Be honest, does plugin interface design influence your purchasing decisions? Share below
The interface? No, but the sound Yes. I own various and stoped here to see your review. Thanks
I'm after the sound. Then, maybe take a deep look at the GUI to justify my purchase 😂.
I'm always interested in the User Experience more than User Interface. If the developers know how to intuitively design their plugin so that anybody can use it, I'm all for it.
Since I'm getting older and eyesight is getting worse and worse: yes. Unfortunately.
@@JornLavoll Such a good point. What is an example of a Plugin with a good UI for you?
Love that BabyAudio doesn't recreate analogue products but instead make their own unique style. Really great reverb!
I think that's more of what we need in this industry. Just get a bundle of analog emulations from any of the big manufacturers to cover the basics and then move on and stop worrying about vintage equipment
We loved the attention to detail too! Building up from past ideas with modern capabilities
Thanks Warren for reviewing the new Reverb! I saw the announcement from Baby Audio, and I was immediately interested because I have been searching for a "go to" reverb for my tracks to work with Denise Audio Perfect Plate (which I Love). I am a newbie in terms of crafting custom reverb sounds for my tracks using compression, delays, and multiple verbs. Recent PLAP members in the FB Group helped me a lot with my reverb inquiry. Before the enlightenment from some helpful PLAP members, I was never totally happy with the reverb I could get. This new verb looks pretty amazing. I particularly like the ability of the verb to sync with the BPM and all the shaping control! Thanks again! Sincerely, Rob G. (aka Foothill Tribe)
Any reverb that can split transient from resonant on one interface is totally worth the splash. Been hit or miss for me with BA but their efforts and intentions as designers is always worth a try. I admire them for avoiding the well travelled path and exploring the potential of the unchartered terrain. Their interfaces are refreshingly unbusied by art homage and the nouveau look is the perfect companion to the sound design of the tools they make.
Bugs get fixed quickly from BA for the record. Awesome company quickly moving from up and coming to full on 5 star boutique shizzel chefs
Ordered mine before I saw your video, but still gonna be worth it! Love seeing you so excited!
Oooh baby! I love this channel! Thanks again Warren! Every video a home run!
Thanks ever so much Michael!
Great sounding reverb with great features. I really like the interface. Very user friendly. This is a winner.
Wow, that's a lot of control with a very simple GUI. I think I'm sold on this one.
Thanks for sharing Ed!
Its great the way you show so many practical applications and how to really work the unit for us newbies by the use of prefade for example. Thanks Warren - another top Produce Like a Pro review!
That is a really nice reverb! And the ducking and reverse options (and well, all of them) are so helpful!!
Thanks ever so much!
I love what Baby Audio is doing. Might not always have as much minute control and detail as you would like on all their plugins, but what they do they do really, really well.
Turns out making micro adjustments to reverb doesn’t make your mix sound better, but it probably makes you think it does.
I have been using Crystalline since it came out and it really is a Swiss Army knife of a reverb. The ease of use of the GUI is its best feature and puts it head and shoulders above its peers! The presets are also excellent and probably all most people will need.
Definitely a strong candidate..... And on s for a very reasonable price. We're spoiled these days!
Wow! Thank for this review Warren!
Nice!! Looks like tons of fun for sound design. It sounds great and it’s quick and easy to work with. Definitely worth the asking price. I love the shape and transient controls. I’m a diehard Eventide fan but I really like this.
I bought it at release and have been using it on many tracks. It’s wonderful. Baby audio make great plugins.
Agreed! I love the plug in!
This is next-level plugin making. SO MANY REVERBS ALREADY IN THE MARKET and still... this feels like something new. Like an improved Neoverb. Nearly every setting works. I've never found every reverb sound in my head this fast. Taip, Parallel Agressor, Comeback Kid, VHS, and now Crystalline, are all over my mix template.
Totally agree with you Warren - Baby Audio stuff just works! It's funny but I had the same impressions like you did when I first tried it before it came out without having watched any reviews. Brilliant video, enjoyed every bit of it!
Ok here's my question. I just purchased just the Crystaline Baby audio. I put the Vst's in Cake walk. I opened up the VST within Cakewalk. From there I'm confused. I tried different sounds but hear nothing on my speakers or headphones. What am I doing wrong?
