Ok so the list of goodies to hand out so far is Saint-14 - perfect paradox Daughter of light - truth Gotcha ill make sure to do so at the first convenience
@@andersonneil2293 if you read the lore tab or watch byfs video on it it says that we the player are the one who gives saint-14 perfect paradox having forged it ourselves and that he hopes to return it to us someday
The whole lore of Perfect Paradox lies in the name. Osiris was supposed to retrieve the weapon from the corpse of Saint-14 on Future Mercury, while simultaneously being tasked with giving the weapon to Saint-14 from either the present or the past. An endless loop with two factors that exist at the same time but simultaneously shouldn't. A Perfect Paradox. (I will admit that I may have missed something here, although I'm not sure)
I think this is without a doubt Mithrax, and here's why. On top of all the very good reasons you listed (spending time with Awoken, recognizing other Wolves, and the obvious House of Light comparison (see Stolen Intelligence: Outliers), he's also the only Fallen we know of that was good friends with Sjur Eido, even stopping to honor her at her grave with his fireteam. The most important connected piece of Lore to this is 'Misraaks' in the Dreaming City book. In this we see the beginnings of his relationship with Sjur, but more importantly, we see them conversing in Eliksni. The important bit from this is that you see Sjur name herself, and then Mithrax replies, "Misraaks. Velask, Si-yu-riks." Both in this reply and Sjur's next line they say 'Velask' obviously as a form of Fallen greeting. You can see this both in this Lore Card, and also in the Truth lore itself, where in the last line, to the hatchling, he starts with "Velask, kelekh." From this we can extrapolate that when Sjur says 'Vel', it's probably like shortening "Hello" to "Hi". Now, surmising that this is Mithrax, who is the Daughter of Light? My theory: Eramis. Or if not her, the Daughter is likely dead. I believe it is no accident that we ended up with the note, and Mithrax has already demonstrated his ability to plant leads for us in obscure places, as well as his trust of us and willingness to work together (see Outbreak Perfected's Lore). Either Mithrax is passing this weapon onto us because we will be able to use it, while she could not... or he no longer wishes to grant it to her, if she is indeed Eramis. My thoughts on this are that the reason we see this Lore about the Hatchling in Truth, is because it's just that: the Truth. He's telling us that this Hatchling he discovered in the wreckage of Devil ships has grown up to be Eramis, and has pitted herself against us, refusing to compromise with Guardians. She was released during the Prison of Elders riot, around the same time Mithrax found his Fireteam, but now rallies Devils in order to destroy us, and even wishes to reclaim and use SIVA. This would explain why Mithrax knew about the raid on the Cryptarch's Vault for Outbreak, and also why he gives us this information now, after we have proven ourselves an ally and helped stop her. In the Outbreak lore, you see his Fireteam feel as though they should be the ones to accompany him, and in the last line, the Warlock states, "We walk this hardship-path with joyful hearts." I believe their reluctance to let him go with us, and the 'hardship', stems not from fear that he'll die, but because this is personal for him. I would wager that this game of Fallen Kells ends in a tragedy, with Mithrax being forced to capture or kill his adopted daughter, who now stands against him to wage war on the enemies he's decided to turn into friends. Or, barring that, he wants US to do it. He's seen us be merciful, he knows what all we've accomplished, and now, he trusts us. Either with Shadowkeep or shortly after, I think the Fallen situation is going to come to a conclusion, and it's going to be a lot sadder and more impactful than anyone's seen coming. That's all my thoughts, and as always this was a great video Byf. The Fallen lore since Forsaken has been so juicy (for those who don't know, this has all largely actually been the story of Mithrax and how he got to this point. His full title is Mithrax, the Forsaken), and I can't wait to hopefully see House Light become our allies. Imagine: Eliksni Guardians!
