I have removed hundreds of seat over the years and the only make that the airbag light comes on is Mercedes. If the battery is disconnected for a long period of time, when it is reconnect it there could be more faults with the car. so clearing the airbag light is the better option. most good mechanics will clear it for free or cheep. from someone who dose this for a living

Just be careful with unplugging the cable. Batteri needs to be off first.
