A great dutch band that had lots of hits in Europe. Check out also sometime "When the lady smiles", which is a great song but the clip was a bit controversial (but had a very funny ending). Check it out, but look for the uncensored version.
This song was the outro, credits song. It held me all the way through 10 minutes. 1st time Me and a few others sat till the theatre was empty. Great band, under rated.
Fun fact..Original name of the song was When the Bullet Hits the Bone.. It was suggested to the band by the record company to change the name because of the connotation of violence of bullet hits the bone...Thus we get TWILIGHT ZONE..A kickass masterpiece from an UNDERATED ( in the States) OUTSTANDING BAND!!! HUGE SUCCESSFUL BAND IN Netherlands/Europe!!!!
To put it into context too... the 80’s were the ending of the Cold War when spies were still part of the news and the wall was coming down in Germany. This song has great ‘spy’ lyrics. Era of Miami Vice with Crockett & Tubs. 80’s and early 90’s was a great time for music!
I wish you could have done the version with the extended instrumental in the middle. It's one of the best interludes I've ever heard. Give it a listen sometime. If you're wondering what the guy says at the beginning, it's this - "Somewhere in a lonely hotel room there's a guy starting to realize that eternal fate has turned its back on him. It's 2AM."
40 years 🎂 Most famous rock 🎸 musicians in The Netherlands 🇳🇱 The live versions have extended guitar solos. The only active rock band 🎸 that is older than Golden Earring is The Rolling Stones 💋 When George Kooymans announced he has Lou Gehrig's disease, the band broke up. 😢 Golden Earring was 60 years old: 1961 to 2021.
Good band from my hometown The Hague. And fun fact their existence is 1 year longer even than the Rolling stone. Founded in 1961 and the stone in 1962.
They started in the 1960s and sounded a lot different back then. The reason they were so tight was they were together for so long. Rinus Gerristsen, George Kooymans and Barry Hay were in the band from 1967 and the newcomer, drummer Cesar Zuiderwijk, joined in 1970. There were a couple of others who joined and left but they had that quartet for fifty years. Fun fact: in 1978, the year The Police released "Roxanne", Golden Earring had an album track with the same name. The next year The Police released "Message In A Bottle" and Ian Gillan's then band, Gillan, had an album track with the same name.
One of my all time favorite songs. This band was around longer than any other. From 1961 to 2021. One of the founding members had ALS and they retired.
This song was dedicated to my son in law when he served on the marines... he was in Afghanistan he lost 3 marines to a ied explosion...well they tracked down the man that did it and my son in law put him down... they dubbed him... the hitman
Golden Earring: When the lady smiles. Long blonde animal. Going on the run. The devil made me do it. These 4 songs you probably should have a listen to.
I was listening and singing along to this song on the bus in high school one day. The girl across the aisle from me on the bus then told me to “get with the times”. I just shrugged off what she said and kept going.
You should also check-out other songs from the same album as "Radar Love," like "The Vanilla Queen," "Candy's Going Bad," and "Are You Receiving Me." That album is consider a 70's classic and it was their best, so it has a lot of really good songs on it.
This song/band was one of the ones that really set the stage for the innovative music of the 80s. You can hear hints of their sound in a lot of bands of that era...going for a badass tough-guy song/sound that you can dance your ass off to.
From their album MOONTAN, listen to CANDY'S GOING BAD and VANILLA QUEEN. These 2 have always been my favorites. For that era, the production values on the album versions are STILL jawdropping. Extremely creative and ambitious stuff for the rock genre.
An early 80s rock classic. You should react to the album version, which is over 7 minutes long and has some fantastic instrumental portions after the first two verses. I have been trying to find the album (Cut) from which this song comes to add to my collection.
@@debjorgo No this was not the long version. The video version is over 3 minutes shorter than the album version, which comes in at a little less than 8 minutes.
@@dougclark7077 This had the part where it slowed down and you have the bass playing, then it picks up with the guitar solo. I have the long version on the Continuing Story of Radar Love best of collection. It is 7:53 minutes. I'll have to give it a listen and see what this version here is missing. Love the song.
Oh man Jayvee this one is a beautiful classic right here! I’m so glad you reacted to it! I actually reacted to it myself in a way. I’ve not heard it in a hot minute! I remember being a kid when I 1st heard it back in the day. Super nostalgic! Thx for always being so honest & cool..with your input.. Yes, “Radar Love” is definitely awesome. The two songs have only gotten better with time. Have a great w-kend my friend! ✌🏼&💙
First of all, you should very much listen to the lyrics, as they're based on "The Bourne Identity" books, and was meant as a serious topic. Secondly, this is the heavily edited version that was made to fit the video(the mostly well-done video, but for the incredulous dancers scene that appear out of nowhere and detract from the seriousness of the theme), the full album version is a sonic treat, with an extended instrumental that highlights the band members' musical talent.
They have some really good songs. The two you mentioned were their big hits but they definitely have more material worth checking out. As soon as I find my cd I’ll list some!
Oh, this was such a great listen and review!!! They are an amazing band! I saw how much you were enjoying Mariah Carey, so thought you might want to take your magic carpet and float it back to this studio version. I know you'll be wishing you were there!!! Mariah Carey and Boyz to Men-One Sweet Day.
They did have a following, and they are probably worth exploring, even though they only had 2 hits....they were MASSIVE hits. I'm sure there's more there than most see.
It's a shame that you can hardly see anything from the video. My favorite album by G.E. is "together" and especially the songs "Jangeline" and "Southern Germany". Very good arrangements and music. George Kooymans is a great songwriter and guitarist. The band started in 1961 - 3 years before the Rolling Stones and if George Kooymans wasn't ill they would be the oldest group still together. Greets fom hamburg (germany) @all
Holy flashback! This was such a huge hit in the 80's. No matter the genre of music you were into you could dig this 💜
Agree! I remember this song at school dances!
This video was in heavy rotation on MTV in the 80s. Great Dutch band!! That bass line is everything!
The bass part is so fucking easy, AND SO FUCKING COOL!
A great dutch band that had lots of hits in Europe. Check out also sometime "When the lady smiles", which is a great song but the clip was a bit controversial (but had a very funny ending). Check it out, but look for the uncensored version.
I know "Radar Love" is their big hit, but I always liked this one better. Great sound, good story, and hits hard.
Same here. Check out their acoustic live version, its a killer

