    E-Revo 2.0, yes its great car. Thank you for great review. Minor repairs necessary. Jumped high into the sky and survived all. Two servos no problem, super strong, aligned them before first ride and they don perfect until now. 6 month now. Had ARRMA Outcast EXB and Notorious both 6S and newest version. Outcast after 3rd run servo burnt in park, non skate park just on the grass driving with my 3 year old son..,. and at the same time the receiver was also done at same time. We were not even jumping at all. Guarantee was not successful, repaired for lot of money and SOLD! Notorious after every ride something. bent shock towers over and over, the axis connection to the diffs is super small and not sturdy at all, the E-Revo is twice as big and no fails yet. The plastic body is still alive and little cracks, while ARRMA already ate in same time 3 of them... the cleverness how to put the shock absorbers, ARRMAs just bend, E-Revo. NONE. The wheelie bar.. 3 times off the ARRMA, had to upgrade to metal one, because without the whole body smashes in little time... great money making machine for ARRMA. The E-Revo is still working and after several crazy high jumps the wing falls apart, but is still on the wheelie bar. And n, nobody paid me for this comment, I payed so much money for the ARRMA cars, which is one again broken, my girlfriend just drove on street very fast and the axis jumped out of the diff holder.... AAAAAHHHHH ARRMA never ever again. 2000 Euros spent for junk. ARRMA tough, only if you replace and upgrade everything, ok the wheels you can keep and the motor is still working..... but the base plate is bending, the shocks and shock towers, the wheelie bar and wing fly off after firsts altos, axis bend, servo super weak in stock, the E-Revo is su much better in handling in air and on track, the arm mount to the base plate on ARRMA so small screws they go off in a week and all wobbles and falls apart. All the money I spent I could have burnt that instead and would have been same fun. I will buy for my son a Maxx and maybe for my girlfriend Xmaxx and we will live happily ever after. Traxxas seemed overpriced and plastic shit against ARRMA, but reality, man it made all sense how Traxxas built it. Yesterday last run with family, ARRMA after 15min axis from front wheel to diff popped out and she had to carry this monster back to our car. E-Revo was running all day easy. Sorry for this long writing, but one must say the truth. Unsponsored and unbiased.

    Ive got two erevos and i love them. At first i thought they were hard to work on but once i learned the layout it's been easy work. Your review is pretty spot on.

    Front left pivot ball always pops out
    Mine are essentially fully upgraded so i don't see much breakage often

    Thanks for the review. I’ve held off from buying one as well because everyone says how fragile. I’m now realizing that people fling it 20 ft in the air! I NEVER will do that on purpose. I like to drive and do moderate jumping but mostly ride in dirt and grassy fields. I guess I’ll never understand enjoying my almost thousand dollar car bottom out on ridiculous jumps. I have a revo 3.3 that looks like it’s never been crashed. Just a little dirty lol.
    I’m still torn though between this and the maxx v2. I don’t have time to fool around with nitro.

      its not that fragile. traxxas have upgraded the pushrods and tie rods that was breaking alot on the first revision. never had a problem with that, or had a failur in the suspension parts at all. and i abuse my car. lol
      i crashed into a solid fence post at near full speed, that broke it in two. snapping the chassie and hinge pin, and a few other parts but other than that it held up fine. a few minor parts but all my fault for beating on the car :)

    I think you did a bit of a disservice to Traxxas giving a 1-star rating for value, especially after talking about the phenomenal support Traxxas offers it’s customers. Why doesn’t that figure into the value? Other than that, tho, very well thought out and structured review, with good points supporting your take on each section. Thanks!

    I'm disappointed in the company. Take those servos for example they've been subpar for how many years? they are old stock… You review by the way one of the most honest I've ever seen and accurate. Your point of view though which is natural comes from an expert driver. This car in the hands of a rookie would be a money pit beyond belief. You did say for them to stay away. Yes it's overpriced for just a bunch of plastic. My favorite part of the car is the design it looks cool but it would be better to have something else I think. Anyway was so refreshing to see this top quality video you did a fantastic job … Thanks a lot

  • @DoRC
    @DoRC 3 года назад +4

    Traxxas removed the ability to turn off the ESC with the button because ESC's will slowly drain connected batteries over time when they are turned off. The correct way to turn off a vehicle is always to disconnect the battery so this really isn't an issue.

    • @RazorRC
      @RazorRC  3 года назад +4

      I disagree. Every other RC car you can buy has had an off button for literally decades now. Totally fine to use an OFF button, especially if you are just taking a break for a few minutes. I suspect the real reason is that people kept forgetting to turn it off and burned up their Lipos and then wanted Traxxas to warranty them.

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC 3 года назад +2

      @@RazorRC that's probably reasonable. Personally I've always turned My RCS off by unplugging them because I found that if I didn't I would forget to unplug them occasionally. It's personal preference though and I can see why it would annoy you that the choice was removed.

    I hate the dual servo setup, junk em and throw in a single eco boost. I don’t understand why traxxas doesn’t just put a single decent metal gear servo in. They’d get less support calls complaining about the servos burning out due to poor synchronization and having to send new ones to customers.

    Looking for ideas on tire upgrades. I always felt the stock ones probably contributed to the great handling, but glad to hear that improvements can be made in that department. Out of the box I had the fighting servo issue as well.. Stopped the fun dead as I learned how to set it up, don't overtighten that screw! Since then 2 esc's have popped, and I wasn't hard on it IMO. Currently it's out of the lineup while that gets sorted. Seems like Hobbywing ESC is the way to go, but if anyone wants to chime in on recommends there feel free.

