This is a quick and easy way to add any character or just simply change the player character in the new motion matching game animation sample project. We also take a look at how to add our own custom mesh to traverse. You can use this method on pretty much any mesh that uses the UE4/5 skeleton.

This worked flawlessly thank you. I used a mixamo character straight from mixamo and followed these steps.

LOL, I already knew how to bring in a character into GAS but you taught me a simple technique to create those traveral walls and ledges. Cant believe I did not think to do it that way, thanks man !
My comment could be out of ignorance. But I vehemently believe that re-targeting in UE5 is too convoluted.. hope they implement a better way to do this for this EXTREMELY common need in UE.
retargeting is easier then even in 5.4 there are several tutorials out there how to do this.

This destroyed my project, left my character stuck in t pose so i've had to restart. Don't Know why it didn't work though
i followed this but it seems like only my characters legs work properly his upper body is still in a t pose, the retargeter said it was unable to find the root bone, amongst other bones
idk what to say bro i haven't had any issues with this method and I've done it with multiple different characters... it might be that the character you are trying to use doesn't use the manny skeleton
@@Clydiie it doesn't it's my custom character, i shall try and rig it with the manny skeleton
@CTRLsway I would suggest trying to rig with a character that already uses the skeleton like the paragon ones just to confirm it works for you... I'm pretty sure it will, but just to be on the safe side
I tried to run net mode play is 2 clients, but character control doesn't work, maybe you know why?
The default GASP is not set up for replication, there are other projects people have altered that are though e.g. ruclips.net/video/-zkdBxBybFg/видео.html

you can make a tutorial on how to do the animation with a sword, for example, so the animation is then changed slightly so that it looks like he is carrying a sword 😅?
I could potentially put the swords on the back of the character and make it so that with a button, you can bring the swords out and put them back on the back

Kind of a shame that parkour isn't purely coded parkour, and you need a BP to tell the character to hop and how to hop.

Hey Bro! Would you be able to explain the process with modular pieces? I tried adding them as a child to the mesh and then setting leader pose with all the attached pieces, but it wasn't able to load. Great content btw!
But how would I add that in to another project once done inside this project? Cheers.
So I did manage to do just that and succeeded only once. I wasn't happy with the character so chose another character and merged and now it doesn't compile as it did the first time. Now when I did manage to do it the second time it does but without the animations 🤔
@@probuzzgaming You need to make sure that the project you are merging this into has all of the required plug-ins for motion matching turned on. Did you do that ?
