing a RUclips video. I ordered on their promise of their comfortable outsole. I have knee and back pain issues and found their sole to be the most comfortable of anything I have ever worn in a shoe I can wear to work. Since that first pair I continue to purchase Thursday’s footwear. I suggest them to friends and strangers. I wish I could order their soles cause when they wear I end up throwing them out cause I have not found a comparable sole for replacing
Please do the Chippewa classic 2.0s. I had a pair that I loved right before they discontinued them. Glad they are bringing them back but let’s see inside!!!
I just got my fourth pair of Thursdays and they’re easily my favorite boots to wear, I have two Chelsea’s and two lace up and I couldn’t love them more. 10/10 recommend
Time to get myself a pair of Thursday boots. Yessss!!!!! Thank you for helping me decide on this line of boots Picolones boots are also a very nice boot but unfortunately it doesn't have any in my size which is ax7.5 it only comes in an eaigt which I bought a pair abd returned them the next day because they just looked tacky and way to big so I couldn't just invest on a pair of expensive boots that I'd be embarrassed to wear.Dang,,,I loved those boots.😢
Big fan of the channel and really appreciate what you do here. Looking through these comments though- it seems like it may be really prudent to get your hands another "regular consumer" pair of these and verify that they're as good as that second pair Thursday sent. If they're that good, they might well be the next shoe I invest in!
I have shoes and boots that are over $1K but there is still room in my collection for Thursday Boots. These are not work boots and they're not trying to be. They're like the anti-Red Wing since their overall design aesthetic is to be sleek and not have the bulbous toe. They're style focused so you need to go in with that mindset, otherwise look elsewhere. If you want a large rotation with a wide variety of styles, leathers, and colors that won't break the bank, Thursday is a really great option. I have EE wide feet but going up a half size works well for me in the styles where they only have one width. You just have to figure out your size. I started buying Thursday Boots 5 years ago and so far, I have 4 pairs of Captain, 1 Duke, 2 Scout, 2 Stompers, 2 Wing Tip, and 1 Logger. Yes, I have a problem.😃
Love Thursday boots! I have 3 pairs and boufht two of them secondhand (because even $200 for a boot is hard for me to afford) and theyre all great! I xpect them all to last years, not just 1 season like cheap boots
I love my Captains BUT the quality control issues are real. Mine came with the tongues all chewed up, loose threads everywhere and the leather was super dry. After less than a year of light use they need a cobbler for the separating heal. They are comfortable. With a little work burning the threads and conditioning the leather I have a nice pair of chromeexcel boots for 200 bucks. I have bought from them since and would again but probably only for the premium leathers. I also bought a pair of durbeys in waxed flesh. They have a minor imperfection in the welt. Purely cosmetic and not that noticeable.
yes, for casual usage I find them mostly acceptable for the price if you can find the right size in any given model. they have a whole bunch of models that I am sure are a waste of time.
Thursdays are great. I have Diplomats in black, and brown cocoa Vanguards (which have a Cuban heel). Both pairs are comfortable and look amazing. I don’t think they’ll be wearing out anytime soon either.
If I wanted these boots - how long should I wait to make sure they don't send me the crappy version? Sounds like 2000 got through QC, so maybe wait a while?
PLEASE Thursday make a boot with a thick leather insole instead of the foam! Id buy a whole Thursday collection if they moved to thick leather insoles.
How do you know if you are getting the new version of the boots, from the new factory? I’m sure there has to be leftover stock of the previous version.
One has to wonder what an average Joe gets, probably not the same as what they to people who they know are going to push their product. No way you try to spin it, it’s paid advertising.
I’ve had two pairs of their boots and both are showing signs of separation. i’ll wear em until they fall apart. so far Customer Support has been helpful
I kind of like the look of Thursday Boots' products, although I am an outlier when it comes to narrow boots because I prefer them. I may buy a pair one day but in the meantime, I plan on getting another pair of Grant Stone boots because, while they're more expensive, they are clearly a higher quality product, too. Thanks for the review!
@@CocoKoi321 I'm aware Thursday is using a new, wider last. I am saying I prefer the narrower version to the new version. You really need to read more carefully and stay off the all caps.
Unfortunately, I see Thursday prices going up 📈⬆ Great stuff, but anytime you see more ads and marketing, it means you the consumer are paying for that through higher prices Still a great value as of now
A huge advantage that Thursday has over GS, in my opinion is that they offer [more than one style of] women's boots. I know this isn't anything most boot-buyers care about but I (as a woman whose feet are not big enough to fit into most men's sizes) do!
What do you think about Thursday's women's boots? I've been thinking about getting my wife a pair of Coda's from there as a present but I can't find any real reviews of them outside of their own website (which I'm fairly certain they engage in some review "moderation" in the case of people not being happy with their boots).
#1 rule of a being a trusted reviewer is to buy your products off the shelf like the everyman consumer. To do otherwise risks special treatment.

