  • In this Signal Colors: Primer, I'm taking a look at the Darkness from Dreadbox. This stereo reverb has some wild modulation capabilities, and a super cool gate mode that you have to hear (very cool). Hang out with me while I check it out paired up with the Model:Cycles.

    I still love the reverb on my Dreadbox Nyx V1

      Nice! To be honest I’ve never tried a Dreadbox synth, but they seem cool for sure. How does the reverb in the Nyx compare with this?

      @@Duskmos The reverb in the Nyx V1 is the Crazy Tube Circuits Splash. It's a dark and ghostly reverb. Dreadbox changed the reverb on the Nyx V2. The reverb on the V1 gets a lot of love.
      I highly suggest their synths as well. I own the Typhon, Nymphes, Erebus V2, Erebus V3, and Nyx V1. I highly suggest the Typhon. It's a great synth AND a great FX unit. I also like running synths like the Nymphes (which has a mono output) into the Typhon (which converts to stereo). Or even running a 303 thru the Typhon's FX and getting a stereo signal.
      Though I quite love the Nyx. And now that I'm thinking about it, I have never run the Nymphes into the Nyx's reverb. Well, something to do tonight.

      I’m new to them but I’m liking this reverb for sure! 🙌 do you have some of their effects or synths? or both?

      @@Duskmos I have a Nymphes which I love and the Typhon which is great too. A couple modules and their fuzz and pedal. I’m Greek American (by ancestry) and just get a huge kick out of something modern and cool coming from my people and not just ancient ruins. Their stuff is always a little aggressive and a little odd but in a charming way. And very affordable!

      That’s awesome! Very cool to have that kind of bond with an instrument maker. I’ve seen their stuff around for sure, Sonic State has covered a lot of it and they seem like fans which is always good to see. I’ve been interested in the Hypnosis, looks like fun. 🙌

      @@Duskmos yes! And every once in a while they have really interesting DIY kits that get snatched up fast, so keep an eye out.

    Thanks for the video! What does the TX6 do?

    • @Duskmos
      @Duskmos  7 месяцев назад +1

      I just call it out because it’s part of the signal chain, it’s a mini mixer, not adding anything here but sometimes I’ll route a drum machine into a clean channel and have an effected channel in parallel or other times I’ll use the effects on the tx6 too!

    Over 2min before I get a taste?

      You must be new here haha but welcome 🙏- in my “Primer” videos I always go over the controls and talk a bit before I dive in. They’re vids for people who want to know how things work in addition to how they sound. Hope you come back for more but if not, I appreciate you stopping by ✌️

      @@Duskmos Your format is the best. I need the explanation at the start. That guy can skip 2 min if he wants :)

      @@magicseadog8674 Haha thank you! I know not everyone is going to like the same approach, that's totally fine with me. What's good is you can skip something that's in my video, but you can't add to it haha, so I'd rather always do "more" over "less" - appreciate you watching! ✌
