    We just bought a home in Utah. Home is less than 7 years old. Radon test came back higher than the 4 rating. Current owners had to have a radon system installed in the home before our bank would finalize our loan. Apparently it’s a Utah law. I am so grateful we had our new home checked. Our home inspector charged an additional $300 fee to do this in addition to the normal inspection. I hope this dear woman is able to find some relief as well as her family. This is so sad.

I watched my house being built and saw the radon protection/blocking layer and vent where the gas is directed harmlessly into the outside air where it is sufficiently diluted to not be a danger to anyone. Had our house tested twice at 50.1 pico. Put in a mitigation and it has a reader where we can check it everyday. We are now at 1.2 picos. Worth the cost of $1500.

      So glad to know this. We haven't tested since we moved here in May. I would add that exposure is an issue but so is a healthy immune system to destroy rogue cancer cells as they form. A no-sugar plant based diet is the best prevention and anyone with cancer for sure should be sugar -free, eating a high nutrient-dense diet.

    • @guppy2678

      To test for radiation they place a plastic container that is sealed in the middle of the room. Then in 3 to 4 days, you send the plastic container into the lab, they use a special lens and check how many dents are in the plastic container. Those deaths are radiation penetrating the plastic container. So radon is basically. Natural radiation from the planet, but when you live underground, which your basement is fully underground, radiation is going through and it will penetrate through your body, but the place most affected immediately is your lungs, so imagine tiny bits of radiation penetrating through your body. Yes, of course, your body with a natural immune system has something to do with you're saying healthy, but what you're basically playing with his radiation, penetrating through your body on a daily basis, and when you have no ventilation that radiation becomes highly concentrated, we don't have means to open the windows as of yet. So when we got the test being at 50, that's how much radiation is going through our bodies. We weren't down in the basement, yet, so we immediately got mitigate are so that were brought down to 2 pico's that are penetrating vs. 50 through our bodies. I lived in Colorado in the basement because we had tenants that lived in the third floor so we were at 2:00 on average picks and much more tolerable. Of course, it's still not safe to have any radiation penetrating your body, but it's unavoidable because the earth has radiation. When we saw the pictures of the plastic cup and the dense inside the cup and them telling us, this is what penetrating through our body, and no matter how well your immune system is, you can't fight something like this. There is no amount of money that would matter versus her health, and there is nothing you can do as far as diet to prevent that much radiation, because it's hard to explain, but this is penetrating your body. The only defense is to have a lead vest, and even that wouldn't prevent all the radiation from penetrating through your body, it just radiation seeps through everything. So reducing the amount of it will help from getting the Cancer. I just want to let people really understand, you need to read about it, people everybody out there, I highly suggest you understand what it means to have radiation penetrating through your body. Doesn't matter your diet, it doesn't matter anything, it will alter your body, your DNA, all kinds of things, so please play it safe and have your house tested.

      @@guppy2678 Thanks for the info. Most natural doctors recommend high intake of anitoxidants to counteract free radicals that are created from radiation such as airline travel and x-rays. Perhaps that's not enough protection for a high concentration of radon, but once someone has cancer it's all hands on deck to help the immune system fight back, which means no/low sugar and carbs. And yes, definitely remove the radiation cause if at all possible, too.

Radon gas doesn’t just appear out of nowhere. Something in the commercial process of developing these homes is f*cked up. Don’t just accept that it’s on the homeowner to test their home. This is like buying a car and expecting the driver to test for high levels of carbon monoxide. The car manufacturers would be and have been sued for cars that are unsafe; so should home developers.

    We've known about radon for well over 40 years. Radon mitigation isn't too expensive. Test kits are inexpensive and sometimes available free.

  • @kikuchiutah
    @kikuchiutah Год назад +3

    Newer homes and townhomes are being built with HOA's. Those HOA's have to approve the installation of radon mitigation systems which should be decided by the homeowners, not the HOA's! Also, wait times are long for the homeowners who have to get approval from the HOA's. Please look into that and get someone to sponsor a law that takes that authority away from HOA's. As you can see from this story, lives are on the line!

    • @eaglevision993
      @eaglevision993 Год назад

      HOAs are just a big scam that only works in the US. They do basically nothing of real importance. Just there for petty matters. They lack the expertise and education for anything beyond the color of your house.

    • @wownewstome6123
      @wownewstome6123 Год назад

      Let's push for federal laws that greatly limit what HOAs can limit. Some HOAs have even forced the sale of homes when the owners could have kept their home. They've even sold them at a small fraction of their worth.

    There's an easy fix to the new home side. Let the state or county mandate all new homes have the radon pipe installed while they are in the building process. The cost would be negligible.

    (Necessary disclaimer: To prevent all the hate replies, I am merely commenting that there is no necessary connection established in the video between this woman’s cancer and the radon levels in her house. It’s still a very good idea to test, and no matter where you live, particularly if your house has a basement. We did, and the test was negative .)

      Testing is good. Testing repeatedly is best. Both over long periods of time, but also close together in case the test was faulty. I recommend EPA articles, and others.
      It can also effect homes in any state, any location, even if your neighbor's home is fine.

    See I was just saying to anyone that will listen the secret Santa of the Idaho news I feel like something is causing so much sickness. Maybe this is also the cause. A military base in north Carolina had contaminated drinking water since 1954. so it's possible there's a reason so many r sick. My female intuition has never failed me. I wish this article had told us what RADON is. How to check. My home is old

      Radon is radioactive gas that comes up from the soil. It just needs to be removed by a system that releases it at your roofline, because it becomes dispersed enough when released there. See articles, such as at EPA: "How Does Radon Enter Homes"

    • @wownewstome6123
      @wownewstome6123 Год назад

      Radon can be found in virtually any home/building. While it comes up from the soil (and can come from ANY soil), it has entered homes via well water, in some cases.

    Colorado also has high levels of radon as well but look more in to the Layton area around the base they have some of the highest levels of cancer in the whole state, a majority of those cases can be contributed to chemicals dumped in what use to be fields where no one lived that are now subdivisions, people want to blame the base and I do but let’s not forget the developers who have gotten rich well people in the beehive state have died from cancer.