Sounds great and the UI is very well designed and thought out.
“wow, Sounds like a triangle“
I was exactly thinking the same thing at that moment
Great demo. Good grief, it looks to be the easiest to use reverb I've seen. What a winner of a plugin. Good sound judging from the demo, dead easy to use and cheap as well. Giving this a go and will probably get it. I'm always looking to cut a little time in my dialogue mixes on special effects. Just for that it's worth it already to me. Stratus, Acon Digital Immersive 2, Valhalla Room and Aether usually have me covered. If I'm going to try and buy a new reverb, it'll have to offer something very fresh, and this seems to fit the bill. Thank you again for this revealing demo.
Crazy control of the sound. You can almost anything reverby, well not anything, but a hell of a lot. Very cool plugin. Must have for me.
Warren. thank you so much sharing your experience. I just started producing and sometimes get overwhelemed by the possibilities of creating music, shaping sounds etc. You became my go to guy if i am wondering how to make this sound better, which plugin to give a tr and all kind of other questions that might appear. You make me feel a bit less lost. So thanks again and go on sharing the fun you have making music.
Sounds amazing and looks great would love one
Thanks Diego for sharing!
this sounds amazing!
I bought this today. It really is very very good. I'd say this was the most musical and intuitive reverb I've used. I have reverbs from Relab, Eventide, Soundtoys, Liquidsonics, Waves etc. It really is that good.
Ok here's my question. I just purchased just the Crystaline Baby audio. I put the Vst's in Cake walk. I opened up the VST within Cakewalk. From there I'm confused. I tried different sounds but hear nothing on my speakers or headphones. What am I doing wrong?
@@yesterdayoncemore7130 Did you see if it is a license issue? I mean, if you are intending on using a demo, do you have the demo version installed?
I'm here because of the other video, with Sanjay that was posted today. I don't know how I missed this video when it first came out - maybe because I thought the Open Air reverb was all I'd ever need but damn it, this video has me second guessing that now.
Sounds great and looks great too!
The sound you have going right now is totally reminding me of running a drum machine thru the Gated Reverb preset of a QuadraVerb back in the '90s.. Sounds just like it! Back when there was only one send for mixdown on your four track cassette recorder.. Sometimes you had run something right thru the box 'on the way in' and track it wet if you wanted it to have more than just the reverb patch that was almost always on that one send. Those old first gen QV's had some really good reverbs, actually..
I bought it the second i got the email, couldn't be more pleased
Looks great and more importantly, sounds it too. Like you I love the Transient function and the fact it has the Sync feature makes it an absolute winner for me. I really think sync should be included on all Reverb plugs.
Thanks ever so much Pat!
Thanks, nice review
I was playing with this today and I really like it. What a clever neat interface. Had a problem trying to automate the FRZ in Logic. Couldn't seem to get it in Latch mode. Had to write the automation manually. Hope they fix that in an update. Apart from Latch mode automation issues, first feel is awesome.
I bought this yesterday and it is brilliant
I got really excited when you said this is running on your 2009 laptop! I have protools on a 2014 MacBook and I’m locked into El Capitan (if I update it I’ll lose access to Protools) so this AMAZING reverb should be able to run on my older laptop as well!🤘
Thanks Warren! This plugin is a mega buy!
Definitely worth every cent and more
I really love that. Very innovative beyond anything that would be physically possible in a natural reverb or classic standard algorithm.
But at 24:00 I would move the reverb to an aux and put a trackspacer against it, sidechained by the guitar.
Excellent interface, save for the gate. That is the only parameter I feel would be slower for me to dial in without the typical metering for gain reduction and threshold. Kudos to the Shape section in particular. Tilt is usually all that's needed on reverb EQ, and the smoothing and transient shaping are wonderful bonuses.
That reverb sounds incredible to me
it sounds modern maybe a perfect fit for electronic music !
That's what I'm thinking, I think it's going to get a lot of use in modern pop production
So great to see a favorite reviewer reviewing something from one of my favorite new plug-in companies! I bought the reverb before trying it 😂 as I like/use their Spaces Out plug-in and it’s sooo fun! Really great on synths. Now I can get a feel for what’s possible thanks to Mr. Huart. 😅
"Sounds like a triangle, haha!" Awesome clip as always
BABY, They're Back! Looking forward to this review.
