I have all 4 in this series...RE RELEASED FROM WHEN I WAS A KID. !! and I am thrilled. They build up beautifully. However, I find it odd that, so far, all of the modelers I've seen on RUclips, including the show entering competetive types, are all ignoring the GLARING fact that, on all 4 of these MPC modifieds, the firewall is WAY WAY too far back, (combined with a seat that sits too far forward), affording the hypothetical driver, NO LEGROOM WHATSOEVER, and that if any normal human was to try to shoehorn themselves into this thing, he would end up trying to drive with his knees humped up around his ears. Serious modification to the firewall and footwell area is needed in order to extend them forward to "realistically", accomadate a normal sized driver sitting in a normal driving position (if realism is the goal here)....which I believe it is. Some folk build strictly in accordance with the kit parts and instructions and will not deviate.... and I get that...but I will modify or kit bash existing parts or alter proportions if required to do so. With some sheet styrene and a bit of creative modelling, the firewall, and drivers leg and footwell area can easily be extended forward on this kit for the sake of improved realism. I needed this car to LOOK DRIVABLE before moving forward with paint and assembly, as I saw little point in laboring the details of an undrivable car. That has been my only issue with building these MPC modified stocker kits....firewall too far back.
The Vega turned out perfect Russell. The orange and yellow pop. Definitely easy to pick out on the track. Nice build!!!