I was also thinking that.
But wouldn't that go against the contract/nda they signed for the sponsor?
@@chanchaiken5522 If you're going to honestly review products, don't accept contracts that legally require you to make favourable videos. Of course, creators can do what they want, but that kind of behaviour hurts their reputation as a review channel.
@@chanchaiken5522I doubt he signed an NDA. He probably did sign a contract, but if he wasn't planning on making the video anyways he could always pull out of the contract and make an unsponsored video instead.
Well, companies don't pay you to do bad ads, do they?
What’s preventing someone from getting the poor pair that you were first sent?
nothing they will say whoops my bad
He stated in the video that he rushed them by saying he needed it next day. If he would have let them do their quality checks they probably would've found the bad batch. I doubt hardly any of the bad batch are being sent out because they are quality checking them before shipping. I don't know if any are getting through or not but that would be a good reason why he got a bad pair.
@@stephenbennett5240why didn’t they just give him a regular shoe that was previously made with all the typical QC checks?
@@mynameisben123 idk, all companies make mistakes
I thought they were supposed to channel the outsole on the new boots?
Yeah, very unfortunate. Rose Anvil should take a page from Project Farm. He never accepts sponsors and buys all of the tools he review.
Gotta pay for his new porsche/house/etc somehow
Yeah, I unsubbed when he started doing that. I was one of his first subscribers, too.
A sample sent directly from the company itself, whether also paying for the video or not, is ALWAYS dubious. If you truly wanted to do it right, you'd buy your samples off the shelf like all other non "influencers". But hey, we all have to make a living.
It just seems like a paid commercial, so not really any informational value. It's like the cheap earbuds influencers are paid to promote....
It’s funny how he’s more harsh with the companies that aren’t sponsoring him
I have to wonder if any reviews are real, or based on sponsorship $...@@MikeJames.
THIS
He's definitely happy selling his credibility to this company to let them push their own PR narrative under the false impression this is a product review.
I'll feel the midsole and if there's anything unexpected I'll let you know
If anyone does have that issue please send me pics on instagram @rose_anvil and let me know how Thursday responds.
Are there any batch numbers or identifying sku’s that we should use to confirm correct quality?
I cut my new boots in half and I'm happy to report they're the newer design with upgraded materials. @@RoseAnvil
Remember when poron and latex foam in a boot weren't signs it's high quality, you said it would collapse and harden over time getting rid of all initial comfort, pepridge farm remembers.
Pepridge farm never forgets
Thats sounds really sketchy, I'd like to see a secret order later and see what the boot looks like.
How could I check for myself without cutting the boot in half?@@RoseAnvil
At this point would you even trust him to tell the truth about the order not being shipped direct? At this point it feels like if his findings made his sponsor look bad, he just wouldnt make a video about it. Its already an issue that all of his boots are sent for free from the companies he reviews. I dont see how anyone can trust that when they purchase a boot from Thursday, they would get the influencer quality item we see here and not the regular production item they accidentally sent to him. Only way you would be able to trust any of his reviews would be if he went back to buying the boots himself like when his channel was smaller.
Thursday is probably the most advertised boot on the planet, don't particularly understand what is “quiet” about it.
Yeah, have I ever seen a Red Wing ad? Trying to remember...
@@liljuanito123I bought some Thursday boots and didn't realize how tiny the toe box is, and that it stains my socks
@desireandfire i gave up on their boots. Truman, Redwing, Nicks, White's, Wesco to name some others although a bit more expensive but the fits are better imo. For a bit more money you can get a better boot.
I think that the boots are ugly.
You gotta Keith Lee these companies. Go order the pair online without them knowing. Bet they send the "junk" pair 10/10 times.
For the women out there, most of the Thursday women's boots are NOT good year welted but glued. Thats why theyre generally cheaper than the mens line of boots. I bought two pairs before realizing the difference. I do still think the prices are reasonable though
The Captain in the "Rugged and Resilient" line is goodyear welted but I don't think anything other than those few boots are.
Fake
The best review channels usually buy their own samples to test then do a give away of the free provided samples.
I bought a pair of Thursday Majors and the side zipper broke the first time I tried them on. They didn't offer to expedite a replacement pair or anything. I mentioned my experience on a review left on their website and they deleted my review. I hope the quality has improved but I think it's really shady to remove negative comments.
it's a company ran by two beta boys what do you expect?
They delete all negative reviews. They also spam your email begging for positive reviews.