I bought this and love it!
Hey great video, thank you for making it! I just wanted to let you that you actually missed a feature hahaha! The ducker has 2 modes. It's on the gentle mode by default. If you shut it off it's a MUCH more aggressive ducker. Just figured I would chime in. Thanks again!
Great plugin, I like the reverb sync, That's useful for not over cluttering the transitions between parts with previous decay, (say a vocal reverb hanging around during section changes) but For the more adventurous people out there, OSAR "Organic Shimmer Acoustic Reverb" as follows! Take the dry signal audio file (usually a vocal or a drum loop), pitch it up an octave (+12) use any old time-stretching, grab an average mic (or use your phone for lo-fo) play it on a blue tooth speaker, turn it up as loud as you can and record from the other side of the hall, blend to taste! Churches are great, Tunnels, anything where the sound bounces around, or run it into a guitar amp with a spring reverb for more volume (amplitude, and find resonance frequency in large spaces,) instead of a Bluetooth speaker...lots of fun, totally random results :) The downside is you come across strange to people asking to use a hall for a second to play loud chipmunk vocal sounds and wandering around with microphones, amusing.
Found this review after I had bought Crystalline. I have been looking for a great reverb since I used the Lexicon plugin that came with the DAW that I used many years ago, but since upgrading, the free one was not available and purchasing was a touch expensive and requires iLok (which I have, but just saying). Lexicon had some awesome sounds that I have not been able to match until now. Crystalline is pure magic and the current price makes it irresistible. Thanks for your review
Thanks ever so much Alan! So glad to be able to help! Have a marvellous time recording, many thanks Warren
Sounds amazing.
Nice. That vocal track sounded great to begin with.
Great Demo….Thank you
Thanks ever so much
Love to hear this as a buss reverb you send a bunch of stuff to like the the old 80s Steve Lillywhite sound.
Those vocals sounds perfect with this verb🔥🔥🔥TEENA MARIA🔥🔥🔥
Yup. You're right. Reverb "and" delays seem to be louder in the virtual studio plugin. I thinking what's happening shows up when soloing reverbs and delays with/without the plug. What I'm hearing indicates that the sides are pulled in with the plug making the center louder. Without the plug, the sides seem more separate/wide/less forward? This is why I often listen to chambers and reverbs soloed to see if they drop much in volume going mono and make adjustments if needed. I could be wrong but that seems to be what's happening. I hadn't used this plug for some time but maybe I need to think a bit differently about what it's good for - for me anyway. Cheers.
This reverb sounds really really good. Even though I already have a gazillion of reverbs, I think you can never have too many of them.
Haha thanks ever so much for sharing! Great reverb, wonderful guys!
@@Producelikeapro Ok here's my question. I just purchased just the Crystaline Baby audio. I put the Vst's in Cake walk. I opened up the VST within Cakewalk. From there I'm confused. I tried different sounds but hear nothing on my speakers or headphones. What am I doing wrong?
An easy-to-use verb which sounds great, I see already a few possibilities here, put 2 in serial, with that gate would be fun, in Reaper, extensions, you can add even an LFO to drive this plugin. I have to try this one, thank you for bringing this one up. And To answer your question, yes, simplicity is my way to go on designs. If you are getting serious with music. How about automatization, are there routing options for this plugin?
Not usually a huge fan of plugin reviews/overviews (especially ones that are sponsored/giveaway).. but even tho this reverb isn't the greatest sounding to my ears, I think I'm going to get it, purely because of the easy-of-use factor. For creative effects this thing seems awesome!
That’s great to hear!
I don’t ever do this... but I bought the plug-in 8 minutes into the video haha
That's great to hear! I really enjoyed using it!
The Reverse setting is great.
Agreed 100%!
Oh my! I'm afraid I'll have to buy that too...
