The Thomas Jane sighting is new to me - very cool! How does Spider-Man 2 rank among all the Spider-Man movies for you?
though this isn’t a “mcu” movie, this is top 3 of all time for me. I rewatched the trilogy earlier this year and its a great film! I remember being so little and not paying attention to details but damn. This film is great, thats all I have to say
You missed the Punisher cameo. The clip is even in the video, 19:25. That's the stunt double of the actor who played the Punisher, it was meant to be a cameo by the actor, but the studio didn't allow it. It's still meant to be Frank Castle as far as I know.
And before someone points it out: yeah, I know that the Punisher's fight with the Russian is somehow even more bizarre than that in the comics. Go figure.

I also feel like that was supposed to be Adrian Toomes, as Raimi always wanted to do Vulture in the movies but unfortunately never got the opportunity to do it.
Otto told peter that if he keeps something that is complicated as love inside, it is gonna make him sick, which latter shows that he keeps his love for MJ made him really sick and lose his spider powers, when he was about to show his love to mj because MJ asked for his kiss, he regained his powers back
Here’s my theory: the doctor strange from the raimi earth died and the ancient one who is actually from the raimi earth needed doctor strange so the ancient one got the Steven strange from earth 199999 lost his hands and the ancient one had him become the new doctor strange. So that’s my theory, it’s terrible, I know, but it’s a little thing I thought of
Looks like you missed the punisher cameo scene when MJ is running from the wedding. They couldnt get the original actor but they got tom janes stunt double. Further proof that feige was trying to set up the mcu earlier on
17:40 You miss the part where Peter was stopping the train and his suit was ripping off....the very next scene where the train was close to the cliff the rip/scratch in his suit disappeared and the suit became fix again and at 18:11 the sword Harry supposed to kill Peter is the same sword Harry used in spiderman 3 to stab peter when they are both fighting at harry's house
18:48 a fun fact by Harry's dad. His cameo wasn't meant to happen he turned up on set to say Hi then they decided to give him a cameo. So this wasn't scripted at all
I was 21 when this came out. Perfect time, and tone for this movie in my young adulthood. Thank you for bringing up the green bowtie. Great analysis. We didn't deserve Alfred molina.
Yeah, this Spider-man movie trilogy was a huge part of my youth too! Spider-man has always been my favorite superhero & I watched these movies over and over as a kid. Even though Tom Holland is my favorite Spider-man, this is my favorite Spider-man movie!
I would like to think that the glasses at 9:07 foreshadow the duality of his personality. They represent the good and bad side of him seen throughout the movie.
I cannot tell you how many times I watched Spiderman 2 on Dvd after a long day’s of work. This DVD was played numerous times , it was one of my favorites

Agree. My favorite super hero paired with my favorite villain, and done so beautifully well. Seeing Doc Ock on the big screen was like reliving my childhood reading all of those Spidey comics. I love the MCU movies, but this movies deserves just as much praise.
They won the Oscar for visual effects not special effects. Visual Effects are digital effects. Special Effects are physical and real. Although, yes, Joe Frazier is a special effects supervisor.
every time I see anything on the better parts of Spiderman 2 I think about my first watch of this in the theater. We were sitting down and I quietly mentioned to my brother that I thought the guy a couple seats from us was trying to cam the show. It was just something we shook our heads at and tried to ignore the glow coming from under the guy's jacket in a time when smart phones were not a thing. Well, a couple came in with this three or four year old kid and set about two rows in front of the pirateer. When (spoilers) Spidey gets his powers going and chunks a car door at Doc Oc in the later part of the movie, the kid jumped up and screamed as loud as he could "Take THAT you stupid head!" and the theater burst out laughing - all but the pirateer who now had a ruined cam. He immediate stood up and left mumbling something about stupid kids. That kid was the unsung hero of that film that day.
Around 2018, I really got into trying to understand film and the filmmaking process. Attempting to refine my taste. Later, I realized I hadn't seen this movie since, long before I even knew the word cinematography. I figured "Rose tinted glasses, surely" and watched it again. This is a *fantastic* film. After all these years, it's crazy good.
Phil Lamar (who voiced Samurai Jack, Static Shock, Jon Stewart, etc) also has a cameo in the front of the train while Peter is forcing the train to stop.
Spider-Man 2 blessed my childhood ! I remember every scene in this movie to date ! I watched the DVD of Spider-Man 2 so many times to the point that it couldn't play anymore due to numerous scratches from my rewinds ! This movie is the reason why my favourite comic book character is Spider-Man !
I'm so glad you're doing this series. The Rami Spider-Man movies hold such a special place in my heart (especially #2). I straight up cried when I saw it in theatres for the first time.
I'm calling it here, they foreshadowed the MCU multiverse 17 years ago with Spiderman 2. "Dr. Strange." "That's good but it's taken". Think about it, an MCU Spiderman film where he gets help from Dr. Strange and consequentially spilts open the multiverse, bringing in characters from the Raimiverse, the universe where Dr. Strange canonically exists

I remember holding my spiderman toy close to my heart when Peter was throwing out his costume.
I swear, this movie is perfection. Even the CGI still holds up today and may even be better than modern CGI.

What I liked so much about these films is how they got the suit so perfect . It wasnt cheap looking and the raised web chords on it was so cool .

To be Honest with u the early 2000’s had no style it was just bootcut jeans with a button up T-shirt and with some sneakers am I right
I remember watching this movie on repeat in the summer of 2004 too. It’s probably my favorite superhero movie of all time. So good!
