He turned them to jelly and used it to create hallucinations into his throne world for guardians during vanilla leviathan raid. So they most likely won't return.

What makes Ghaul seem more badass now is that he survived a full blown assault from the Fulminator. It’s probably the injury that led to him having to wear is mask.

In the lore for one of the menagerie armor pieces, it fortells that Mithrax becomes a Shadow and then dies, prompting Variks to try and take his place. Calus then has us kill Variks since there could only be one individual from each race as a Shadow, and also because he betrayed us. I just thought it was interesting cause the Baron of Shanks was also a Shadow. Maybe he considers Fallen and Elkisni different races.
It may be the one that was fighting with mithrax to maybe recruit him or something since we learn that later Calus will want Mithrax as a eliksni’s shadow.

Sorry for going off-topic, but I have two questions: -Why are the Cabal capable of walking around without pressurized combat gear in Destiny 2? Is it because the in-game environments are more akin to their natural habitat than Mars in Destiny 1? -Does Forsaken treat all players as D1 veterans? It is assumed that the player Guardian IS the same Guardian from Destiny 1 yes, in the attack on the tower Shaxx refers to the Guardian as “Saladin’s Young Wolf”, a unique title granted to the player at the end of Rise of Iron in Destiny 1 as they become the first new Iron Lord in hundreds of years and are amongst four living Lords under the Banner alongside Saladin, Efrideet and Shaxx
Why do I feel as though there's eventually going to be a divide among Guardians that is actually reflected in game content, similar to WoW's Alliance and Horde? Shadows vs Guardians?

There are interesting similarities between the Lore of the Shadows and the Lore on the Opulent Stalker armor set for Hunter. On the Armor Lore Tab it describes how we as The Emperor's shadows kill some of our friends. Friends include Ikora Rey, Ace Resistant Amanda Holiday, Osiris, Master of Ceremonies Eva Lavante, and Zavala. Lot of the same terminology is used and how they meet their end is close to how the original Shadows met their end.

Thanks to you and your awesome vids Calus is becoming more and more intresting. I wish bungie would do a deal with HBO and make a high budget TV series about destiny. The lore is next level but gets totally overlooked/missed when playing the game.
I like how all these great beings died in an attempt to kill Ghaul , meanwhile a guardian comes up to him *when he is at his strongest* and his whole legion , and kills him and the army with a shitty blue weapon or one shot with celestial
You could make a movie out of this shit. Evil vs evil. All characters are antagonists in the grand scheme of things but they fight each other. The main character (Ghaul) gets hunted all throughout while the other baddies fall one by one. Imagine Infinity War where Ghaul is Thanos but the Avengers trying to stop him are also “bad guys” themselves.
The story of the Shadows always felt almost like an inverse Wharf Effect to me. But instead of having a tough character getting wrecked to show us how dangerous Ghaul was, we’re being told of the crazy-badass people that Ghaul killed offscreen in order to establish how awesome WE are for having killed him.

Yeah but they lost against Ghaul who any power lvl 100 Guardian can smoke and we've only gotten stronger since then. Can't imagine them being any kind of threat.
Unrelated question but I've been grinding the crucible while also losing my sanity to try and get the Broadsword pulse rifle. I've gotten to the part where I need to get precision kills and am wondering if the final quest step really requires me to reset my valor rank five time? I partially dont wanna know but at the same time I dont think my mind can take much more...

In the menagerie, Calus mentions a 7th Shadow which was a hive Knight who was killed by a guardian.