Byf, I don’t know you personally but your videos are amazing! The tidbit about Gjalhorn, and how it was forged out of melted armor from those fallen in the Battle of Twilight Gap was just the little details that keep me interested in knowing more about this game. I don’t read lore that much but I like to listen and share with my girlfriend and family. Dude keep it up. Also your video on Saint-14 will always be my favorite. Your storytelling is phenomenal and gosh it brought me to tears to hear it told so well. Saint-14 is my favorite character in the games lore besides the ones we all love. Still though, keep it up. I can’t wait to share this with my girlfriend and see her try to keep up with me just glowing sharing this cool information for a game I love so much too.
I love how everything in the lore seems to be pointing to the end of life like the series or at least the first iteration of Destiny is coming to an end. With The Gaurdians, The Left overs of the Fallen, and Calus's forces coming together to face the end and whatever the Darkness is bringing along with it.
I feel like there's another question we need to ask here: How did the note to the daughter end up on the Leviathan? Could Sekris -- Calus's former Shadow of Eliksni -- be involved somehow?
Bruh no matter how where I am, how old I am, or even how good the video was, the way byf ends his videos with that Latin phrase and the see you star side quote will always fill me with inspiration and bliss
It's lore like this that just reinforces my thought that Destiny would make a fantastic single-player story-based rpg. It has the POTENTIAL of great story, and a beautiful and amazingly designed world for it to take place in. Sadly, I don't think that will ever happen.
If it is Mithrax, we have a good excuse. "Out of millions of thieving, scavenging, murdering fallen in the system, how was I supposed to know it was from the one good one?"
If we encounter the Daughter of Light, then making her fight us for ownership of the Truth is in keeping with the idea of "being worthy". One final challenge, to face the Guardian who keeps the Truth, and to prove herself even worthier than a lightbearer! That would be pretty cool, I think.
Anyone else think that it would have been cool if there were Hive/Fallen hybrids when we fought the Mindbender? I mean in his lore it did say he married a brood mother. What do you think Byf?
Absolutely loving all this Fallen Lore. They are the race that intrigues me the most, very closely followed by the Hive. It was the lore around Mithrax that has made me so interested in the Fallen.
My inherited items were my Grandpa Pete's watch, my Grandpa Ken's rifle, and my Grandpa Carl's black powder revolver. For the curious, my grandma was married to both Pete and Ken, separately. Two of the greatest men I had the pleasure of being related to.
Would it be possible for Mithrax to be the child and Variks is the one who found Mithrax? I feel that battle mentioned in the lore could be during the Wolf Rebellion or more likely a battle before since the Fallen are led in chains afterwards.
Much like FFXIV had the "Gaius van Baelsar until proven otherwise" theory for every new mysterious male figure after vanilla ARR (until he was actually revealed to be alive and well years later), can we have a "Mithrax until proven otherwise" theory going for Destiny?
4:05 what if it wasn’t an enemy sniper? Would the Truth missile keep going until it found some random sniper that had nothing to do with it? That would be hilarious… Edit: we also had our chance to return the Truth to its rightful owner last year. Misraaks is probably pissed.
Byf, it’s likely that “Vel” is short for “Velask,” which in the meeting between Sjur and Mithrax, seems to be an Eliksni word for greeting. Sjur shortened it to “vel” just like we shorten “hello” to “hey” or “hi.” It seems almost certain that the Fallen of the Truth Lore tab is Mithrax.
There is a secret guardian; he appears only to those who are worthy of his guidance. He does not believe in triumph, nor victory, but he believes in loss among friends over forgetting what he lives for. (He's usually on Mars but only on legacy consoles)
Theory: the daughter of light is Eramis and the Truth is given to us due to their parent figure (Mithrax?) becoming disappointed with her and the path she chose to trail. Father vs daughter would be an interesting dynamic for Mithrax and Eramis and would be another layer within the Eliksini civil conflict.
@UCOK6nay2-VXTSEZo0BqpFYg Well, we do know that the daughter of light was likely a devil if she was found on a devils skiff, so it could still be Eramis by some definition. And the story in the rocket launcher likely happened a long time ago, since Sjur was still alive. Eramis could have dropped everything once she found out that she was originally adopted. Plus, why would the Truth come out now, just after Zero Hour? Could be a coincidence, or could be evidence that Mithrax made up his mind regarding his former daughter.