    Yep. It is a special car. It flexes on the terrain, kinda wobbles on it and I like that I can choose to carve or to drift with the controls. I also like the way it flies, but when I jump more then 8m. and don't land well, something on this unusual suspension breaks. these days I break the rocker bolts a lot. It is a pain to get them out. I love it. I even have the Mini VXL and that thing is crazy fast, durable and fun. Both my Revos are fully upgraded and it is because they need it to perform.

    Nice job Razor! I know this is old, as is the E Revo, I thought TRX discontinued it, but not sure. Anyhow, I just received one as a gift from my brother, bone stock, in pretty good shape. TRX calls these 1/10 scale although it is physically the size of a 1/8 truggy. Now that I've started working on it I see why TRX calls it 1/10, because many components are actually only 1/10 size, such as pivot balls, hubs and 3mm hinge pins, LOL. So my first effort will be suspension tuning for track, I have lowered the upper hinge pins, ride height, next up is shocks/rockers. Ordered progression 2 and 3 rockers, push rods and going 50wt on the shocks. See what I got. I have noticed it is top heavy with the high mounted motor/esc/trans.. excited to see what I can improve upon with it, then race it against my brother, he still has an E Revo 2.0.

I had the transmitters stop working for no good reason, a week old. The servo now the only one's I really I had problems with are the Micro servos thraxxas makes but thats because of the plastic gear. When it was happening the lights would flicker every time I turned, with any amount of throttle also applied, wasn't sure what was happening, servo burnt out, and then I found the video (at least at that point, I knew what was happening).

    Mein Revo hatte nur ein Montagefehler vom Werk aus, weshalb mir 2 Pivotballs aus dem Gewinde gerissen sind. Seit der Revo 2.0 mit den dickeren Stahlstangen für die Federung kommt, ist das Teil für den nächsten Atomkrieg gesichert. Lediglich die hintere Aluplatte über den Dämpfern sollte man kaufen und daran die Federwegsbegrenzung von Hot Racing montieren, das reicht an Tuning.
    In Deutschland sind die Corally, Arrma und Tekno Teile alle ähnlich teuer, wie der Revo, da kann ich also keine schlechtere Wertung für geben.

    I have to admit…I lost a lot of respect for your ratings after seeing this. It’s kind of like Doug Demuro’s rating system: totally confusing as to how you get to those ratings. And I’m not even a Traxxas Fanboy.

    • @RazorRC
      @RazorRC  3 года назад +2

      It's the same rating system as all my other reviews. 3 stars average, 5 best in class, 1 worst. As compared to the other 1/8 6S RTR Truggies.

    • @truenewsglobal
      @truenewsglobal 3 года назад +2

      It’s really the value rating that turned me off. You know that we do this all for 1 thing: to have fun. You say in the video (which is the same feeling I have) that you gravitate naturally to that car because it is so much fun. I’ve purchased Arrma and other stuff for more than this car costs and I always say that the E-Revo is my go-to when someone asks me “which is your favorite?”. So, the car is built well (and you know that), it’s super easy to get parts, it’s fast and it’s a ton of fun. That deserves 1 star? Come on man….you know what I mean. You know. 1 star makes me believe there is something else you aren’t saying that you are feeling. Maybe it’s because you don’t like their IP protection methods….maybe they hurt your feelings over some ridiculous demand they made for you to comply when you make your videos…but 1 star value is a joke. You lose your credibility when you do that.
      Just one man’s opinion.

    • @RazorRC
      @RazorRC  3 года назад +3

      @@truenewsglobal Rewatch the video, you're grasping at things that aren't there. I said explicitly that each category is separate, which means Value is its own and not related to performance, durability, support, etc. It only relates to how much the car cost to make vs. how much they charge. For sure all of the metal cars (Arrma, Corally, Hobao, etc.) cost way more to make than an E-Revo, yet Traxxas charges the most. That's pure profit that Traxxas is making off of us, and yes I'm pointing that out.

    • @truenewsglobal
      @truenewsglobal 3 года назад +3

      Razor RC Razor RC Ok so when I first got into model grade cars, I bought the Maxx. I couldn’t wait the 6 days for it to get here, so I bought an Erevo from my LHS. It was $100 more than my Maxx. When I brought it home, I took it out of the box and I immediately noticed how much design was involved in the RC. It had the casing for the batteries, the clip-on body design, all the steering and suspension components and I thought “this is the pinnacle of RC design”. Now, 43 cars later, I still think the Revo is the best car I have. When I said I suspect the “Value” rating had something else behind it, you just proved me right. You think that plastic they used in the Revo is the same plastic you find in a WL Toys car? The Erevo’s design and build quality are amazing. It has things you won’t see on any other RC. That’s why, 3-years later, you are still talking about it/reviewing it/loving it. Because, as you can see with many RC models, you can use metal for a chassis and it will bend, you can use aluminum CV Shafts and they will bend/break right off, you can use Velcro straps for batteries and they will pop off the car on a big jump. Traxxas put a ton of design and technology into the car trying to make it as durable as it is. The ERevo is the favorite of many enthusiasts across RUclips. It’s absolutely in the top 5 of some of the best channels for RC. When I said I lost respect for your ratings, it’s because your ratings don’t really reflect what the ERevo was when it was released and how important it was to the hobby. It’s not what the car is made of, it’s how it’s made and how it works for the car. If they use a special plastic to make the car more durable, why would they make it with metal instead just to appease people who think plastic is cheap? I bet when you first look at a Kraton 6s do you think: “wow this is such high-quality, so well-built”. But how many videos do you see now of people recommending a chassis upgrade?
      Everyone has a channel they respect for ratings. I just wasn’t impressed with the way your ratings went on the ERevo. It’s just my opinion, like you have yours.