i prefer "when the lady smiles"
I love that you just let it play. It's hard to stop with this song. 😄
Fun fact, this song was written as a tribute to Jason Bourne
This was one I’d blast when driving. Still sounds good, really holds up after all these years!
Yeah, but it’s Radar Love that gets you into trouble while driving!
Was just thinking about Radar Love after hearing this😁🎸🎶
Me too!!!
"It's 2AM, the fear is gone..." I always crank up the volume on this one! This is such an awesome song! Love it!💯💯💯
Just don't crank up the volume at 2AM please. 🙂
Awesome song! Twilight Zone was an old school TV show then a movie back in 1983.
This song was the outro, credits song. It held me all the way through 10 minutes. 1st time Me and a few others sat till the theatre was empty. Great band, under rated.

Love this song and it had one of the coolest videos on MTV back in the day lol😎
One of my all-time favorite songs. Love it. Love Golden Earring.
It's 2AM."
Yep. The video is a bastardized version of an epic song.
I've always loved this song.
One of the great early theatrical videos on MTV. Great song. These fellas had talent.

You've heard of gangster rap, well this is gangster rock. Love how the drummer make's the sound of gunfire.
They have a list of verry good songs. We love them.
❤👊from Holland

This band is so underrated. So many good songs that are not explored properly.
I forgot about this song. Really like it too. I'm sorry that Radar Love was blocked. LOVE that song
One of my all time favorite songs. This band was around longer than any other. From 1961 to 2021. One of the founding members had ALS and they retired.
This is my favorite song!
Golden Earring is the longest performing rock band in the world.
Unfortunately not anymore because guitarist George Kooymans had to stop because of terminal ALS :-(
So songs to check out: "Johnny Make Believe", "Ce Soir", "Bloody Buccaneers", "The Naked Truth", "Mood Indigo", "Hold me now", "Temporary Madness"...
I love watching you discover music that’s been part of my life for decades.
Their song, When the Lady Smiles is also fantastic
This song was dedicated to my son in law when he served on the marines... he was in Afghanistan he lost 3 marines to a ied explosion...well they tracked down the man that did it and my son in law put him down... they dubbed him... the hitman
One of the leadsingers was diagnosed with ALS last year. It was only then that they officially dissolved the band.
George Kooymans founding member and lead guitarist was diagnosed with the evil disease ALS.
🌟 GREAT DRIVING SONG 🚗
Golden Earring: When the lady smiles. Long blonde animal. Going on the run. The devil made me do it. These 4 songs you probably should have a listen to.
"When the lady smiles" - "Another 45 miles to go" etc. etc. 👌🏻
I think someone handed you a list of my favorites and you just reacted to them all today haha. What a great day for reactions from you!
Other great songs from them: Going to the Run, Burning Stuntman, Long Blonde Animal, The Devil Made me do it, When The Lady Smiles
“When the lady smiles “was one of there biggest hits over here in europe 👍🏻
I feel like this song and Radar Love are two of the best rock songs of all time... even with a decade apart. And the don't normally play in English.
Always sang in English.
When the lady smiles! Check it out!
She flies on strange wings ..
A great song .. the best from GOLDEN EARRING
Ah.....this takes me back to my sophomore year in bigh school. Cruisin with my friends on the weekend and this song just blasting! Great damn times.
I was listening and singing along to this song on the bus in high school one day. The girl across the aisle from me on the bus then told me to “get with the times”. I just shrugged off what she said and kept going.