Ups, I did it and I don't regret it.... ;-)🥰
This verb lets ya get very granular with the parameters 🤘🏽
And it has a resizable gui
Why is it so hard to get a nice GUI like this one?
dude i just checked, remembered that i saw you in the comments section for a totally unrelated 2yr old video on a diff channel about 90s metal guitar tone i watched like half an hr ago. what are the odds. or maybe the audio world is just really really small 🤣
@@recordednowhere I get around. I’m an omniexcremental being, there’s a little poo in all of you🤣
Looks great, with a ton of functions. The layout is eh.....different....... Ah suppose the more you use it the more accustomed to it, you become. Great video can't go wrong for 50 smakerooos
Dude you are having so much fun here. 😂 But it is a great plugin. This makes me want to post on IG to have everyone buy this. I did and am trying to make it my only verb.
I was Kord! Thanks ever so much! Happy New Year!
cooool! what version of Protools and which OS are you using? thanks for all your great videos!
This has a really thoughtful interface. I wonder if it has contextual help (right click menus?)
This is for me a YES! As all of Baby Audio plugins - they're really creative .Klevgrand is another brand with great new ideas!! Check it up!!
Marvellous!
Thanks for this review buddy....which plugins do you think can definitely replace analog gear. ..i,e. tape , compressor, EQ and reverb? ...i am so obsessed with the analog sound. especially on vocals but i cant afford gear at this moment.
Ok… i need this, only used rc24 and rc48 for 4 years now
Being a reverbaholic, I will have to demo this (even tho I already have around twenty reverb plugs). Thanks for showing and telling. Now let's wait for the dyed-in-the-wool hardware reverb guys to chime in about how NO plugin can EVER sound as good as a hardware unit.
I have like, 6 reverb plugins I use on the regular and I'm trying to resist the urge so badly lol
@@BrofUJu haha thanks for sharing!
Thanks Robert! Thanks for the great comment!
thx again ! sound good to me :)
Thanks ever so much
You sold me. Just bought it. I don’t think it’s a coincidence they’re having a 50% off sale 😜
I understand the thinking behind timing ones reverb to a track's BPM but what I don't understand is the when and why I would choose either 1/16th, 8th or Quarter note settings. How do we establish which to use? Thanks.
Take my money, Baby Audio!
Haha indeed!
Yo Warren, After this video an older FAQ friday video auto-played, and it was one talking about Avoiding Dull Vocals; specifically mentioning the Adele session at Harmony. (I think it was harmony?) He used the 47 or 48 mic. Do you have any idea which mic pre was used on those vocals? I immediately listened to Someone Like You after, and it's certainly vibey.
I've been so impressed with the CLA Epic that I almost don't want to check out another reverb. It does seem as though the type of controls here - that are almost "emotional" as opposed to labeled in terms of actual physical audio parameters - may be some kind of trend.
Baby Audio kind of reminds me of the "Lamb" series of DOD pedals in the 90's - stuff like the Grunge Pedal, the Gonkulator, Ice Box, etc. Silly and irreverent, but also just like... trying stuff. Super here for it.
I don’t want to pigeonhole this plugin 10 minutes into a demo…. But this sounds like an 80s MACHINE. The flavor of the reverb and the gate, it just takes me there. I’m here for it haha
Wow, straight off the default sounds very realistic, and this I know from the majority of my mixing being live shows, if that’s the feel you want to go for then that’s your Baby ! 🙄
Ok here's my question. I just purchased just the Crystaline Baby audio. I put the Vst's in Cake walk. I opened up the VST within Cakewalk. From there I'm confused. I tried different sounds but hear nothing on my speakers or headphones. What am I doing wrong?
My wallet: "You already have like, 8 reverb plugins"
My plugin lust: "It looks like fun, it sounds good....just think of all of the things it would sound good on"
Me: "Shut up, wallet....what do you know reverbs?"
hahahaha. Yeah, Wallet!
I deleted my previous comment about panning issues - it’s something to do with my kit, not Baby Audio at all. I apologised wholeheartedly by email to them and re-wrote my review with a new star rating to reflect this. The fault was pernicious. It’s only after it intermittently happened with the ‘replacement’ reverb that I knew was good from before, I realised ‘Crystalline reverb’ is not in fact the culprit. I apologise here too, in case somebody read the adverse issue here. It’s a great reverb, if not cheap by iOS/iPadOS standards. The others in iOS like ToneBoosters, are detailed in what you can do, but it’s quite involved. On the other hand, if you mainly rely on presets, it’s probably not an issue. Take care all.
