  • Now that I'm uploading this video, I realize there are a few things I forgot to mention. Like how you need to invest in some serious rain gear because it NEVER stops raining in the summer. And you need to leave decorations at home because the Disney apartments don't allow you to decorate anyways. But besides that, I hope you enjoy the video and don't forget to subscribe!

    I'm now in my late 20's, I did the CP program From Jan 09 and extended the whole year to Dec 09'. I can honestly and absolutely say it was the most fun year of my life. There were long days, challenging and frustrating situations, however the experiences I had and people I met made it one of the crown jewels of my life time, I had so much fun. Its amazing how content you can be making little to no money, working super long hours in extreme weather while wearing crazy 'costumes' (as it were) if you are in the right place with the best people. I wish I could go back and do it again sometimes, actually all my friends do. Cheers to anyone considering it , its so worth it!

      One of my many roommates was in culinary. Get ready for crazy hours hahah. I rarely saw her, and when I did she was passed out asleep in bed. Her start and end date was different than mine. She was moved in and started working like at least a month before me, and she left like a month or so before me too. But she got great experience and she works in California with a really nice restaurant that actually catered the Oscars last year!

    • @SuperHeroSydni22
      @SuperHeroSydni22  9 лет назад

      +mailiiliam I was so nervous too, but you just have to do it!! What do you have to lose? You do an online application thing, and then an online interview, which are multiple choice questions like "On a scale of most likey to most unlikely how do you blah blah blah." The phone interview is last, and I read somewhere to talk in front of a mirror when you're interviewing so you can see yourself smiling and you'll sound like you're smiling. That was the most nerve racking part, but after that you're done!

    • @sydnidoughtie1752
      @sydnidoughtie1752 9 лет назад

      I would recommend Creativity and Innovation only because I'm more of an artsy person and I really enjoyed that class. Marketing You was hard for me because you have to do a LOT of work. But, I did learn a lot about myself in that class and what kinds of careers there are out there. Ughhhh honestly it's hard to choose, I'm glad I did both. But go for Creative if you enjoy creativity and want a more laid back class, or go Marketing if you want to challenge yourself.

    Sydni! Hi! I'm doing DCP this coming Spring and I am also from Texas! My parents are pretty adamant about not letting me drive all the way to Orlando but I really want to have my car there. What are some advantages to having brought your car with you? I need more reasons to build a strong argument with them!

    • @SuperHeroSydni22
      @SuperHeroSydni22  7 лет назад

      Hi!! Hope I'm not too late on this response! One BIG advantage was the buses you take to go to work are death traps. At least one of them caught on fire during my CP, and I'm sure it's happened multiple times after that. Plus they very rarely have AC, and they are not reliable to get to work on time. If you're even a second late, you get a mark, and if you get enough marks you'll be terminated.

    • @SuperHeroSydni22
      @SuperHeroSydni22  7 лет назад +1

      The drive is not that bad. I'm from Houston, and the halfway mark is in Daphne Alabama. I drove all the way to Daphne, stayed the night, and then made it safely to Orlando the next day.

      No the college program is separate from the internship. From what I observed being there is the internship is more professional jobs or management positions where the college program are jobs around the parks. They kind of bunch them all together though. I have that folder because of the class I took there, and that's the folders they gave us.

    Hi, I really want to apply for the WDW college program once I get in college! I was wondering did it cost to be in it? Like upfront money you have to pay? And also did you ever get home sick? I feel like if I went during the fall I would miss Christmas with my family and all that fun stuff. Thanks!

      I don't remember how much it was, but you do have to pay a fee. I think it was for the apartment, but I really don't know.
      I did miss my family a little over holidays, but at the same time you have all your DCP friends that you make your own little family with!

    Hey girl! I really want to do the program! But I also have to pay my bills like car and insurance ect. I am worried that I won't make enough to be able to live down there and pay all my other bills too. I would need at least $390 a month just for my bills here. If you don't mind me asking, do you think I could make enough to pay those bills as well as my housing and food for Disney? Btw loved the video!!

      +Alexandria Bullock One of my roommates was struggling because she had to pay for her insurance and all that, and you don't get paid a lot, but it was enough for her to get by. I think you'd be able to do it, you just definitely have to cut out spending that isn't on necessities. It's SO worth it though, I highly recommend you going for it!!

    Was it hard to make friends when you did the program?! I'm so nervous that i won't make friends with the other people that easily and i want to be able to hang out with everyone and go to the parks with them whenever i can, so what was that aspect of doing the program like??

      It was SO easy. Everyone there is so nice I promise you will instantly make friends!!! Everyone has the same thing in common, they love Disney! I'm still really good friends with all my former coworkers and roommates.

    Could I still apply even though I'm out of college here at home? If so I might do it but then my learning disability will be in the way and I don't know if they would want me anywhere.

    Hi! I'm starting my program this fall and I was curious you mentioned living off campus would be better. That is what I'm planning on doing, but will I still be allowed to attend the housing events and stuff? Also how will I get to know about them if I'm not usually in the housing area? Thanks a lot!

    • @SuperHeroSydni22

      +Kalinn Stewart Yes you can still go to the housing events, and they actually have a Disney housing Instagram page where they post upcoming events and stuff!

    What a great video! I had been thinking about doing the DCP for a while now, and think that I will be applying in the very near future. I had a question though. Are there classes offered for every major? I am an English major with only about 2 years left to my degree. I still want to work on that degree and am trying to not fall behind. I am pretty torn because I cannot find an answer

      Talk to your school about it and see if they will accept Disney credits. Some do and some don't. I would recommend waiting till you graduate and then apply to the DCP. You can still apply your last semester of college. I know a lot of people who did that, and that way you can finish school and have a few months at Disney before you get a job in the real world lol

    Bit of a serious question, I am 16 and planning to do the dcp when I can (most likely in about 5 years or so), and I am very interested in how much money I will need before I embark on the trip? I know I will be earning money there but how did you manage your finances and how much money did you bring with you or have on hand?

    • @SuperHeroSydni22
      @SuperHeroSydni22  9 лет назад +2

      Honestly I didn't have very much money when I moved. I had probably about $400 dollars. You just have to be smart about saving money when you're there because you'll want to spend it on everything you see at the parks hahah you get paid every week so that's nice. I would say just save up enough money that you know you would need to get there and like at least $100 for those first couple of weeks before you get your first paycheck.

    Question! I recently applied to the DCP and my top choice was The Pirate's League! Can you tell me about your experience in The Pirate's League?! What a day was like/ hours/anything I should know? Thanks! -Alex

    • @sydnidoughtie1752
      @sydnidoughtie1752 9 лет назад

      It was the time of my life. It's almost like being a character performer because you put on your pirate persona and that is who you are the whole day. Hours were AWESOME because they close at 4, so the longest shift you would have would be 8:30 to 4:45, opposed to my roommate in attractions who would work from like noon to 3 AM. College program notoriously gets the worst hours, but Pirates League was the exception. It's a fantastic role!