The problem with that theory though is that he calls his daughter by "Daughter of Light", indicating that it was written after Mithrax created his "House of Light" after Forsaken (if it is Mithrax).
There is a lore entry in the Dreaming City lore book that mentions a Vandal named Misraaks. It’s also mentioned that Sjur saves him from falling off a cliff which probably started their relationship.
Byf, I have confirmed this is mithrax, there is another lore card, I forgot on what item in the game, where sjur eido has a fallen prisoner, she tries to be kind and untie his bounds, and he attempts to run away, and jump off a cliff, sjur catches him, and he gives her his name, and also says that he is of house wolves, this name is Vel, Same from the truth lore book, I believe Vel was Mithrax's name when he was of wolves, or atleast his given birth name because this lore card is in the perspective of Vel and he jumps off the cliff because he feels it would be better and more honorable to die instead of become a prisoner, he feels that he has failed his captain, which was apparently also his mother but sjur catches him and re-binds him,
It makes more sense to me that it was Variks that left Truth to be found. For a couple reasons. First being: in the lore, it describes a vandal. Mithrax is a captain and was when Sjur Ido found him. Secondly: Variks spoke and I am assuming could read and write in Awoken. And finally, as the warden on the prison of elders, he's have had the access to the prison to stash the chest. Just my opinion. Live the lore vids!
The lore card for Truth just tugs at me every time I read/hear it. I want to know more about that baby Eliksni that was found and the one that found her.
While I can't financially support this year, I want to let you know to not stop supporting charity! You're doing an awesome job, and I wouldn't skip this for the world. I can't imagine there are people that hate you bring it up in every video.
Although I'm not claiming it is Mithrax, it is extremely likely that it is. Not only because of all the points you talked about, but also because the Quest texts are written in riddles, which is a signature thing for anything Mithrax-related (Rat King, Outbreak Prime and the Fallen Transponder).
This is pretty cool to think that the “Truth” could lead to the foundation of a pact with The fallen. Working with the fallen could open so many stories it drives me crazy that it’s going to be a long time before this and so many other stories play out to a conclusion.
What if it is Variks? He fits a lot of the same criteria, knows Awoken and Eliksni, was part of the whole reef war thing. He is also the last of his house, a vandal calling himself Kell of Kells per the entry "outliers" in "stolen Intelligence." All I am saying is Variks fits the description pretty well, and would have the ties to the PoE to not only place the weapon, but the sort of emotional attachment to the place that would lead him to call it important.
If there's one thing in Destiny lore that I've never really been able to find data on it's the different Weapon Foundries. The only lore cards are for their exotics which rarely have anything telling about the foundries themselves. What was "Nadir"? All we know about them is basically the lore card for Nemesis Star (which is pretty much a joke about how we know nothing about them). SUROS, Hakke, and Omolon just kind of "Exist" VEIST kinda falls into that same camp. Crux/Lomar is a bit of an exception: We know about Feizel Crux and Victor Lomar as well as a few details about their creations (Dragon's Breath being my personal favorite, never was very popular though except for that time we all found out it could crash the game. Remember that?) I think it would be interesting if we could put some faces behind the guns. Maybe a different kind of faction rally? That's kinda what I was hoping for from Black Armory.
uhhhh, I really want to play this strike in the background but I've never seen it before and I've already got most of the pinacle weapons, most of the newer quest exotic (only missing the brand new hand cannon) done menagerie a lot and finished every raid a couple times. Where do I find this blood queen strike?!?!?
The Daughter of Light is absolutely the adoptive daughter of Mithirax. It is clear that this is just after his captivity and his change of heart, and we know it is not Variks as he uses Variks' Elksyni name. Daughter of Light would suggest that she is a member of the House of Light. I think it may also be a setup for the Daughter of Light to potentially become the Kell of Light, by becoming a guardian.
for the longest time I thought this quest had something to do with uldren because of the fallen and awoken speech and most of all because when I was getting the nessus chest I saw in the chat "uldren is alive near" but then after I watched this video I realized that it was simply some guy named "uldren is alive"
Man I miss D1 Truth. That thing was so amazing in Trials. Loved when it would 180 & dive bomb someone that jumped over a wall thinking they had gotten away.
