Hey, i'm new to this show and as a Purple Daily subscriber since covid, i'm finding hockey as a great second American sport. I live in England and don't get NHL on TV but we do get NFL. I loved this show!

I think we make the playoffs. The biggest reason they didn’t make it last year was that half the team was injured the entire season. Barring unprecedented injury, again, they will make it.

The Wild are not loaning Öhgren to Sweden if he doesn't make the team. He's playing in Iowa if that's the case.

Heidt can't play in the AHL this year, so if he doesn't make the team over NoJo then it's either back to juniors or sign with a European team. He put up 117 points last year and was tied with Bedard in assists the year before that. He has nothing left to prove there and I think it's better for him to stay in MN even if he has some struggles. Put him on a line with Rossi and Zucc/Ohgren and see what he can do. Just send NoJo down to Iowa if no one wants to trade for him.

I came here to say that! But I think he gets a 9 game try out, then they will decide if they want to send him back to the WHL. Also It is kind of sad that Jessi doesn't know or forgot that.

GMBG likely inquired with the requirement of 50% salary retention, I'd be pissed if he at least didn't look into that...He probably also had ideas of dumping Gaudreau in the trade...

I’m a Wild fan first and a Habs fan second. I am extremely high on Laine. The Wild would kill for a guy that scores 30 goals in his sleep. I personally think he is a massive bounce back candidate if healthy. That being said. We did not have the money to make it work. It is ok since I’ll still be able to cheer for him in Montreal (Who look to be slowly putting it together). For the Habs It’s an easy investment. His stock is low so you buy low for a high return. That is how you win trades. You get a player like that for a decent (not elite) defensive prospect and you get a pick? You make that trade any day. When a guy with his kind of potential becomes available you make it work. I am glad one of my favorite teams jumped on the opportunity.

$8.7M is buying low? The guy hasn't played a full season since 2017.

    • @MNWildFan57

@@travzimmerman1340 Yes. And you get a second round pick. For only a ok defensive prospect and cap space. Which Montreal has a ton of. When you have an abundance of cap space and for that kind of potential you make the move. Especially for a player like Laine where there is no doubt if he can score. It’s just about staying healthy.
      Bad scenario for Montreal:
He gets injured and still can’t stay on the ice. You place him on LTIR and have gained a second round pick for a defensive prospect. Not terrible.
Worst case is that he sucks. Either way I’m taking that bet in Montreal’s situation every time.
They (Minnesota) didn’t have the cap space to make the move. It’s unfortunate. Completely different situations obviously. Taking a chance on Laine is a commodity that the Wild can’t afford.

I'm not saying it was a terrible trade but there's definitely a ton of risk involved. Large cap hits on guys that are always hurt is always a yuge risk.

@@travzimmerman1340 Trav. I have no doubt in my mind that if the buyouts were not a factor Billy would have pulled the trigger on this deal. Whether that’s good or not remains to be seen.
What I do know is Billy being willing or at least exploring a deal to try and move the needle is better than what we usually get in Minnesota.

I like Utah to move up. I think Cooley looks extremely fast and dynamic. If he and then either Hayton or Gunther take the next step they will have some legitimate top end talent. I would put them in the middle bunch with Stl, Min, and Wpg competing for the fourth spot. Safe bet is the Jets but I figure it will be relatively close all season

Hello from Salt Lake City! I moved here 5 years ago and downtown SLC has every bit of night life of most cities I’ve been to. Also Park city has a good scene too and is about 35 min from downtown SLC. It’s down south by Provo/BYU that still has zero nightlife

You three seem to almost always equal a tall hockey player with being automatically better…there are plenty of tall players who are not good enough to play in the NHL and there are plenty of elite players who are under 6’ tall. There needs to be more maturity in your discernment of talent.