13:07. Whoa! Amazing story telling. Because of real man real style and your video. Back in late 2017. I got my first pair of boots. Still holds up till today. Would like a new pair this coming thanks giving sale.
Keep making these videos! It's a relief knowing I am a proud owner of this kind of Legacy. ❤
I've wanted a pair of these all year. Love my loggers.
Does this call into question any boot cut in half where the internals aren't what is expected? How do consumers know who to blame?
Love Thursdays, love Rose Anvil channel.
Have you tried looking into Jim Green if you can use a more workwear look? Their last is awesome

Nice to hear the kudos for a quality built boot.. credit where credit is due.
No regrets.
@@JamieLaRue Thank you for the input.

Oops, we sent that RUclipsr a consumer boot, instead of from that specialty run we send to reviewers...... I'm sorry, I don't trust Thursday I think they sell overpriced junk to hipsters.
I absolutely love my Thursday Captains. So much so after purchasing my first pair the next week I got another pair. Comfortable straight out the box.
Whatever you do don't get barefoot boots bro just get a wider one
I haven't been able to buy Thursday Boots at this point as I need wide (width E) footwear and they don't have them yet, and sizing up means that it is almost always loose at the heels. Also being overseas means that I have to pay for returns, which can be significant since boots aren't the lightest...
If you do have genuinely wide feet, then there are brands that are a bit more expensive (made in the US or UK etc) that make wider shoes and boots. Hopefully Thursday Boots will add the wider size shortly.
@@jt1559 same issues, l wish I can buy more boots from them. But their boots are just a little bit too long and too narrow

Got my Jasper Captains on right now. I love them. ☺
Thanks Rose Anvil. Thursday is good
I’ve had a pair for going on six years now and have held up amazingly.
This is my first full day wearing a brand new pair of Vanguards. So far, so good! Thanks for the recommendation over several previous videos.
I've been looking at Thursday Boots quite a bit. As far as I can tell, they're unusually honest and forthright in what they're doing. It's a message of fairness and high value and honesty in manufacturing-- something desperately needed today in our age of hype and trickery.