One thing I wnated to know lore wise is the sound effect for Shriekers in D2. It's really creepy. When they're attacking they scream this low voiced sound. Can't explain it all I know is that it's cool af but creepy as hell
I love the destiny community because we will do so many things just to help people and I love it. Also I dont mind the Saint June shout outs. Keep up the great work and your the best
I haven't "stole" Truth yet. Man I would love to see a Destiny franchise on the Big screen. More specifically a movie about Twilight Gap, Six Fronts and the Great Disaster, after those movies are made I would like to see a live action series on pat with the quality of GoT, about The Collapse, following the stories of Cayde, The Drifter, Zavala, Shaxx, Saladin, Ana Bray, Ikora, Osiris, Mara and Uldren Sov, and every enemy species of the Guardians. Just talking about that gets me hyped.
So, the Eliksni can go ascendant also? Or do you think this new possibly unnamed Eliksni had their awoken allies hide the truth and some of the maps within the true vision/ascendant areas?
Hold up. I'm at 0:31, right? The question struck a chord in my memory and feels spot. It's story time!! (I guess) Back when it was just Vanilla Destiny 2, or rather when it first came out, I was estatic. I was hype but I never had pre-ordered the game. Or bought it on launch day. Why? I was broke. So for the next few weeks or so after the initial launch I had been getting as much money as I can to get Destiny 2. I wanted to be apart of the fun this time instead of idly watching every Guardian go through not only the amazingness of the Destiny franchise but also the hardships. I was always enchanted by the lore, dazzled by everyone popping their supers in the Crucible. I was determined to get Destiny 2. Even if the game got harder, even if expansions keep coming. I was determined to play cause I didn't want to be left behind. I wanted to be apart of something special. So when I first got it. I was the happiest little lad I could be. (Wow I really got off track also track. Thank you for reading!)
You say stole, but I didn't see anyone else do the damn quest steps. Sorry Daughter of Light, or whoever, but I'm keeping this damn thing. (In all seriousness, awesome and informative vids, as usual. Thank you for helping keep me posted on fascinating background lore to the game, Byf!)
It’s been a year, I think with the lore that we have learned about Missraks, it should confirm he is the maker of this iteration of truth, his daughter is the daughter of light. It would be perfect if they did a catalyst for truth this season or the next.
I think it’s Mithras and the hatchling is Erasmis, the new Devils leader. He tried to raise her as his own and she learned that she was originally from the Devils and he had helped the awoken to defeat them
"Vel" is just a shortened version of "velask", which appears to be a formal greeting. Thus "vel" is just an informal greeting. Like saying "hi" instead of "hello".

I'm glad exclusivity will be gone come September because I've never played the strike in the background and it looks very fun - very fun... *INDEED*

The note was probably sucked up by it from Nessus.
Bruh no matter how where I am, how old I am, or even how good the video was, the way byf ends his videos with that Latin phrase and the see you star side quote will always fill me with inspiration and bliss

Me: whos cutting onions in here?
O shit, it is Mithrax and it's for Eido the truth keeper!!! How cool this was ready for her since D1 😱🤓🥶
Any reason you didnt touch on the potential translation of the eliksni in the lore tab?
It's lore like this that just reinforces my thought that Destiny would make a fantastic single-player story-based rpg. It has the POTENTIAL of great story, and a beautiful and amazingly designed world for it to take place in. Sadly, I don't think that will ever happen.
So now is this confirmed to have been for Eido?
Yep, Eido says in a recording that Mithrax found her in a vent.
Byf I’m never annoyed or frustrarte de I am honored to have a content creator try as much as you do for the children you have my greatest respect
If it is Mithrax, we have a good excuse.
"Out of millions of thieving, scavenging, murdering fallen in the system, how was I supposed to know it was from the one good one?"
