- Edward, Earl of Wessex was born on March 10, 1964, at Windsor Castle in London, England. The youngest child of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, Edward was christened as Edward Antony Richard Louis on May 2, 1964. Edward has three siblings: Charles, Prince of Wales; Anne, Princess Royal and Prince Andrew, Duke of York.
Edward was a bookish child, who preferred to spend time alone. He studied with a tutor at Buckingham Palace until he was 7 years old, at which time he enrolled in a pre-preparatory school in Kensington called Gibbs School. In 1972, he moved on to Heatherdown Preparatory School in Berkshire. In 1977, Edward started attending his father's alma mater, the Gordonstoun School in Moray, Scotland, where he excelled in sports. He was an active participant in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award program and even took home a Gold Award.
In 1982, Edward left Gordonstoun with several A-levels and registered for two terms at the Collegiate School in Wanganui, New Zealand. While in attendance, he also served as a house tutor and supervised drama classes. In 1986, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Jesus College, Cambridge.

He is interestingly the only one with an unblemished career out of the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh's children. Despite that, I love the entire Royal Family all the same.
I rem when the press slammed Edward for a failed production company. Can't say I rem anyone leaping to his defense when he needed to start taking on royal duties bc his dad was getting old.
Seems that's about all we ever heard about Edward, his failed company.
2 things. I watched his documentaries and thought them quite good. He chose interesting subjects and was a good presenter. Also, as for being accused of using his title for personal gain, who better to tell stories of the royal subjects, places, and items?
I think it was just times changing and the royals like Anne and Andy and Edward were likely never going to rule. That family didn't even seem to be keen to marry other royalty and rule other places, so they were free to pursue personal interests. Just bc you are "Royal" shouldn't be a lifelong obligation to work at that 24-7. I thought it was very cool that Edward cut out a niche for himself, and, as the baby of the family, was allowed to follow his bliss.

Anne was 11 years older than Diana. They would not have been childhood friends. Andrew was a year older than Diana and Edward was three years younger. So they likely knew one another in childhood. I think Diana had been mentioned as a possible bride for Andrew before being paired with Charles.

I am not British but the obvious American mispronunciations of everything from haberdasher to Viscount Severin is hilarious. One could excuse Forfar or Berkshire but Eddin - Berg is not the capital of Scotland unless you're from deepest Kalamazoo. Narrator had a pleasant voice and read well but her self-confidence was misplaced.
It seems very odd to me that ppl don't polish up their performances before getting on the net and presenting themselves as knowledgeable in a subject.