Keep me posted about the vanguard. I really like the look of the brown waxed flesh Horween leather one. I think cocoa? They have a sneak in that too. I'd like a pair high-tops in that leather.
It’s comfortable and easy to clean and condition. I’d recommend.
Just ordered my first pair. Shadow Grey Cavaliers. I'm a fan
I’ve had my cCaptains for 3 years and they still going strong and look great!
I have a pair of the captain storm kings. They’ve been a good boot for a few years now
I wouldn't say they're influential around the world.
I now own three pairs of Captains and a pair of Presidents.
except no one cares
It took me way too long to realize this channel is actually advertising for boots who are sponsoring you
Thursday should make a traditional line that is leather everywhere they can, rubber only where needed, natural materials throughout (the laces can stay kevlar blended), shit ton of nails, careful attention to detail, and while staying hand made.
That would be great to see
agree.
Definitely
Agreed, I'd love to see Thursday produce a true alternative to the IR. The Captain seems great for what it is, but I personally prefer the bulkier style of the IR.
Brought to you by Thursday Boot Company
I found out Thursday's from your channel! Thank you for exposing to good quality leather goods
Very interesting. I always wanted to buy a Thursday Boot.
Not sure I like this sponsor tbh.
Just what RUclips needed. Another Thursday boots video.
The easy way to correct this is to make them so the insole is removable which I'm hoping they eventually do
I have a pair of President and Diplomats I picked up last year, and just ordered Cadets a few weeks ago. Love them all!
I’ve been wearing my captains everyday since june. Daily wear, Easy hiking, golfing and so on. I’m very pleased with the quality.
G-golfing?
I wish they made a boot with a slightly bulkier profile. Say 15% more material. I know they design their boots to use the least leather, thereby saving us money. But they can make a premium line now and charge a bit more.
They do, loggers and diplomats come to mind
This is a sponsored ad. Not a review.
Just purchased women’s Captain with confidence after seeing your video.
I found out about Thursday's boots from here a couple of years ago. I now have two boots from them. I personally like them a lot.
i bought my first pair of captains in early 2020, and bought another pair late 2022 and the latter fit SO much better.

Thanks for another great video.
I really like its design. Probably because it reminds me of my Red Wing Iron Rangers so much.
Awesome boots, brilliant video 🇬🇧🏴👍
I have two pair of Thursday’s Captains and Dukes. They are great. There is no better value for the money!
I’ll add to this, their advertising is not honest. If you wore these into the wilderness they would fall apart.
Thursdays are great. I have Diplomats in black, and brown cocoa Vanguards (which have a Cuban heel). Both pairs are comfortable and look amazing. I don’t think they’ll be wearing out anytime soon either.
Love my Thursdays.
I love my Thursdays, great boot at a great price
Yeah, but they're still mostly OK for the price point for fashion boots, I guess.
Thursday is probably the new Doc
I’ve had two pairs of their boots and both are showing signs of separation. i’ll wear em until they fall apart. so far Customer Support has been helpful
how are they any better than baobab from Jim green?
Good question
Arch support or shank? Jim Green is meant for sandy terrain primarily?
I've had these for 3 years. I don't wear them often but they've held up well. My laces did fray after less than 10 wears though.
I love my Thursday boots, I do wish however that they had a roomier toe box.
been waiting for this one
I kind of like the look of Thursday Boots' products, although I am an outlier when it comes to narrow boots because I prefer them. I may buy a pair one day but in the meantime, I plan on getting another pair of Grant Stone boots because, while they're more expensive, they are clearly a higher quality product, too. Thanks for the review!
THEY RELEASED THEIR NEW LAST LOOK IT UP
@@CocoKoi321 I'm aware Thursday is using a new, wider last. I am saying I prefer the narrower version to the new version. You really need to read more carefully and stay off the all caps.
To be fair they make a great boot for the price. Especially the made in America one.
Petition to independently review Thursday boots every few months ✋
Unfortunately, I see Thursday prices going up 📈⬆
Great stuff, but anytime you see more ads and marketing, it means you the consumer are paying for that through higher prices
Still a great value as of now
A huge advantage that Thursday has over GS, in my opinion is that they offer [more than one style of] women's boots.