Not a very compelling argument in the name of positive Eliksni-guardian relations lol
Byf: Im gonna talk about the rocket launcher truth
Also byf: Were actually not gonna talk about truth
I admit I had not read any of this specific lore yet, and this was way more than I was expecting for a story behind this weapon. Way cool.
Has anything happened concerning Uldren? like his resurrection was awhile ago I haven’t heard anything since.
Sam Husted They got asked in the E3 Q&A and they said they don’t know where they’re going with him.
@tea bag that statement aged so well didn't it?
That would be hilarious…
Edit: we also had our chance to return the Truth to its rightful owner last year. Misraaks is probably pissed.
I always love stuff about the fallen, especially anything that could do with House of Light. I hope Bungie does something big with it soon.
Hearing these shoutouts aren’t irritating, it’s saving lives man!

How everything comes in full circle lol
Byf, I will never consider your St. Judes shoutouts "irritating." Its a very good cause your doing this for
I've been binging so much TSLAYP that I got caught off guard by the normal intro despite me knowingly clicking on this video to learn about lore
Interesting plot twist. The hatchling is Eramis The Ship Stealer. She attacks us to get her rocket back.
Some part of me hopes that this 'Daughter of Light' appears in an expansion or something in Destiny 2. Maybe her and Mithrax's House of Light.
There is a secret guardian; he appears only to those who are worthy of his guidance.
He does not believe in triumph, nor victory, but he believes in loss among friends over forgetting what he lives for.

What if the daughter of light became Eramis? And she never claimed the truth because she is estranged from her father?
No eramis is a old house of devils fallen
@@viktor1337w no she's "classical fallen pirate of the old ways." A young fallen could still follow the old ways.
@@neilaaron4122 she is from before the whirlwind
dude this comment is ancient, from before beyond light came out. it was just a theory, A LORE THEORY!
@@neilaaron4122 i know but whenever i see an incorrect lore theory i have to correct it no matter when its from.
For once I don't feel bad for not finishing one of the Exotic Quests. They all seem to dead-end for me on a task I can't do alone.
Byf, I have confirmed this is mithrax, there is another lore card, I forgot on what item in the game, where sjur eido has a fallen prisoner, she tries to be kind and untie his bounds, and he attempts to run away, and jump off a cliff, sjur catches him, and he gives her his name, and also says that he is of house wolves, this name is Vel, Same from the truth lore book, I believe Vel was Mithrax's name when he was of wolves, or atleast his given birth name because this lore card is in the perspective of Vel and he jumps off the cliff because he feels it would be better and more honorable to die instead of become a prisoner, he feels that he has failed his captain, which was apparently also his mother but sjur catches him and re-binds him,
Bruh…
That "Truth don't miss it's taking a Scenic Rout" made me fucking Laugh. That's a good one
Mithrax was a captain when he met Sjur
Best lore channel ever
SUROS, Hakke, and Omolon just kind of "Exist"
VEIST kinda falls into that same camp.
Crux/Lomar is a bit of an exception: We know about Feizel Crux and Victor Lomar as well as a few details about their creations (Dragon's Breath being my personal favorite, never was very popular though except for that time we all found out it could crash the game. Remember that?)
I think it would be interesting if we could put some faces behind the guns. Maybe a different kind of faction rally? That's kinda what I was hoping for from Black Armory.
What if Eido becomes the first Eliksni Risen?
uhhhh, I really want to play this strike in the background but I've never seen it before and I've already got most of the pinacle weapons, most of the newer quest exotic (only missing the brand new hand cannon) done menagerie a lot and finished every raid a couple times.

"You merely adopted War, I was made for it shaped by it"

I would just like to take this opportunity to point out that I haven't stolen truth...yet.
He tried to raise her as his own and she learned that she was originally from the Devils and he had helped the awoken to defeat them
I can still scroll to the bottom of the comments without loading extra. That never happens. Must have just come out. Looking forward to the video
"Vel" is just a shortened version of "velask", which appears to be a formal greeting. Thus "vel" is just an informal greeting. Like saying "hi" instead of "hello".
