I played this as a kid at my aunt's! It's strange how vividly I still remember so much about the game, especially that gem collect sound. Always loved the artstyle and music 😁
So many good memories. This game introduced both Brandon's music and MOD music to me. Playing Jazz Belmont on Impulse Tracker probably broke something in my mind, it was an intense experience. It was also the first platformer for which I designed an own level. I liked Lori so much... Thanks for covering this gem. :)
Wauw, it's a good video! I actually learned something new too (I know most things about the original jj1, jj2 and jj2+ already, although the fan-made stuff is potentially endless of course). I learned that in co-op mode you can now both pick-up coins and it all goes to a shared 'wallet'. That makes it more doable to collect enough to get to the bonus stage, I assume only 1 player can use it to warp to the goodies though.. So first come first serve! And I also like co-op because you can't use 'cheat' codes, so you aren't tempted to use them for challenging parts. Anyways, I know someone from my youth who I wanna play the co-op mode with and I'm gonna propose to get jj2+ so we can play it together (local multiplayer and/or online)!!!
While I've only ever played the demo version of the game, I do remember that there's no scaling of the graphics by screen resolution, so you can control how zoomed in or out the game is by what resolution you set, though unless you shelled out for a multi-sync monitor in the 90s you would've been very limited on your resolution choices. :P
@@Ribulose15diphosphat All of those "Windows Sequels to DOS Games" I did videos for I already owned copies of. As I was in the middle of making those videos was when Jazz Jackrabbit 2 (and the other Jazz titles) finally showed up on GOG, but I didn't know about it as it was happening and even if I did, I wouldn't have been able to fit it into the ridiculous schedule I had set for myself with those videos. Granted, I have a copy now and will probably get around to it eventually as a filler video! :B
Don't forget the doom 2 reference on the shareware episode. As a kid I remember that blowing my mind, like, did they reference doom?! I didn't realize doom was so significant at the time and thought it was just a cool game I happened to like.

Yeah it introduced me to tracker music as well and inspired me a lot. The music is ridiculously good.
lol the ending! Good stuff, keep making awesome content 😄
For sure :D
Thanks Spaz, for self-desctuction!
Great video. Lovely to see Jazz still receiving love after 25 years!
Looking forward to next weeks video!
Me too, friend.
Nice
:D
Great review! Many things that I didn't knew about this game!
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@AlyxxTheRatyes, I did!

Yeah that's a valid point. Running the game at 320x240 definitely feels more how the first game played lol
I am surprised you haved reviewed it in an AGD Filler yet as Sequel to DOS-Game, like you did with Descent 3.

Think we both are quite busy lol

Yeah that is a really neat reference as well. Forgot to mention that!
Genuinely one of the best 2D platformers out there, honestly the boss fights are the only real letdown.
Oh yeah probably why I didn't even mention them lmao
this is the best game ever better than any sonic
It's at least on par.
