Love that they put the oil filter in the same area as the drain plug
Came here to say this. Holy shit; why did I ever let a tech do it once
I know right! Holy shit an engineer hooked it up for once
I was looking for metal to place a jack under. All I see is that damn plastic. Where would you put it?
@@renocool1558 there's the dedicated jack points like 6in behind the front wheels and in front of the rear wheels (common place on most cars where the jack that comes with the car is meant to go, you can find a picture in the owner's manual of those points). That bar running between the front and rear wheels is underneath the frame and it is reinforced metal you can jack from.
@drewlehman2456 I have this (hydraulic I guess) jack that I used to put on some metal under the hood, but I can see nothing but plastic cover here. Thanx though. I might just have to put in on the side like tire jack
Thank you so much. Figured it was time to learn and change my own oil to save money! Also didn’t want to wait 1.5 hours at the dealership
Btw it’s called a stealership lol
These new cars intimidate me but your videos ease up my nerves thank you
You sure about that min/max? Looks like you had them reversed. Wouldn’t the higher one on the stick be the max line?
I was thinking the same thing
Does the drain plug have a crush gasket?
Mazda engines favor a high flow oil filter which is why they recommend the OEM Skyactiv oil filter, less flow resistance.
Thank you so much
this channel is underrated period.
Thank you .. it means a lot
@@AutomotiveDysfunction ciao, Could you please tell me the nm to tighten the oil bolt and oil filter please.
Thanks for all
CORRECTION!! At 5:09 minutes flip max and min lol
I was gonna say…
Also, didn't change the gasket ring on the oil drain plug, and didn't use a torque wrench to tighten the plug...possible oil leak.
My kind of therapy
Thankyou!
Thanks; I will do this by my self; really dont trust in Mazda Mexico Dealer
Great car. Well thought out. I am on my third Mazda. I have the same 2.5L engine. Not sure why USA have 0w20 oil, while Australia uses 5w25 or 10w20 or 30. I just follow what the mechanic says.
CAFE requirements in the USA. Rest of world uses 5W-30. In USA manual, it says "Recommended" 0W-20, but 0W-20 "required" for fuel economy.
so glad it uses a canister type oil filter, thank god
0:58 is there a flat spot in the rim (or tyre)? Left of screen
Wieviel Drehmoment braucht die schrsube und der Filter? Ist der Filter Handfest?
What is the thread depth of the drain plug? Is it at least 10mm deep?
BTW ALWAYS PRE-FILL the oil filter, you don't want the engine components such as VVT to run dry even for split second.
Keep ur opinions to urself especially when u dont know shit.
M14 1.5mm bolt. Couldnt u be bothered to google it? But u can be bothered to pre- fill a filter. Hm. Stupid logic you have.
I always punch a hole in the bottom of the filter before I remove it, cuts down on the big mess that it makes.
rare to see that tip
Well if you empty the oil first then u wont have a big mess, especially since the filter is tilted down and not sideways. This guy just unscrewed it while it was full of oil. Clearly has no patience.
you should also take care of that bent rim.
The only thing that worries me is you Didn’t use click or digital torque wrench at the end for the oil pan bolt
I’m sure you’ve done enough to actually tight it feels
But I like to do everything to spec
Do you know what it is wether in inch or ft
Look in description of video it’s says 30ftl for oil drain plug
What’s the best possible oil filter to use on a 2021 Mazda 3 hatchback, 2.5L, non turbo.
Just use Toyoko Roki, it's what the designers had in mind when creating the engine.
OEM
How do you know which oil filter to get? Also where would I put a jack?
Use jack on pinch-weld.. and for oil filter walk in any local auto part house and ask for oil filter for year/model/engine size/ and they ll let you know
@@AutomotiveDysfunction thank you also should I go cheap on tools or pay for a good brand?
@@Valid.4l cheap .. if you won't be using it everyday
@@Valid.4l Fine to go cheap for hand tools, just don't go cheap on ramps/wheel stops/jack and jackstands. You might not live to regret it if those ever failed on you lol.
Always use jack stands or ramps to support a vehicle that you're working under. NEVER rely solely on a jack.
recommended tourque specification for the drain plug?
in description of video
I added the full 5 quarts not the 4.8, should I empty it or is it ok ?
its ok
How ofter change the oil? Every 5k miles?
3K - Ideally. You can get away with 5K tho
OEM service schedule says 7,500 mile oil change intervals. This car uses full synthetic, so you can go at least 5k. Doing every 3k is outdated old school thinking and throwing money down the drain with a modern engine using synthetic oils. Not necessary unless you're following a severe service schedule.
Filtro FRAM XG6607 Ultra Synthetic
Va bene per quest'auto? Grazie a tutti
Someone else here said they use that stuff
what is the amount of oil it takes ?
in description
Can you please put a link to the oil filter that was used in this video.
I can't its not for sale.. but you can go to any local auto parts zone let them know info on your car and they will tell you which oil filter you ll need
I use Fram Ultra Synthetic XG6607 oil filter on my 2019 Mazda 3 HB with Castrol Edge Advanced Full Synthetic 0w-20 oil. Make sure to install a new oil drain plug gasket with each oil change.
@@AutomotiveDysfunction 😆😆🤣
Always use a manufacturer oil filter. Go to your nearest Mazda dealership and buy a bunch of filters: they're only like 7 dollars.
@@MrCheezyCrackthanks for the tip!
The wheels bent from potholes lol
That's not funny that's sad 😢 I hate pot holes they have cost me thousands of dollars in damage to my vehicles!
@@SicilianAmericanDreams trust me. My wallets been hurt too. Especially winter time.
Lol the front passenger side wheel is bent
lol just seen that
I hate when the oil filter is only accessible under the car.
Lol true … but must of European vehicles like Audi/Mercedes/bmw oil filter are on top of engine easy to access
@@AutomotiveDysfunction Yeah. I love that about German cars and that’s how my Mercedes is…. But it’s constant issues and maintenance with German cars…Super exhausting. I’d rather go under the car at this point. 😭
Uses the old oil the lube the new O ring….
It's fine.
Not an issue. Literally at all.
@@toddzino58 you re-use your toilet paper too i see
Am i the only one or is trat Front Wheel in the First Minute in a Bad shape😂
Yeah, I noticed that too. Looks like it's dented. Also would have been nice to see the tech drain all of the oil, that's why I always do my own oil changes.