Volume up when this one comes on!! 🔊
Love to cruise in my car blasting this and "Radar Love." 🥳🔥❤
Ah, I can still hear it coming through those 6X9's in my Trans Am!
Camaro here.. thought I was cutting edge when had rear speakers hidden in the rear pillars.
Those were the days man
That pick slide before the chorus is everything!
The band stopped when one of the singers (George Kooiymans) was diagnose ALS last year.
Timeless song! Still hits hard!! Totally agree about the lyrics! Weird video but that's the 80's style, lol!! Love it! Great reaction! 😁
I love this song. Your reactions are awesome dude.

There is an extended version :)
Yes, been waiting for this! You’re right, I think it was ‘82, when I was 9. Great reaction J!
They have a huge discography.
first time ever walking into a bar at 19 this was being sung by the band always stuck with me...
One of my favorite song in high school.
Always on my playlists... ❤️
This song/band was one of the ones that really set the stage for the innovative music of the 80s. You can hear hints of their sound in a lot of bands of that era...going for a badass tough-guy song/sound that you can dance your ass off to.
Try their third hit "when the lady smiles".
From their album MOONTAN, listen to CANDY'S GOING BAD and VANILLA QUEEN. These 2 have always been my favorites. For that era, the production values on the album versions are STILL jawdropping. Extremely creative and ambitious stuff for the rock genre.
Great song by them

Okay. I listened to the longer version. Great song!! This version here ends kind of abruptly too.
Check out "Golden Earring - When the Lady Smiles"
Euro-Rock at it's best, 80's style.
All The best things come from The Netherlands
i was 13 when this came out, i remember it in my bones even the same way today
When the lady smiles also great song and video
I rock this one on my retro playlist even today
This is such an awesome song played it 4 times in a row

First heard this song in oddly enough was Brad Jones aka Cinema Snob's movie Paranoia. Been in love wih it ever since.
Absolutely love this song
Excellent reaction/review! Thank you.
The music video is the short version. Check the 8 minute RUclips video of their 1982 live Rockpalas concert.

Yeah a GREAT song. Golden Earring brings it for real. Dealing man, dealing.
love this song!
That beat - DJ's mixing this is 🔥
Also Check out the band " Diamond Head - Call Me"
Love that you got ELO on the wall.
These are the only monster hits, but I like She Flies on Strange Wings, Mad Love's Coming.
I ❤️ your reactions to the stuff I grew up with!
Some of the best "pick drags" ever.
They did have a following, and they are probably worth exploring, even though they only had 2 hits....they were MASSIVE hits. I'm sure there's more there than most see.
Many hits in the Netherlands, their home country.
I have been waiting for this!!!! 😁
A great Dutch band. Enjoy it. I can also recommend their song : She flies on strange wings.. Greetings from the Netherlands. 🇳🇱🇳🇱🖐️🖐️🎶🎶💕💕

It’s hard to get a good song this that classic rock when when heard the best
Great dutch band!
Thx for reacting 🎤🎸🎶💜
The Isley Brothers "Leaving Me Is Easy "
While you're in this groove, you need to listen to Donnie Iris, Love is Like a Rock. On fire tonight. It was worth the wait for some new ones.
When the lady smiles from them is awesome!
Please check it out
It don’t get any better than this.
Classic
Pretty ko0l group! I've never heard them before but this was good.
Album version is much longer and better. One of those perfect 80s songs/videos.
These songs are literally from the same album. Radar Love was all them, this was intended for a Bond flick but the deal fell through.