Wow! Accountability on the Internet?! I’m sure people will appreciate this! Don’t be too hard on yourself.
I"m hearing this one on some concert toms using the gate...there is Phiiiiil on the drums 😂
I don't mind having a demo of a plug-in... As long as it's VST3 or ARA compatible with Sonar Producer 8.5.3.
a little pet peeve: but your older mic (or the eq settings) were nicer to listen to, this brings in a lot of boomy low end and is a bit muffled, which I always feel for presenting stuff is a bit too much and you've got a great voice tbh that makes it nice to listen to your "lectures" :)
anyways, thx for this channel and doing these things!
Like all SM7B style I always find they sound kind of claustrophobic and unnatural, great for classic deep voice djs that almost ate the Mike but for normal mic usage it somehow misses the point, is flavour of the moment on RUclips and none of them using the mic chain anf fm/am radio end processing which is what gave its iconic sound, as always it’s not the tool it’s how you use it, surprised Warren hasn’t noticed himself, unfortunately, not his usual high standards, maybe he isn’t doing his own post production these days
@@murraywebster1228 get rid of the sponge, add a small anti-pop filter = VOILÁ
Veri naissss
"Sounds like a triangle" :) Funny but he's got a point! Actually the sound got more transients as a triangle has more sharp points. I once tried to prove things like: onions taste like a trumpet sounds(harmonically speaking) but I couldn't convert neural signals to digital nor I came with any other way to analyze what signals transfer through tongue to brain. But I recently heard it's been possible now. Does anybody wanna pursue this?
yes ofc, i want scalable interfaces with flat design and consistent colors. i mean it doesnt affect funtionality, if u like the looks or not but it affects ur motivation and effiency and how much focus it requires from u. so yes ui and design is very important to me. Edit: fixed typos
Thanks ever so much for sharing your insight

can you control early and late reflections with this?
What are you talking about a 2009 cheese grater? The Mac Pro 'cheese grater' design didn't release until 2019.
What are brand are your new red monitors?
What do you think of KRK 8 studio speakers??
Since I only record analog, and don't use a DAW,this wouldn't work for me ,but it sounds very good. I would tell all my friends that use Pro-Tools (and other DAWs) to check this plug in out. I will stick with my Bricasti M7.
No DAW? Seems inefficient.
@@Drfresh1402 Actually it's faster. I was taught how to record by Bud Hobgood (James Brown's producer) back in Cincinnati Ohio. It's really quite a simple process..I use IZ Radar machines instead of 2 inch 24 track machines.
@@NURREDIN I guess I just don't know the world of Analog enough to understand how it could be efficient but I imagine you know what you are doing.
@@Drfresh1402 How do you think recordings got made before Pro-Tools? It's really not hard at all.The worst part about analog was dealing with the two inch reels of tape and tape hiss. IZ radar has eliminated that problem. It's kust like using a Tascam "portastudio" on a larger scale.
Great review Warren! Love the company and own 3 of their products but was going to pass on this one for awhile ...then I see this run through...Dang it! I could hear Genesis' Mama drums with the gate.. then when you put it on the vocal, I immediately thought of a use for it on one my songs. Great job!
Oh and FWIW..Spaced Out ends up on just about every project now. I find a use for it somewhere.

Honestly I really don't like Baby audio interfaces. But this sounds great.
Haha I really love the GUI! It makes perfect sense to my brain!
@@Producelikeapro lol. I see. Thing is, this GUI reminds of baby products. I guess thats why they call it baby audio.
The verdict is in. I finally tried this plugin today. Wow. It sounds phenomenal. And I really like the work flow. This is bay audio’s best plugin yet. Just wow.
Great review! Is it me or is your voice distorting? It sounds over compressed and leaks open highs.
Gosh, if Warren reviews his PCM 90, the prices on them will triple in a day. ;)
Solid plug in, great video.
Haha I still use my PCM90 on almost every mix! I print the vocal reverbs through it
Vocal magic is awesome
I guess I’m weird I love drums mostly dry … but cool plug in
